Which Sex and the City girl are you?

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

A few weeks ago one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year made its debut in theaters across the country. Anxious fans who have been waiting for a few years now were eager to break out the cosmos and Manolos. Yes, if you haven’t already guessed I'm talking about the Sex and the City movie. I was so excited that l finally got a chance to see the movie last night with one of my girlfriends! After seeing the movie and of course in true Carrie form....I got to thinking about relationships and the ones you have with your girlfriends.

Do you have a tight knit group like the one in the movie? Who's the Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda of your group? Which character are you?

I'd have to say that I'm a mix betweeen Carrie and Samantha. I love fashion, but at the same time I'm not going to spend 500 bucks on a purse lol. If I want something that bad, I'll get it, but for cheaper. That's what makes me kind of like Samantha because when she wants something, well she gets it!

Ahh..I don't think that there is one of each of the characters in my group of girls but I am definitely Charolette, we do have a Carrie (she is a true fashionista!), our Samantha is a bit tamer but still pretty, umm, well Adventurous - but we don't really have a Miranda - hey maybe we will have to add one!

I would say I am most like Charlotte. I want to have children and family is very important to me. I am also a hopeless romantic like Charlotte. I don't know if any of my friends are "Samantha"s but I would say we have the rest of them covered. My girlfriends and I went to see the movie on opening night and we all loved it! :)

Ok, so I have yet to see the movie! I know, that is horrible. A few girl friends of mine have gone and LOVED it. I think personally, I am a nice mixture of all the girls. Fun, fashionable, some what quiet and conservative, yet loud and knowing just what I want and how I have to get it at times. I cant wait to see the movie. :)

I would say Carrie, she is the most easy going and likable. She is not intimidating in anyway. She has a great sense of style that is all her own and unique.

i do have tight knit group like the satc girls which im fortunate to be in. I'm def. the charlotte in the group, very naive and conservative. i think unlike TV & movies, tight knit groups tend to have the same personalities, so what makes us different are the styles of clothing we were. my friend kristina is samatha, she loves red and to stand out. i like pretty dresses and natural makeup. My friend Cindy is miranda, only wear makeup at special events. Carrie... I think we are all Carrie. we are always looking for the lastest style!

I would definitely say a mixture of all 4 characters. And not necessarily the best traits of each woman but a culmination of their quirks hang ups and humor.

Definately a Samantha. I know what I want, when I want it, and how I want it. I don't care if only men have it, if its restricted somehow, it must be mine, no matter what the cost. Like good men, somethings must be had, no matter what the cost

Hi, I am definitely charlotte types-'just a little' conservative yet trendy & gossippy with friends! We have a Carrie in our group though a moderate form-expensive tastes & a shopocoholic but would still keep some money in bank! We have a Miranda(intelligent)& Samantha(sexy/flirty but not jumping in bed everytime) characteristics in 2 of other girlfriends but not full fledged!Thts our little subgroup in a bigger group!

However much I wish I could be more like Samantha, I have to say I see myself more as Charlotte. I do love Sam's confidence and her once "try anything once attitude". I used to have a tight knit group. We compared each other to the characters of "Friends". Since graduating school I have lost touch with alot of the girls and guys I used to be close to. Just work. then dinner then waiting to do it all over again. Just doesnt seem like theres time to hang out and be goofy. Kind of like when Miranda had the baby and felt like she wasnt part of the group anymore.

wow, i'm actually been starting to watch the episodes from the show right now, before i watch the movie. and from just the series, I find myself more of a Charlotte, being that she's soo innocent sometimes and the girlious girl of the bunch. And even to my name is Samantha, i don't like to see myself or any of my girlfriends as Samantha. as for Miranda.. i think maybe my friend Cat, because i feel like miranda is sometimes like tomboyish, which is what cat is like, but still wanting to find the one guy to be with.

I like to think that I'm the perfect combination but I'm not. I do have all of them in me a little, but definitely not the right amounts. I've been Carrie in my high school years and Samantha in my college years. I turned into Miranda the day I found out I was pregant and I always acted a little like Charlotte when no one else was around. I guess I'm Charlotte... I like to try everything but I'm way too conservative and scared to actually do it. I still want the white picket fence and matching tea set even though I've had way too many failed relationships to see it happening. I guess I'm a happy medium of them all but, I'm even happier knowing that mostly I'm Charlotte.

