Ted Gibson

Friday, May 23, 2008

So, I had been in search of a new shampoo and conditioner for my over styled blond locks for quite some time, and had yet to find the ooh la la effect. (It’s important to change up your hair products every so often as your hair can plateau with product and not respond as it once did.) Ironically, I just so happen to be at a beauty event last week and got the pleasure of meeting the sweet and talented Ted Gibson. He introduced me to some new items he was working on and also gave me some of his shampoo and conditioner to try out. Not only did I love the artistic flare on the bottle and the fruity fragrance, but hello moisture my thirsty hair was quenched after I showered. Love it and definitely recommend trying it! To learn more check out http://www.tedgibsonsalon.com/   . Do you have a favorite style product that you want to share or a hair tip that's worth chatting over?  Let's hear them.

I use hair repair therapy...it helps my hair from looking frizzy and dry. You can use it on wet or dry hair. I have long hair so maintainence is a nightmare! On those "bad hair days" where nothing is working, I have several sets of "hair flares" that I bought at a craft fair, there are four little scrunchie type things, when I put them in, my hair has that french braid look without the work. You can buy them at hairflares.com. No headaches, no pinching, no hair falling out...LOVE THEM!

I have Long wavy and frizzy hair.I got a sample of twisting paste and to my surprise when I applied it and crinched my hair it gave me a beach style neat and clear looking waves.I just love that look and it hardly takes any time.I applyit to bit damp hair, fold my hair using my hands and am all set to neat and tidy waves which lasts long.

Leave in Conditioner in the spray form is a must! My hair is very fine and very long and therefore tangles incredibly often. I used to be terrible about breaking my hair while trying to remove the tangles, but now I either use Dove's Moisturizing mist or Aussi's Leave-In conditoning and shine product and my hair and scalp are both very thankful for it.

I actually use a little bit of jojoba oil on the ends of my hair. It doesn't make them greasy at all and it also helps out my super dry ends. Plus it's really cheap at your local trader joe's!

I use tons of style products on my hair, willing to try everything at least once. But it seems, no matter what I use, whether it is supposed to make gorgeous curls, tame the frizz, or make my hair luminous with shine, I still end up with a dry, frizzy mess of curls. I realized that the best thing to do with your hair is to let is to have the least amount of hair products in it as possible. One or two works better than six. Never blow dry curls unless you have a great diffuser. Pin up sections of ou hair while drying to keep your bottom layers from getting flattened. And also, wash your hair with cool water to keep the frizz down and make your hair shine.

My hair is color-treated (red, which is seriously hard to keep vibrant!), and I LOVE Pureology's products. Their shampoos and conditioners smell wonderful and their styling products really help preserve my hair color. My fave is the Instant Repair leave-in serum! They also have a spray-in UV protector which is great for preventing color-fade when it's sunny out. Ask your stylist about Pureology.

I am always trying new things to improve my hair. But something I have found very useful (and that works) is mayo (yes, mayonnaise) and aloe vera. If you have dry hair and need a little shine use mix mayo with your favorite conditioner, mix a small amount of each and put it on your hair for 30 minutes...silky and shiny. I know it sound gross but it works. Finally if you are experiencing hair thinning, aloe vera worked for me. Get access to a natural plant, trim the stems (be careful with thorns) and get the gooey inside and put in a blender. Wear it on your roots, massage it, put a towel(binni works for me) and go to bed (at least twice a week). In the morning wash your hair. You will notice the difference in about 2 weeks. It also helps maintain hair beautiful.

Softsheen-carson makes a product called OPTIMUM OIL THERAPY over-nite strengthener which is great. I LOVE Dove volumizing mouse. It is a very light formula. I am a swimmer and therefore my hair is extremely dry and damaged. Before I blow dry, I put a little bit of this into my hair, especially onto my roots. It makes my hair stay straight all day after blow drying without a straightener (my hair is naturally curly) and also keeps it hydrated. Another tip for chlorine damaged hair, once a week add some baking soda to your favorite shampoo and it will act as a natural clarifier without damaging hair color.

My favorite hair products have to be Paul Mitchell. I am a long time fan, and have been using the products since I was 15 and I'm 34 now~! Yesterday was my birthday and I got a GC to my favorite salon, so I was going to re-stock, but now I may try the Ted Gibson products instead. My hair is dry and I need some moisture. One tip I find that gives your hair a healthy glow, as well as moisture infusion is this: Mash up some avacado and olive oil together in a bowl, then rub it into the last 6 inches or so of your hair, wrap up in a bun, cover with a plastic baggy, and let set for about an hour~! Trust me, this works. Just hop in the shower and shampoo it out, and your hair will thank you for it big time!

If you have long, straight hair, that is hard to brush through because of snarling, try the old fashion way of avoiding the snarly bed head in the morning. Go to bed with a braid in your hair. It will keep it our of your face all night, and will be MUCH more manageable in the morning.

