Ahh those little red, black and white uninvited quests, pop up to all of us (and if you don’t get pimples, gasp are you are a super human?). So we all have are tips, trick and remedies to combat these nasty invaders. My favorite item is the Tea Tree Blemish Stick, besides the awakening stimulation on contact, this natural ingredient fights and heals not only blemishes but scars, insect bites, and skin irritations too. What are your pimple-be-gone secrets? And for every valid web comment on this blog only we will give you a Free $5 e.l.f. coupon via email just to say thanks (1 per person, valid to the first 100 posts only).

My favorite is to use a antibiotic first aid ointment (like Neosporin or Bactine) at the first sign of a blemish. Every time I use it, my blemishes quickly disappear, leaving me stress-free! |

Neosporin is great for everything from dry skin on your hands (when your skin dries, it gets little cracks; basically minute cuts!) to yes! Pimples! If you get a bad breakout, the neosporin kills a lot of those bacteria, and settles the outbreak. |

I'm an esthnetician and I'm telling you out of concern that you do not need to do this. Neosporin may be over the counter, but it is still a very strong antibiotic. You skin will eventually build an immunity to it, and you may break out worse than ever. The only time I ever tell my clients to do this is when they have one that is very badly infected (usually from picking). I know this works and it is tempting to use it, but please reconsider only doing this when you have a really badly infected blemish. It should never be used as an every day/ every time treatment. |

Actually using antibiotic treatments isn't good at all, sure it kills the original bacteria, but what it does is helps the ones that survive mutate causing antibiotic resistant bacteria to stay on your face, and in the end will cause more serious out breaks. |

So nice to see someone debunking the myth that pimples go away after your teens and early twenties. My fav? GREEN. I went green long before it was in vogue. It covers a multitude of flaws. |

I think a key thing to prevent/control pimples is resisting the urge to touch them and pick them. Our hands are full of bacteria and touching our face will only exacerbate the problem. It can be tempting but the results are not worth it. |

For pimples, I think it is important to leave them alone, and drink some water to cleanse your body. The Tea Tree Blemish Stick sounds intersting..works for scars and insect bites too! When it's summer at NY, the mosquitoes are out to get me. |

I generally use a pretty generous amount of Salicylic acid before I go to bed at night -- when I remember to. Mostly though, I've given up on fighting them, I figure they'll go away with puberty. |

Darlin', blemishes do NOT always go away after puberty. I'm 57 and have really only had 'relatively' good skin for the past two years or so.
Benzoyl Peroxide cleanser and Salicylic Acid light lotion together work for me. And definitely don't aggravate them when they do appear. |

Sorry to tell you that the other two women who replied are right. I've been waiting for years to have clear skin and I've tried every product on the market with only minimal results. Somehow, it's just not fair that I'm in my 30's and still have to deal with this. |

My pimple be gone secret is using toothpaste. When I brush my teeth I dab a little on spots where I can feel them want to burst on out. After I wash my face it also leaves a fresh minty feeling on my face/spots. Til this day I haven';t had to deal with pimples. |

I find that drinking a lot of water really helps my skin. When I do get a breakout, however, I use a little dab of Neutrogena Rapid Clear Spot Eliminating Gel. It works so well. Like it says on the box, there really is noticeable improvement in 8 hours. I also just make sure to wash my face before I go to bed at night. |

I have fought with pimples my whole live. They are slowly getting better with age. My tip is to wash the area with really warm water and then put toothpaste of your standard over the counter pimple cream on it. The trick is not to over do it. Do not touch it too much. |

De-Stress! I find when I'm constantly worried about something, that's when I tend to break out, regardless of how strict my skin-care regimen is. Taking time to relax and stay organized/worry-free is how I try to make blemishes disappear. It's usualy easier said than done, but it doesn't hurt to try. |

I use a product that started local but is becoming VERY popular very quickly; it is called SKIN FIX and it claims to fix anything (basically) wrong with your skin. I had a heatrash and it got rid of it over night. I have used it on eczema, as well as on blemishes and pimples. It smells very nice, and it is natural!! So check it out! http://www.skinfix.ca/

