Look of the Week: Kristen's Smoky Glow!Look of the Week: Kristen's Smoky Glow!

So, I know Halloween is this weekend, so most of you would probably cringe if I told you I was already thinking about holiday makeup! But, I found this picture of Kristen Stewart from a recent event, and it immediately got the (festive, holiday) wheels turning. This shimmery, gray smoky eye is getting me in such a winter state of mind, while her glowing skin (My favorite fall trend!) keeps it grounded. It is October after all. Can you guys tell I'm one of those people who WILL be blasting Christmas songs on November 1st?
My recommendation for recreating this look is to start with a shimmery, but not too shimmery, gray shadow. I'm a big fan of our Studio Baked Eyeshadow Palettes for this look, which you can try in NYC or Seattle. Both palettes have lovely shades of gray, with just the right amount of shimmer for an easy start to the holiday season. Start by packing on a gray shadow on the lid, as well as along the lower lashline with a small smudging brush, such as our Studio Small Smudge Brush or the Essential Smudge Brush. Kristen doesn't wear any eyeliner (She always seems to keep her makeup so simple!), just mascara, so choose a good, volume-plumping one like our Studio Volume Plumping Mascara or Essential Volumizing Mascara.
Now for the face. Prime with my favorite, easy-glow primer, our Studio Mineral Infused Primer in Radiant Glow. Then apply your shade in our Studio Flawless Finish Foundation, for a natural finish. Skip the powder if you can stand it, it tones down the glow too much. Just pop up some glossy lip balm—We like the Studio Glossy Gloss in Pink Candy—and you're good to go!
Have you started holiday planning yet?

We were playing around with our new #elfhalloween Diva Beauty Book this morning, and ended up creating this gorgeous Golden Goddess look! With a rustic-looking golden headband, it's all you need to become a fabulous, ancient goddess. Here's how we did it:
Step 1: Using the Diva Beauty Book and the Studio Eyeshadow "C" Brush, apply a gold tone shadow to the entire lid. Pat on for bold color and event try wetting your brush to add intensity.
Step 2: Begin to line the lid as close to the lash line as possible. Short strokes between the lashes will help keep your line sharp!
Step 3: Extend the line outside of the lid and create a "wing." Add two more lines to make the wing into a triangle. Then follow with a small smudge brush and the blue shadow from the Diva beauty book. Apply the blue inside or below the triangle.
Step 4: My favorite part! Use the wand from the Essential Glitter Mascara to add shimmer and sparkle to your gold!
Isn't this the perfect look for those last-minute Halloween parties?
Look of the Week: Zoe's Purrr-fect Cat Eye!Look of the Week: Zoe's Purrr-fect Cat Eye!
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2014
Lucky mama-of-twins-to-be Zoe Saldana already has that gorgeous pregnancy glow that simply we simply can't bottle up (As much as we'd like to here at e.l.f.!). This gives her plenty of room to play up her eyes and lips. Her vibrant pink lip is red carpet perfect! Still, my favorite part of this look is Zoe's eyes. She is rocking a perfect cat eye, with precision-applied winged eyeliner. It's really interesting to see such a precise look on the red carpet, so normally reserved for the bold and daring! I think of a winged eye like this to be best suited for every day wear, but that's why it looks so awesome on Zoe! She still nails it with this look, and it seems that playing it safe and simple definitely paid off in her favor here.
Our Studio Mineral Infused Primer in Radiant Glow makes it easy to fake stunning skin like Zoe's, whether you're a mama or not! To match Zoe's vibrant pink lip, first line and fill lips, then blend with our Studio Lip Liner & Blending Brush in Wine. Then, apply a coat of our Studio Moisturizing Lipstick in Flirty & Fabulous. It's such a great, bright fuchsia that's perfect for a party. For the eyes, after priming and applying a warm, neutral shadow, use a fine-tipped liquid liner, such as our Studio Precision Liquid Eyeliner or our Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black to line across the upper lashline, as tightly as you can to the lashes as possible. Finally, flick it out at the edges of the eye, drawing a line outward diagonally from the corner of the eye towards the tail of your brows. Positively purrrr-fect!
What's your favorite every day eye look?
Searching For the Perfect RedSearching For the Perfect Red

It's the quest every woman undertakes in her lifetime: Finding the perfect red lip! I know for my pale skin and cool undertones, if I'm not careful, what looks like a rich, luscious red in a lipstick tube can look quite orange when I put it on! I find that blue-based reds look best on me. My e.l.f. favorites are the Moisturizing Lipstick in Red Carpet and the Mineral Lipstick in Cheerful Cherry, both of which are blue based reds. Warmer-undertoned gals should try the Moisturizing Lipstick in Velvet Rope, as well as the Matte Lip Color in Rich Red, all brighter, more pink reds, which are super flattering for your warm skin.
Late last week at the e.l.f. office, some of the other girls and I were talking our favorite e.l.f. reds, and got so excited, we had to bust them out! We grabbed all of our favorite red shades and swatched them like crazy. (From top left, going clockwise: Essential Lip Stain in Cherry Bomb, Studio Matte Lip Color in Rich Red, Essential Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Cherry Tart, Studio Moisturizing Lipstick in Red Carpet, Mineral Lipstick in Cheerful Cherry, Moisturizing Lipstick in Velvet Rope, and Essential Lipstick in Fearless.) Check out our swatching video here!