I don't really know that I have such a tight knit group as in the movie. I feel that I have a spread out group but I know that with time, some of us will stay together and some of us will split apart. People definatley become closer throughout life...it doesn't just magically happen.

We used to have weekly Sex in the City party night, but nothing topped our Sex in the City girls night out we had for the movie premiere...we had a blast and now can't wait until the next Sex in the City movie is made.

Yes, my friends and I are very close like their friendship. We always gossip & talk about our love life lol. I think I'm more of a Charlotte, as she's soo quiet and really flirty and girly and the youngest. My friend Carly is like Carrie (kinda the same name too) as she loves shoes and designer stuff. My friend Marie is like Samatha as she is the oldest out of all of us and has gone out with a lot of guys. My friend Sarah is like Miranda as she has children (like her) and is very successful as she is in a high class profession (like Miranda who is a lawyer). Thanks for allowing me to share my opinion!!

I'd have to say I'm a mix between Carrie and Samantha. I love how Carrie is so independent but loves analyzing all of her relationships...even friendships. Samantha is a little weak emotionally, but she's sensitive and emotional which I am as well!!

I came late in life to enjoying the company of girlfriends, having spent my 20s and 30s seeing most women as "competition". One of the things I loved most about SITC was the womens' ability to put that competitiveness aside and bond because they NEEDED each other. At 41, that's where I am with my gal pals, too. I'm married with two kids, so I can't completely relate to any of the characters. That said, I'm probably more Carrie than my girlfriends: I love my house; I'm a writer; and my relationship with my husband (before we got married) defied everyone's expectations. (I still think my mother has a bet on how long it'll last.) My girl Nancy's the Miranda in my life: a bit brittle but if you press hard enough (without leaving her feeling pressured) you'll find a rich trove of thoughtfulness. She's definitely Type A, but primarily because she bought into the notion that women have to somehow prove they're better than men. Ah, my Miranda! She'll learn, as I did, that apples don't have anything to prove to oranges. Our Charlotte is Juliette, right down to the last three letters of their names which serve to imply a diminutive form. She's extremely conservative, although most of that comes from a fear of looking goofy were she to try on different perspectives. Despite being a picture-perfect, straight-A kind of gal she's got a bit of a wild side that surprises us all: she's the first to order shots of tequila whenever we go out, although she's also the first to find the fat guy at the end of the bar "kinda cute". Celia is my Samantha. I'd tell you more about their similarities but I don't feel like outing my daring, lusty gal-pal on a public blog. Let's just say that when we're all in the mood for something different we let Celia plan the night's outings. And meanwhile we all somehow manage to coordinate our clothes. No, we don't plan that and there's no memo circulating. It just happens. Kind of like trouble "just happens", too, when we're together.

It will always be Miranda! I mean she's the only woman on the show that has the life of an regular "real" woman--she holds down a job that requires her to go into the office and expresses concern over housing costs, etc. Her realism helps balance out the fabulous fantasy life of the other three women.

i've got to say that while i am in a great, tight-knit group of friends, there's a little of Charlotte in all of us! some are intent on raisin a family, others are into a classic wardrobe, but while some have Carrie's fashion sense or Miranda's ambition or Samantha's love of, well, men, we all embrace our inner Charlotte most often!

I'm still looking for that ideal tight-knit group, but I have a fairly close bunch of friends. In that bunch, I guess I would have to be either the Samantha (because I am confident, open-minded, and possibly a little oversexed), or Carrie (because although I love the physical side of relationships, I'm in them for love, and because I'm a writer).

I love all 4 girls and the unique flare each brings to the table. But most of all I love Charlotte and all my friends do agree that her zeal and positive outlook on love and relationships describes me to a tee. Not to mention her classy, sophisticated fashion sense. My two best friends each have one of the girls playing their roles. One is definitely a Samantha and the other a hybrid of Carrie and Miranda. We have been friends for years. Though we live in different cities we can certainly identify with circumstances and issues that both the movie and the series addressed!

However like Samantha I love myself way more than I could love any man and my friends mean the world to me... they're the family I've chosen. I'm disturbed by the thought of marriage but can't envision me living a life devoid of companionship. It's a weird place to be in but it works for me.