When I have a really red spot from a pimple, I will take a drop of tea tree oil, a drop of honey and mix it on my finger and then pat it on the spot after I wash my face and let it sit overnight. It makes the redness go away the next morning. |

Toothpaste dotted on overnight works well to drive out the spot!
However, if it continues visit a dermaltologist to make sure its not rosecea, which can look like pimples in slightly more mature ladies who should be past the pimple age. |

E.L.F. would create some Acne Control cosmetics, such as concealer with salicylic acid in there.... |

My skin scars very easily. If I get a scratch, it turns into a scar. So for pimples I usually put Vaseline on it if it bleeds, this helps to lighten the scar and make the acne scar less noticeable. I think this Tea Tree Blemish stick sounds interesting. Maybe it'll work better for me. |

If that doesn't work, I'll definitely have to try the blemish touch stick. Definitely sounds good, especially because of the natural ingredients. I'm all about natural. haha =) |

I've used proactive for a while now. I have serious t-zone issues and have always broken out. Proactive has been a miracle for me. It will take about 6 weeks before you see a big difference. I've been told that it takes that long for it to bring all of the crap out of your skin...after about 6 weeks though, you should be amazed...I was. A number of years ago I tried it and then due to finances, had to discontinue, but my face stayed clearer than it had ever been for months afterwards! I've done dermatologists, pad, creams, toothpaste, masks, facials, etc. but Proactive seems to work better than anything else out there. Stick with it. I think you'll be pleased. |

I used to use proactiv couple of years back for half a year and i had not seen any improvements. Now I've decided to go back on it again but the extra strength kind. Eventhough my blemishes is still there at least my skin complexion is more even and my skin texture is much smoother. I'm still giving it time.... |

Use neosporin after a pimple becomes more of a cut - it will heal quicker, be less red and won't leave a scar |

I noticed that eating spicey or greasy food really kills my skin.. I also noticed that the less I slept the more I broke out. I don't know if it's directly connected but I ate less spicier and greasier and got plenty more sleep. Drinking lots of water also has helped me too. Washing my face every morning and at night has help a bunch too. =) |

I have tried everything from different washes to mask. I think the one thing I found that works the best when washing my face was the pre-moistened wipes. This seemed to get my face clean and was quick. I do try to use a scrub once a week. But if anyone was a super solution that works all the time I am all ears. This stuff sounds like it is very handy to have and works in several aspects. |

PIMPLES! Seems like I've dealt with them forever. They always pop up right before something big is about to happen no doubt. My parents were always split on the idea of what to do with them. My Dad always told us to leave them alone because when he was a kid with acne that's what his dermatologist would tell him. Of course, he'd go in and they'd pick at them! Haha, oh well. :) Mom always ALWAYS picked at us non-stop, especially right before something was to happen - it was oh picture day! ahh a pimple! oh no, here comes Mom! *FLASH* and it's the WORST school picture ever!
The best advice I ever got from my mom was to not do what she did! She and her friends in highschool used to put toothpaste on her pimples. I've heard it does dry them out and help a bit, but she did say that the most important thing to do is wash your face! Day and night! And I can tell you, that when I do lol, it works! :)
For cover up I try to avoid using TOO much makeup. It always ends up that the more makeup you put on it, the WORSE it looks. And of course, do NOT pick in the morning when you're getting ready for work, or with dirty hands, etc.
Hope that helps! :) |

My pimple-be-gone secret is just to make sure that I don't touch my face by using hand sanitizer and that I use my face washes that have some sort of benzyl peroxide or sacylic (SP) acid. As well as drink more water. Natural things don't work for me. :( |

Whenever I notice a pimple starting I clean the area with witch hazel and apply an ample amount of Benzoyl Peroxide 10%. It is usually gone within two days. The witch hazel helps to reduce the redness but if it is still angry looking, swab some visine on it for a quick fix! |

Ugh. Zits.
I actually have a bit of a fun way to cover up a spot if it isn't oozing or terribly large.
Apply a beauty mark! Use either a stick on jewel or a dot of liquid eyeliner. If you only have one this is great. Dark brown eyeliner on a small spot looks pretty realistic, black is more for an evening out and the jewels are for fun. Victoria's secret makes expensive stick on felt dots that in my book look kind of silly. Save yourself the hassle and DIY.
For prevention of the occasional spot, (problem breakouts are usually hormonal in origin necessitating a trip to the derm or general doc. for help.) Gentle cleansing and using beta hydroxy acid and a benzoyl peroxide solution works great. Paula Begoun "The cosmetics cop" has some great info on her website.

