Look of the Week: Zoe's Purrr-fect Cat Eye!
Look of the Week: Zoe's Purrr-fect Cat Eye!
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2014

Lucky mama-of-twins-to-be Zoe Saldana already has that gorgeous pregnancy glow that simply we simply can't bottle up (As much as we'd like to here at e.l.f.!). This gives her plenty of room to play up her eyes and lips. Her vibrant pink lip is red carpet perfect! Still, my favorite part of this look is Zoe's eyes. She is rocking a perfect cat eye, with precision-applied winged eyeliner. It's really interesting to see such a precise look on the red carpet, so normally reserved for the bold and daring! I think of a winged eye like this to be best suited for every day wear, but that's why it looks so awesome on Zoe! She still nails it with this look, and it seems that playing it safe and simple definitely paid off in her favor here.

Our Studio Mineral Infused Primer in Radiant Glow makes it easy to fake stunning skin like Zoe's, whether you're a mama or not! To match Zoe's vibrant pink lip, first line and fill lips, then blend with our Studio Lip Liner & Blending Brush in Wine. Then, apply a coat of our Studio Moisturizing Lipstick in Flirty & Fabulous. It's such a great, bright fuchsia that's perfect for a party. For the eyes, after priming and applying a warm, neutral shadow, use a fine-tipped liquid liner, such as our Studio Precision Liquid Eyeliner or our Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black to line across the upper lashline, as tightly as you can to the lashes as possible. Finally, flick it out at the edges of the eye, drawing a line outward diagonally from the corner of the eye towards the tail of your brows. Positively purrrr-fect!

What's your favorite every day eye look?

Sara

Searching For the Perfect Red
Searching For the Perfect Red
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2014

Source: Shutterstock

It's the quest every woman undertakes in her lifetime: Finding the perfect red lip! I know for my pale skin and cool undertones, if I'm not careful, what looks like a rich, luscious red in a lipstick tube can look quite orange when I put it on! I find that blue-based reds look best on me. My e.l.f. favorites are the Moisturizing Lipstick in Red Carpet and the Mineral Lipstick in Cheerful Cherry, both of which are blue based reds. Warmer-undertoned gals should try the Moisturizing Lipstick in Velvet Rope, as well as the Matte Lip Color in Rich Red, all brighter, more pink reds, which are super flattering for your warm skin.

Late last week at the e.l.f. office, some of the other girls and I were talking our favorite e.l.f. reds, and got so excited, we had to bust them out! We grabbed all of our favorite red shades and swatched them like crazy. (From top left, going clockwise: Essential Lip Stain in Cherry Bomb, Studio Matte Lip Color in Rich Red, Essential Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Cherry Tart, Studio Moisturizing Lipstick in Red Carpet, Mineral Lipstick in Cheerful Cherry, Moisturizing Lipstick in Velvet Rope, and Essential Lipstick in Fearless.) Check out our swatching video here!

Which one is your perfect red?

e.l.f. halloween how-to: DIVA
e.l.f. halloween how-to: DIVA
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2014

If you're not a DIVA on a regular basis, test out your skills on Halloween Elfette! The e.l.f. DIVA Beauty Book is the perfect kit to get the look with and use later on too! From shadows to lips, we've got you covered.

STEP 1: Using the Eye Shadow "C" Brush, Pat on the golden shade from the "Diva Book." Wet the brush hair lightly to apply maximum color.

STEP 2: Begin to build up your crease and edge color by applying a pink shade from the "Diva book," with an Angled Contour Brush. Apply the color lightly to start and build up as needed to achieve a dramatic look.

STEP 3: Don't be afraid to layer! Layering unexpected colors can totally make your look unique and what DIVA doesn't experiment? Apply the blue shade from the "Diva book" to the edges of your lid, using the e.l.f. Essential Defining Eye Brush. This brush helps to apply color in small areas, so it's great for the edges.

STEP 4: Liner makes this eye truly pop! Apply the black, pencil liner from the book to the upper and lower lids.

STEP 5: Apply a bit of color to the cheeks using any of the pink shades in the book. I love the e.l.f. studio Blush Brush for this! It adds just the right amount of color where it's needed.

STEP 6: Gloss up! Get those lips shiny and beautiful with the gloss from the book, or an e.l.f. Studio Glossy Gloss in Funky Fuschia.

xoxo
Sonia

e.l.f. halloween how-to: SEDUCTIVE KITTEN
e.l.f. halloween how-to: SEDUCTIVE KITTEN
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2014

MEOW Elfette! I see a ton of human-kitties running around on halloween and wish I could make them all look this fierce. It's probably the easiest costume to throw together last minute for an office party or a night out. I'm definitely guilty of putting together the kitty costume on a few Halloween events! Let me tell you exactly how to get this look, using our Halloween Beauty Books! I used the "WICKED" book for this kitty.

STEP 1

Using the black eyeliner from the e.l.f. Wicked Beauty book, begin to draw over your lids and fill in a "cat eye" shape. Dramatic shapes and colors will enhance your halloween look! Then, pat the black eye shadow from the book onto your lid, to make sure creasing will be minimal and the color is very solid.

STEP 2

Using the liner pencil again, draw a black kitty nose! Follow the shape from the photo to get the most realistic but cute nose. The best part... draw in your wiskhers! You can sharpen the liner and draw several fine lines from the nose to your mid-cheek area. Different lengths look great!

STEP 3

The eye liner from the e.l.f. Wicked Beauty book is definitely key! Using it again, draw in your lips for a deep black effect, or just use the black gloss from the book for less drama. To acheive the reddish undertone as shown in the photo, use a bit of the red shadow along with the lip-gloss wand!

Show us your best kitty face! Tag @officialelfcosmetics on instagram.

xoxo