Without a doubt, I am closest to Carrie. My shopping habits tend to put me in debt. I just watched an episode where her and Aidan had broken up, and she was forced to try to buy her apartment. I am currently going through lending issues myself, mainly because of the tight lending laws right now, and I was sitting there wishing I had a friend like Charlotte to lend me the money. Also, I am 39, had a string of failed relationships and have a soft spot for an emotionally unavailable man. In other words, I have my own "Big". I haven't seen the movie yet, mainly because of a very busy schedule. I'm hoping that Carrie finally has her happy ending, so that maybe that will give me hope for one of my own.

I had a similar group in college, and I was clearly Sam. I think in many ways I am still Sam, I reflect her independence, self-interest, and strength as well as charisma. However, when in a comitted relationship, I tend more the the neurotic nature of Carrie, and the loyal idealism of Charlotte. I think most women can closely relate to one of the 4, however, each woman in different aspects of her life resembles different characteristics from each of the women featured on the show.

It would be fab to get together with all of one's friends weekly or more often. I think that is why this show has been such a hit. We all long for that close knit group of girlfriends.

Who doesn't want to love them and leave them like Samantha? Who doesn't believe in prince charming and happily ever after like Charlotte? Who isn't a strong women like Miranda? What a fun group of girls..and my friends are just like them, strong, smart ,sexy and fun

My other friend Ana is also like Carrie. Kacey would be most like Samantha, adventurous =]]]....but not full out Samantha. My friend Courtney is most liek Charlotte conservative and trendy<3. I have a group a gals that I have a very similar relationship as the sex and the city girls. I would say I am Carrie I have had a Aden and a big all rolled up in one man the non commited part of big is in this one and the so laid back and simplness of Aden is in him aswell. My friend Renee is Samantha now she is older as Somantha but she has no problems getting the men. Monica is Miranda close friend I can count on but always tells you like it is. And my Charlotte is Ria so perfect with everything including her man. Everyone needs a Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda in their lives. It just makes life that much better.

I don't know anyone who is all "Carrie" or all "Samantha". All tests I have taken show me as a mix-40% Miranda, 40% Samantha and 20% Carrie. Basically, I am a cynical man-hunter who questions things. I love the way Charlotte dresses and wish I had the guts to try some of the outfits Carrie and Samantha wear. My best friend is a Charlotte. Through and through.

Yes, I have a tight knit group like the one in the movie, and we are the BEST of friends. I am lucky enough to have my sisters as my best friends. We don't have a Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte or Miranda in our group, though, as none of us are promiscuous. We all feel that sex is something very special between husband and wife only, and feel that babies are a blessing from God. Overlooking those two glaring dissimilarities, I would have to say I am a Charlotte; always seeing the best in things (the glass is half full).

all through high school i was best friends with these three girls and actually one night we were just relaxing at ones house and we started talking about sex and the city and assigned each other our roles...my friend Alex was defiantly Samantha...out of the rest of us she was the most open with her sexuality. my friend Kirsten was Miranda the one with her head on her shoulders....my friends deepa was Charlotte...it was almost as if she sculpted herself after her....and i was left to be Carrie but i think it was partially because she was the only character left haha

I would say I am more of a Samantha than Carrie. As for our group, we do have one of each: Sam, Carrie, Charlotte (who is still waiting to get married), and Miranda. I love Samantha's ability to get what she wants, and when she wants. I am not nearly as adventurous as she, but close enough to be her Vs. any of the other girls.

She doesn't sleep around, but she does have that overflowing confidence about her. My friend Mary Anne is like Charlotte. She has this quiet beauty and is the forever optimist. She never doubts that true love is just around the corner and she's looking for her prince charming. I am the Carrie because of the over obsessive way that I act. Plus, I'm the writer of the bunch, so it seems fitting. Even so, I am the one most obsessed with shoes and fashion.

I have never had a tight group of female friends. I'm one of those girls who relates more to guys, but I do have one or two people who always find me and seem to remind me who I am if I ever forget. That is the most important thing about a friend, I think. I am Miranda. A strong woman living in a man's world. Physically I am nothing like her, but I relate to her frustration of trying to be a mother and a strong business women and how those roles are not accomidated in today's world. Yay for Sex in the City movie.