A while back my dad (who has diabetes) switched to a new type of blood sugar machine, so he was stuck with hundreds of tiny little sterilized needles that he no longer needed (they are about an inch long, and you pop off the plastic top to reveal a little needle). I grabbed them up quickly! I wash my face, clease the pimple with alcohol, and then use a brand new, very sharp, completely sterilized needle to pop the whitehead. Then I *very gently* push around it to get out all the infection. I then clease it again, and put on a dab of acne cream (there are a million brands). You can get these types of needles for pretty cheap on ebay if you don't want to buy them at the drug store.
I also always use redness-relieving eye drops on pimples to get the red out before I dab on a bit of concealer. That works great!
Any ideas for blackheads? They are my biggest struggle!!!
Happy Mother's Day!!! |

I also recommend Burt's Bees Herbal Blemish Stick. The featured ingredient is also Tea Tree Oil. "This blemish stick contains 10 effective natural herbal ingredients including willowbark, nature's version of salicylic acid, which clarifies and gently exfoliates skin to clear pores and help prevent breakouts. Combined with tea tree and juniper oils, known for their antiseptic and astringent qualities, and calendula to reduce inflammation and redness, this concentrated formula keeps your skin clear, naturally." - www.burtsbees.com |

I have found that taking the supplement Tumeric works wonders for over all inflammation especially with acne and pimples. I take it orally in pill form 3x a day and up the ante when I am ovulating or having pms. I hear it also comes in a cream but BEWARE tumeric stains yellow in powder form. It is also a bit strong tasting in tincture form so I would stick to pill form. I have suffered 50% less since starting this regimen two months ago. |

I know it's going to be different for everyone, but for myself I've found that using Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser works best. I've been using the Neutrogena facial products for years now. You have to be diligent with washing your face reguardless. The less you wash, the more you'll break out. I've also learned that no matter what you do there's always going to be some spot you can't get to go away.
I hadn't heard of the Tea Tree Blemish Stick before, but just a quick search shows favorable ratings so I may have to try it out.

I was a lucky teenager who didn't get pimples in middle school when everyone else did. I thought I was in the clear! Fast forward to my mid- twenties, when all hell broke lose. I was out and about in the dating and working world with acne like a kid. How embarassing! My mother (who has always had pimple- free, wrinkle- free skin) told me that she exfoliates every single day with a buffing sponge and mild soap, and MOISTURIZER! Now in my 30s (gasp!), I still use the same skin care regimine as my mother, and I can honestly say that my skin looks better today than it has in years. And for that occasional pimple pop- up, I use Clean & Clear Spot Treatment, and its gone in a day. |

Also, I have very oily skin so if I don't use a good moisturizer especially in the summer, I seem to break out a lot. So I love love love Philosphy's Hope in A Jar, it's pricy but a little goes along way and it really has dramatically improved my skin's oiliness and it's helped even out it's texture. Another thing that I use if I get a pimple is hold a cold pack on it to reduce the redness and swelling. |

When I was a teenager skin care and even some special makeup products were cultivated from my mother's kitchen. Cucumber peels for swollen "party" eyes, a little vanilla extract behind the ears, and my favorite was an actual oatmeal scrub/mask. To get rid of blemishes really quick, I'd cut a wedge of lemon and apply it directly to the facial culprit about four or five times a day. Any leftover juice was also great for getting rid of nail stains. |

My sister-in-law swears by toothpaste! She stayed with us for a few months and every few nights she'd walk into the living room with little minty green dots all over her face. For the most part, she appeared to have pretty clear skin, so I'd say it must work. Not sure if there is a difference between paste and gel though. :) |

Try dabbing on tiny bit of paste style toothpaste right onto the pimple and let it sit for as long as you can handle, overnight if you can and presto...it clears up right away. It's best to try this before the pimple comes to a head! |

