COLOR REPORT: Blue Liner!
COLOR REPORT: Blue Liner!
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 02, 2014

Hey Elfette! It's that time again... I'm bringing you my favorite color picks and this time it's all about BLUE for back-to-school. No matter what your eye or skin color, blue is the new black... or at least a fun alternative to it.

A POP OF BLUE
e.l.f. Essential Loose Shadow is fun all over the lids or close to your lash line. It's a pretty, pop of color to brighten up any day or night out! Use the sponge tip applicator to draw the shadow over your lids carefully. Want more precision? Use an angled brush for a sharper line!

SMOKED BLUE
Going for a smoked effect? Try the
e.l.f. Studio Waterproof Eyeliner Crayon on the lower lid of your eyes. This blue is soft and subdued, so it's great as a shadow or liner.

INKED LINER
If you love the cat or winged eye that lasts all day long, try the
e.l.f. Essential Liquid Eyeliner. It's perfect for a precise line to enhance your natural eye shape.

What's your favorite kind of eyeliner?

xoxo
Sonia

beauty SCHOOL 101: lipstick how-to
beauty SCHOOL 101: lipstick how-to
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 02, 2014

Smooch-worthy lips are super easy elfette! I've picked out my favorite 6 items to get your lips looking juicy and fresh. With a ton of wearable shades and easy-to-apply products, e.l.f. has you covered for pout-perfection.

STEP 1
To remove the dryness from your lips and give them a poutty effect, apply the e.l.f. Studio Lip Exfoliator to a slightly wet surface. Rub lips together to help in exfoliation/buffing. Gently tissue off the excess oil with a damp kleenex.

STEP 2
Apply the Moisturizing Lipstick in Pink Minx to your lips. This formula will add more hydration without sacrificing pigment!

STEP 3
Using a Studio Lip Liner Pencil in Nude Pink, create clean edges by filling in where needed and smoothing lines from the lipstick.

STEP 4
Gloss up! Add some shine over your lipstick and try out the Studio Glosy Gloss in berry blush. Instantly get fuller shapes lips by applying some shine over them!

STEP 5
Perfect the shine by adding a touch of the Studio Pout Perfector, in the center of the bottome lip. Blend in the edges so that it's not a perfect circle.

STEP 6
Don't let all of your hard work go to waste... protect your beautiful color from fraying by adding the Studio Lip Lock pencil around the skin of your lips. It's clear so don't worry about it looking strange. It will help to create a barrier around your lips and keep color on.

Will you try this look? What's your favorite e.l.f. Lipstick?

xoxo
Sonia

All Eyes on Kerry!
All Eyes on Kerry!
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 02, 2014

Source: Shutterstock

Naturally, while everyone was focusing on the winners and losers and best-dressed from last week's Emmys, this blogger was much more focused on the red carpet beauty! Hands down, my favorite look of the night came from Kerry Washington. Since spring, blue, blue, blue eye looks have been everywhere! Seeing this look on Kerry, my prediction is that blue shadow will last well into fall. No complaints here! It's a gorgeous, versatile that works for the majority of skin tones and eye colors.

This look on Kerry is actually done with a blend of silver and navy blue eyshadows. My mind immediately jumps to our Studio Baked Eyeshadow Palette in NYC, and how perfect it would be for this look! The glam, night-out colors, the shimmery baked texture...sigh, it's dreamy. After priming, start by mixing together the palette's silver shade (Top row, far right color) with the navy blue (Bottom row, far left color). Use our new Studio Blending Brush (This elfettes new favorite!) to blend all over the lid. Then, line and tightline with a dark blue liner. We like the Studio Cream Eyeliner in Midnight, Mineral Waterproof Shadow Liner in Navy, or our Essential Liquid Eyeliner in Midnight. Finish off your eyes with your favorite e.l.f. mascara!

As for the rest of the face, keep it simple. Kerry only has a touch of blush on. My thought is to keep it in the same Baked theme at the eyeshadows, and try our Studio Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky for a light flush. Try a bit of highlighter too (Baked!) on the forehead, bridge of the nose, and cheekbones with the Studio Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls. Top it off with a natural-looking lip gloss. Try our Studio Glossy Gloss in Ballet Slippers, Mineral Lip Gloss in Au Naturale, or Essential Hypershine Gloss in Bare.

What was your favorite look at the Emmys?

Sara

Odeya Rush Gives Us the Glam!
Odeya Rush Gives Us the Glam!
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27, 2014

Source: Shutterstock

It's one of those rare moments, like seeing a rainbow or finding a four-leaf clover, but I think I may have actually seen a star being born. Soon-to-be-It-Girl Odeya Rush made her red carpet debut at the premiere of her new movie The Giver last week, with an all-around glam look that I don't think will soon be forgotten. This girl may have been a relative unknown a mere few weeks ago, but I am predicting major star potential in this girl. But seriously, let's talk about that red carpet beauty! 17 year-old. Odeya absolutely killed it with this beautiful, youthful look that enhanced all her best features. (Those brows! That lip color!) While, fair enough, it isn't all that risky of a look, she still managed to look both Hollywood-glam while staying age-appropriate.

Wanna try Odeya's look? Start with any e.l.f. primer, we like the Studio Poreless Primer for this look. It gives your foundation such an airbrushed look! Next, apply your favorite e.l.f. foundation all over the face. This look's gotta be flawless, so have our Studio Complete Coverage Concealer Palette in your arsenal to camouflage any imperfections. Odeya has a subtle glow, which our NEW Pressed Mineral Bronzer provides perfectly! Try it in the shades Baked Peach or Tan Toffee for a similar look. Simply blend along your hairline, jawline, and in the hollows of your cheeks with our Studio Mineral Powder Brush. Keep it natural (All-natural! Literally!) by using a kiss of our Pressed Mineral Blush in Sweet Retreat for a youthful flush. Our Studio Blush Brush provides precision application. For full brows like Odeya's, try the tinted side of our Studio Eyebrow Treat and Tame. The wand tints brows as it shapes them, perfect for a natural look. For the eyes, try a brown shadow, like Odeya, that would make blue eyes pop. The perfect palette? Our Studio Eye Enhancing Eyeshadow in Blue Eyes I. Get a cat-eye with our smudge-proof Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black, perfect for a party! Finish the eyes by curling your lashes, and applying a few coats of our Essential Volumizing and Defining Mascara. Now, finish off the look with a bright, punchy pink lipstick. We love our Studio Moisturizing Lipstick in Flirty & Fabulous! Top it off with a tinted gloss, like our Essential Hypershine Lip Gloss in Bubblegum, and you're ready for star power!

What do you think of Odeya's look?

Sara