I currently use Biolage because I had over processed bleach blonde hair, that I decided to dye back to brown. My friend is a hair stylist and told me to use a deep conditioner, the Biolage is a 3 min. conditioner that works wonders. I recently chopped all of my hair off to just kind of start over, but I still use the Biolage to keep my damaged roots under control. I also use a Paul Mitchell syrum before I even touch my hair with any other product, just to lock in the moisture and after I style I use a Paul Mitchell shine syrum that works wonders. I get random people who stop me and ask me where I got my hair cut, it feels so good to know that even though I did a BIG oops on my hair, I get compliments once again.

I use Victoriasecret so sexy shampoo not only does it smell like heaven (just like the name the smell can only be described as 'sexy') it really gives my roots what seems like a boost. After washing my hair with this I use Their so sexy smoothing balm which layers the sent and smooths my ends into silky smooth tresses. I recommend these products to everyone!

I've always been a big fan of the Panteen products. I love just using shampoo one day a week, with no conditioner. It allows my hair the chance to be natural and also reduces build up in my hair.

Since I have naturally curly hair, I also have curly hair that's dry/damaged. During the shower, I leave a bit of conditioner in my hair to have moisture to my ringlets and maybe add some hairspray when damp to the ends to keep them firm. This works for me and hopefully it might bring relief to others with the same problem.

Hmm I checked out the products on tedgibsonsalon.com and they looked very tempting. Until I get a chance to try them... I would have to say Garnier is probably my favorite right now. And many of salons I have gone to say that it is very nourishing for your hair!! Also a far as hair dye is concerned the dye I've loved the best is from Akins Natural Foods. It's called Naturalist. And it dyes beautifully and has no HARSH awful smell. I loved it.

MY favorite product is Batiste Dry Shampoo. I have wavey hair, and by the mid/ end of the work day my ends are fine but my roots are greasy and leave my hair looking gross! A little spray of Batiste and all my oil is soaked up! It is also amazing for making my blow-outs last a few morre days too!

They really do give my hair a little extra something. I also use Got2be glued styling product to give it a spikey look sometimes. It holds really well and does not leave my hair sticky.

Its in the orange bottle and without this and the shampoo that goes along with it, my hair is a mess, lol! Quick blow dry and curl if I have time if not, no big deal, still stay smooth.

I LOVE Herbal Essences Totally Twisted 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner!!! It is such a great product for girls with wavy/curly hair. It smells great and is very easy to use. You don't have to worry about keeping up with two bottles of shampoo/conditioner since it is all in one bottle! And, unlike other 2-in-1 products, it doesn't dry out your hair! I would reccommend it to anyone!

I have fine blonde hair and one of my favorite ways to keep it looking full of body and lots of volume is to first add a mouse to the roots of my hair and flip it upside down while drying it. After my hair is dry, I then will take a small amount of hairspray/or root lifting spray to my hands and apply it to my roots. If I want wavy or hair that bounces I use my large hot rollers and shake my hair all over and it looks great!

I not only color my hair, but get perms to give my hair some curl. Needless to say, that doing this can wreak havoc with hair. But my hair always has soft natural looking curls that are never frizzy. What's my secret? Aquage healing conditioner. My hairdresser introduced me to it. The stuff is magical! It's full of sea botanicals and increases moisture retention and heals damaged areas. The directions say to comb through damp hair and leave on for a few minutes then rinse, but I do as my hairdresser does. After towel drying my hair, she takes a pea sized amount and rubs it between her hands and then lightly scrunches it into my hair, does NOT rinse it out, but lightly combs it through my hair. Then using a diffuser, lightly blow dries it, scrunching as she partially dries it. I leave with slightly damp hair and just scrunch occasionally or flip my head a few times. I have beautiful soft curls that aren't weighed down and never get frizzy. If, after sleeping, I wake up with not so pretty curls, I just spritz with water, flip my head upside down, scrunch a few times, and voila.. fresh as if I just came out of the salon. I love this stuff, you can use the cheapest shampoo, and then use Aquage, and look like you spent a fortune.

I have thick, curly, course hair and over the years have learned how to manage it. I always heard that you should change your shampoo every once in a while because your hair gets build up from using the same shampoo and products. I have found using a clarifying shampoo, like sauve, once a week or every other week helps remove the build up. I am the type of person that likes to use the same product once I have found what works for me. This works wonderful for me! Same shampoo still works well for my hair. I really like the Vive Pro, by L'oreal thats for thick hair and my all time favorite every day conditioner is Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep conditioner. This conditioner works great for all types of hair, because my mom has fine, thin hair thats wavey and she loves this conditioner! I really recommend it for anyone! These products work great for me on top of great styling products. My hair is never dull and frizzy anymore! I have really learned how my hair works. On top of all that I get my hair colored and highlighted about every 3 to 4 months.

The best gift for day is something personal that comes from the heart. Hand wash his car, shine up all of his shoes, make his favorite meal or just let him watch what he wants on tv. Anything that you do for him he will remember for years to come, as opposed to forgetting his new tie in a minute.

Im sure alot of you know this already but I find it VERY helpful! When using conditioner it sometimes likes to slide off of your hair, trust me if happened to me ALL the time! I hated it because when I got out of the shower my hair was never as great as it could be. I found out that if you ring your hair out before you apply conditioner it helps! It keeps the conditioner in your hair for longer and when you style your hair it will be amazingly smooth! Try it I swear it works!