I used to end up with rashes if I used benzoyl peroxide all over my skin (why I couldn't handle Proactiv...) but it works wonders for spot treatment! |

I use Differin for persistent pimples. It is a prescription medicine but it works really well for me. However, if I've got one of those horrid white heads, I warm up a bit of Tea Tree Oil and just apply it to the pimple for a while. By the morning it is usually gone. |

I HAVE A PIMPLE NOW....and it is Friday night : (
I use toothpaste, baking soda and water, and straight up alcohal followed by a lot of oil free moistureizer!!
of course all my make up is clarifying so that helps a ton too!!
I have found that Proactive works too but ONLY if you use it EVERY SINGLE MORNING AND NIGHT...which i didnt hehehe I am a slacker!!
but until i find that one thing that clears it up right away I am sticking to concealer and dark lights at the clubs!
**Bisous**!! |

When I feel (or see) a pimple coming on, I roll on some Burt's Bees Blemish Stick and then dab a little mud mask over the top and leave it over night. The tough ones take two nights, but they are usually cleared up without ever progressing to the gross and obvious stages! |

I thought the elf products wuld not be good because of their low price. I love the fact that they do geat, even better than the expensive brands. Brushes are wonderful, love the new bare products. Love the fact that some products are small enough to carry a lot in your emergency make up kit. |

I use heat compresses and they work wonders for loosening up dirty pores to get rid of black heads and to take the sting out of full blown pimples. Heat kills the bacteria, too, so it's a win-win! |

I typically use Pure Simplicity's Neem mask. It's good for sucking all the bad gunk out of your face. It's also good for minimizing huge pores and especially good for those with oily skin. Since I have combo skin, I just put it on the bump and it's gone within a day or so. I've used it for at least 2-3 years and I love it. I do have to say that it does have a weird smell to it. And it does heat up a bit also. |

I have tried the burts bees version of the desert essence blemish stick and it works pretty well, I usually only get acne once a month of course, I start by cleansing and then following with a clay based mask {olay makes a great one} or St. Helen{i believe that is the name} makes a mint julep mask that sucks the oil right out of your face- rinse and dab on the old trick of rubbing alchohol on the area and usually gone within a day. |

My favorite trick is to use hydrogen peroxide on the pimple if it has broken, then once it is dry, pat undereye concealer on top (thicker = better coverage) then setting with powder.
Washing every night with an oil free cleanser helps me too, I have oily skin. Keep them from popping up!

I've found that liberal use of aloe vera gel prevents me from having breakouts of any type. I just put it on after I shower; it can be used virtually anywhere, even your hair~! Plus, it smells good. :D
If you don't want to buy it in gel form, you can buy the actual plant. They're easy to take care of, and when you need it, you can just slice open a leaf and rub it on. :D |

I use tea tree oil soap on my flare up problem areas and tea tree oil on a wet cotton ball to really wipe below the surface. After a good gentle wash and rub I let my face air dry and then use a tea tree soothing gel for the really dry spots once I'm done.
It was the answer to my 10 year bout with all the time acne and now it helps between cycles too. |

A treatment device like the Zeno, Thermaclear, or Pretika's DermaHeat (that I recommend because it works great, is around $50 and you don't have to buy replacement carthridges), all work really well, and yes I have them all. It works the best if you can catch the pimple before it breaks through the skin. If you can get it then, more often than not, it will be gone by the next day. I've also noticed that using a cleanser for acne makes my skin worse. I use a gentle cleanser twice a day, and use pure witch hazel as a toner (you can add a little lavender oil if you like). As for a moisturizer, if you have oily, acne prone skin, hazelnut oil is a GREAT moisturizer. It's an oil, but it is astringent, and it will balance out your skin's oil production. Just be sure to still use sun protection. My skin has cleared considerably after using this method. |

WASH YOUR PILLOWCASES.
I started washing my pillowcases once a week and saw a dramatic decrease in breaking out and skin irritation. Think of all the grit and grim from your hair or from drool or just the day itself and it builds on the pillows. Washing them once a week eliminates that and helps decrease breakouts. It helped me. |