We have a standing date on the fourth Friday of every month to play bunko, have dinner and often stay up till the wee hours talking. We have gotten eachother through heartache and joys. The S&TC girls embody today's modern woman. I feel we each have a little bit of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte in all of us. If we are lucky enough to have such tight friendships with people, we should relish these relationships. It is not easy nowadays to find such great and lasting friends. I am the Carrie if my group, but feel I have a little of the other 3 girls. Cosmo anyone?

There are still a few that stay in touch - but I really miss the closeness of not having to explain myself, just like they have in the movie.

It makes for some very interesting get together since we all see each other at least 4 or 5 times a week. My sweet husband is very W.A.S.P.ish while I am aggressive sexually/work wise/motivated to try new things and get them done. I am so much more blunt and actually work planning events and as a project coordinator. The funniest part is that we all love to shop and would rather do more sporty/outdoorsy things given the choice. Metrosexual straight men and the new "super girlfriends".

Coincidentally I also have a gal group of 4. And we took a picture together, and supposedly we were wearing the same colored attire as each of the "Sex" girls. Based on my black black, I "was" Charlotte. But my friend is TOTALLY Charlotte. Like her, she's in the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, she doesn't like talking about sex, and she makes the same expressions as Charlotte! I swear they were the same person! I'm like Miranda because I'm the most practical and cynical, although my friend is studying to be a lawyer and she too is quite cynical and serious. I think the beauty of our group and of the "Sex" characters is that we can find ourselves in each of them and vice versa.

I've come across this question a few times in the last few weeks. Some days I'm a Carrie. I love writing, have a unnatural relationship with shoes, and know how to pick a non-committal man. Other times I feel like Miranda, who is usually who pops up when I take the quiz. I guess its because I'm quick witted, smart and practical, and a bit grounded. And then there are my Samantha days. Oh boy! Seeing her in action makes me feel less guilty at those times when I'm feeling well, less like an nun. Then there's the wide-eyed, hopeless romantic, ever the optimist Charlotte in me. I think there' a little of all the girls in all of us.

I think I have a little of each in me. I'm a romantic like Charlotte and want a family (expecting my 1st child in October). I'm kind of conservative like Miranda, and while I love fashion, I don't have to rush out and buy clothes or shoes that are insanely expensive. I did go through a scaled-back Samantha phase after splitting from my first husband. And like Carrie, I had a tendancy to get too serious about guys too quickly, until I found the right man. Like Carrie and Big, we had a lot of obstacles in our relationship, the main one being that we met when he came to my hometown to visit childhood friends that were now my frieds, but he lived 2300 miles away. Once I met him, I was never able to get him out of my head and I compared every other guy to him. I happy to say we've now been married for five years and are expecting our first child.

So Carrie - just the "in-between" girl. I think about my various friends in their various roles, often very much relating them to the Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda roles. I don't know how they view me, but I view myself as the one who doesn't have so much drama, who isn't so uptight, who isn't too career-directed - the one who is just trying to do her best and to get by. But maybe that's who we all think we are.

I most certainly do have a tight knit pack of chicas (there are four of us to be exact) that are just like the Sex In the City cast. I take the role of Miranda, we are both so pessimistic about the world. April, one of my best friends takes the role of Charlotte, a modern day June Cleaver. Shica lives and loves like Samantha and Kim lives the role of Carrie. We hang out, we shop, we blab about men and relationships and we do it all over Kettel One Martini's or brunch, or both.

I have had a very close relationship with 3 other girls for the past 12 years. We all married the same time, ended up divorced right around the same time and now are still as close as we can be. We watched every episode of Sex and the City together and made a party ritual of it. I think out of the 4 of us I could be considered the Miranda of the group and the girls agree, Kristi is Charlotte, Linda is Carrie and Brittany is definatly Samantha. We will miss the great girl bonding times from watching this show.

I TOTALLY have a Sex and the City group of girlfriends. I am the Charlotte - long, straight, dark hair and a very conservative personality. Miranda is the Miranda (how fitting) - fair skin, red hair, and an independent working girl attitude. Kiesha is our Carrie - narrow face, large bust, the skinniest of legs, and always into the latest trend. Callie is the Samantha - tall, blonde, outspoken and not at all shy, but I regret to inform you she does not sleep around. We loved the show and loved the movie even more. We are lucky to have friendships like those in Sex and the City!