Asprin. You can use is as a facial mask or as spot treatment. Just take 1-5 asprin tablets, add some water and let them dissolve, mix it up and use it anywhere you need it. Wait until it dries and rinse off. Use once a week for spot-free skin. Just make sure you moisturize after you use it, especialy if you have dry skin. |

Has anyone tried putting toothpaste on your pimple? I'm sure thats the most common, but also to get rid of the redness (not only in your eyes) but of your pimple but some visine on it, also for a facial... pepto bismal works best, even mixing kitty litter with water can work as a face mask. I know the kitty litter one sounds gross, so if you don't want to try that definitely try the Pepto Bismal facial, it works better than any other peel off face mask, and it leaves your skin feeling so smooth. |

For pesky pimples first I try not to squeeze them, if it needs to be done I try not to over due it. Then I just wash my face massaging the cleanser in and rinsing off with lots of water. I only wash once a day unless I have worn make up and then I just rinse with water the second time so that I don't dry out. |

Using a mild astringent such as witch hazel before applying make up and also before bedtime seems to reduce my breakouts. Also, when I do get a blemish - taking ibuprofen seems to reduce inflammation and using a small dab of toothpaste dries it out! |

I find that using something somewhat drying helps because my skin is so oily. i got a prescription cream that is my new beauty miracle. it i better than anything i tried from a store (and i tried them...proactive, aveda, clean and clear, biore.....) i highly recomend seeing a doctor if nothing in the store helps.
oh and dont touch the offending spots! no matter how tempting..... |

I have always used Tea Tree oil for blemishes. This is the first blemish stick I've seen and can't wait to try it. |

An overnight cure for zits that I have become attached to is toothpaste. Just dab a little on the blemish right before you go to bed and in the morning the blemish will have shrunk dramatically. But make sure the toothpaste you use doesn't have the tartar protection or anything fancy. You just want the regular light blue toothpaste. Also, take some Ibuprofen to help the swelling go down as well as the redness. IT WORKS, trust me! |

My pimple-gone-secret is that I put some neosporin directly on a pimple after I have popped it. (Please do this at night). |

I love tea tree oil as well! But first, I usually wet a wash cloth with warm water and hold it over my face - especially any area with a pimple - this opens the pores and then I apply the tea tree oil. It works great to dry up the pimple. It also helps to make sure you remove all your makeup before bed. Be kind to your face and keep it clean of makeup when you can. =) |

I put a little bit of alcohol on a cotton ball, clean the pimple and apply Clean and Clear Acne Advantage Spot treatment. Just don't pop the pimple! The more you mess with it, the more your skin will scar. |

I usually wash the area at least three times a day, and then leave a little dab of the soap on the spot overnight! It doesn't work everytime, but it definitely seems to at least speed things up! |

I know this might sound gross, but I promise it really works. When I feel a pimple coming, what I do is put some of my saliva on it and it clears up within a day or two. |

I use this over the counter drug called Zypzap and it works wonders! It is 10% benzoic Acid or something and so it's really strong. It can be drying but just don't overdo it! |

My tip for removing pimples is using toothpaste. Dab white toothpaste, not the gel kind, and let it sit on your face overnight. |

i use a dab of plain white tooth paste on the blemish to dry it out. leave it there while you do your hair or eat breakfast or somehting. if its a really bad one you can even do it iver night. it dries out the pimple. then take a wet rag and micrwave it for about 30 seconds to get it really hot. hold over face for a couple of minutes then wash as usual. after you wash you face with hot water you should always rinse with cold water to close the pores. |

I use lemon, and tumeric paste. Indian people use tumeric alot to remove marks on their skin, and the lemon not only makes your face smell lemmony fresh it also dries up the pimple...well for me that is!!! |

I have a great blemish treatment that I have found works with my combination skin. Its very easy and you make it at home; most of us have these ingredients at home and if you dont, its very inexpensive.
Tomato Blemish Remedy
1 tomato, ripe, chopped
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 T instant style oatmeal or old fashioned rolled oats
Blend all ingredients until just combined, in a paste. Apply to blemished skin, making sure the mixture is thick enough to stay in place. Leave in place 10 minutes. Remove with damp washcloth, and rinse and tone.
Good luck!