Shes never in a long term relationship and if she is she grows tired of it and moves on. My other friend Holly is a Miranda. Very head strong, career driven, and a bit of a pain in the ass. lol. Now for a Charlette my friend Louis I think perfectly fits that mold. Shes very classy in attitude and dress. But in all honesty, I think we all have a bit of each charactor in us, some more than others.

I would definitely say I am Charlotte. I know how to have a good time but I am usually the quieter of the group. We sort of have a Carrie, she is very fashionable and stylish. Our Samantha is not quite as wild but definitely FUN! We then have a friend who acts like Miranda in some respects but then desparately wants to be a Carrie or a Samantha without pulling it off. But, we have a blast together and that is all that matters.

Laine is the ever fashinable Carrie. And myself.....I'm Samantha---not because of her sexual encounters, but because I'm the social queen---always looking for the next big event to attend. Thankfully, we've all found our soulmates and are happily married!

I would have to be Samantha, I am very outgoing and outspoken when it comes to men and everything that goes with them. Sabrina would have to be Miranda, the spunky redhead. Ashley would have to be Carrie, always very fashionable, most of the time ahead of the fashions. And Amie would have to be Charlotte, very reserved, gracious, and beautiful. We aren't as tightly knit these days because of VERY busy schedules, not because of a falling out.

I think everyone has a little bit of each Sex and the City character in them and that is why we can all relate to the show so easily. As much as we do not want to admit how similar we are, there is something in everyone. From a quick glance I am most like Carrie and Charlotte. I love style and fashion and am usually calm and down to earth in most situations but at the same time am always organized, love clean lines, and have a classic mindset. When it comes to business, Samantha and I are very similar in that we both know what we want, how to get it done, and don't put up with anything. As much as I don't want to admit I share the same stubborn mindset as Miranda.

I like the idea of fairytale-like happy endings; I am the peacemaker; I am the most sheltered and naive; and like to act proper in public. I am Miranda in that I like my job and don't do children, but will if I have to; I have Carrie's shoe fetish and issues going back to my "Big"; and I have moments where I can just say anything, no holds barred like Samantha.

It was very toxic. I didn't end up marrying him, thank goodness. He knocked some girl up, married her, but cheats on her faithfully and still has the audasity to call me periodically telling me I'm the only one he would ever be faithful to. Now that I am seetled with a husband and child, I realize now more than ever that I am Charlotte. I am a hopeless romantic, always will be, and have a positive solustion for everything. I would say that I am most like Carrie. The main reason I say this is because I feel like I have dialogue running through my head much like her columns. I over analyze and look at things like she does. Also, I have an infatuation with clothes and shoes.

my friends remind me so much of them. in my eyes i see myself as a Carrie . i love the way she sees life. i think the same way a lot. i think that my friend gabby is a Samantha, mostly because she acts and thinks the same. my newest friend Paige is a Charlotte all the way. She is more reserved and put together. my other fried is like Miranda , i see Miranda as a tomboy, and i think my friend Anna in the same way.

I'd have to say I'd be closest to Carrie....personality wise we're a little different cause I'd have to admit I don't fall in love as easily as she might, but as far as style goes I'm definitely closest to Carrie's eclectic tastes. She's funky, fierce, and definitely wears her heart on her sleeves. She's all about art and expression with an urban twist. Whether its a flower in her hair one day, or zebra print jacket the next that's definitely my flavor. My closet is like a thrift shop its got a little bit of everything, and I'm totally loving it!!!!

I am not a consistent sex and the city fan but one of my best friends dragged me along to our local theater's premier for the movie... and i was so happy she did. it was hilarious and reminded me so much of my friends at college. The most specific part in the movie which reminded me of my friends was when the women are at lunch and use coloring as a code word for sex. My friends and I do this all the time so we can talk about inappropriate things at all times. I really wish I had been much bigger of a fan before the movie. As far as which sex and the city woman I am.. I used to be a Samantha but I finally found a Dante that takes care of anything else I could possibly want so I've turned into a Carrie : )

I have a tight knit group of friends who hang out all the time!! I would say i am Carrie because i have a unique fashion sense. My friend amanda is most like Charlotte because she is most conservative. My other friend Aubrey is most like Miranda because she is has very clinical views on different things. Lisa is most like Samantha because she is very independent and doesn't really care what any one else has to say.

I have a group of frineds that all posses characteristics of all the characters. I would have to say for me...well it would have to be a mixture of all four. Depending on what I'm wearing or what event I will be attending you never know who your gonna get.

I think every girl can relate to the Sex and the City characters. They are all so different and that's what makes the show such a hit. Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda all remind me of my girlfriends and myself. One of my friends is def. a Samantha, she is the "try anything at least once" type of girl. The show is amazing because it takes a true friendship through the rollercoaster of life, everything girlfriends share: love, laughter, inside jokes, tears, and everything in between. I am not sure which character I am but I think I might be a Carrie. :)

Most of the time, I feel like a mix of Carrie and Miranda myself, but I can really relate to each woman in the foursome. What a great group of strong, smart, sexy, and independent women!

I am an avid fan of the show, and love the close-knit relationship of the women. I find though, that it borders on being fantasy, as it is difficult to maintain this closeness when there are 4 different careers and stages in life. I'd love to find out how many other women out there have this type of a group of friends as I am jealous!!! I have aspects of my personality that can be linked to any of these 4 women, but Miranda is the one that I identify with the most. We're both headstrong, career-driven women who have a hard shell on the outside to protect our vulnerabilities.

I am now a mother of two kids, including one new baby four months old, but when the sex and the city movie debut I asked my husband to have a girls night out to watch it. I got dressed while my baby was taking a nap, I put on my SPF 15 SHIELDING HYDRO TINT, my healthy glow bronzing powder, and my plumping lip glauze. Fabulous! I went with my girlfriends and we had drinks after. It was wonderful to go out and hang out with the girls. By the way I think I am a mix of Carrie and Charlotte

I think the beauty of the Sex and the City girls is that you can see yourself in each of them. A little bit of Carrie's quirk, some of Samantha's moves (if you know what I mean), those uptight moments like Charlotte and the times when your a strong, opinionated and not afraid to voice it woman like Miranda. Even though I'd really like to stat in my comment that I'm a tried and true Samantha, MEOW!

Although we were in jeans and flip flops, we left the theater arm and arm eager to have a beer together. Hey, it may not have been a cosmo, but the relationships and bonds are the same.

Im not as daring fashion-wise as the other sex and the city girls. plus, i have kids so the pic of miranda with the boobies hangin out is not my reality. 36d is all i have to say about that. and thats this week! im not too sure about next week.lol!

Carrie's beyond my fashionable mind, but her knack for shopping & impulse buys is alot like me. Charlotte's tendency to be the proper & perfect is probably alter-ego in me....it comes with the expectations that weigh on my shoulders.

my circle of friends decided long ago who is who based on the sex and the city girls. i am definitely carrie, not so much in the fashionista way but in the i cant make up my mind about my love life, do i want to get marrie and settle down or still live life like a 20-something? my friend meghan is definitely samantha, she is boisterous and flirtatious to a max and gets anything she wants. jenny is charlotte - she is too cautious about everything and always trying to be perfectly nice, right, and careful and finaly, nicole is mirand ....nothing goes right for that girl, something always is coming up, totally bizarre and we just have to wonder about her. but put all 4 of us together and you couldnt find better, closer girlfriends. we have so much fun 24/7 no matter whats going on in our personal lives.

I would have to say out of my group of friends, I am probably a mix between Charlotte and Carrie. I'm a mom and fairly conservative, but I love fashion and being trendy and am not afraid to take fashion risks. My cousin in law is definately a Samantha, although she's a mom and happily married, she is wild and so open about sex. My friend from home is a Miranda, she has an amazing job, keeps it real all the time, but wants a family and all the stability that goes with that, but is all about girl power! And my other good friend, who is also married is a mix of all the girls really. She's fun and trendy, open about her sex life, very independent of her husband without being over the top, but also very conservative with how she puts herself out there to the world, definately makes sure to come off with the right image.
