White Teeth

Friday, January 09, 2009

Everybody wants to have the whitest teeth possible these days. And can you really blame them? Having a bright white smile is like an instant confidence boost whenever you open your mouth. So it’s no wonder that teeth whitening products are still advancing and new systems are becoming more innovative. One system, Luster 1 Hour White, has been getting a lot of buzz. I looked into it and found the premise of the system  different and exciting. The idea is that you can get dentist office results at home with an easy three step system. First, you use a light similar to the one used at the dentist to prepare your teeth for the whitening procedure. You then follow with a mouthwash to further ready your teeth for whitening. And then the grand finale…the whitening gel! It claims to whiten teeth six shades in one hour, without making your teeth sensitive and uncomfortable. When a product gives you such high hopes, don’t you just have to try it?! And at $39.99, the price doesn’t soar too much higher than the usual whitening suspects. So, what do you think? Is it genius or does it sound just too good to be true? Check out their website and give us some feedback..just click here: WHITENING. Is a perfectly luminous smile important to you? How do you go about keeping your pearly whites nice and pearly?

And for every valid web comment on this blog only we will give you a Free $5 e.l.f. coupon via email just to say thanks (1 per person, to the first 100 posts only).

On keeping pearly whites nice and pearly, I recommend adding a pinch of baking soda to toothpaste when brushing teeth. During the day, drink healthy amounts of tap water as flouride also helps keep teeth enamel strong and water also helps prevent teeth from getting all sorts of stains.

Now THAT is something I will be looking into! I'm really interested to read reviews for the sensitive teeth aspect- I had a terrible time with the Crest original whitening strips because by the last few minutes, my teeth were very unhappy with me. And I didn't even notice a whitening difference to boot :(

I have been trying Whitening products recently to whiten my teeth, I used Listerine white strips and I use whitening toothpaste and mouthwash. I haven't noticed any significant results. I am an avid coffee drinker, so my teeth are stained from that. I just bought Crest WhiteStrips, so we'll see if these do the trick. If not, I might just check out this new whitening system. It's not too expensive if it does what it says.

This really does look promising. I just hope it doesn't make my teeth hurt. I drink a lot of coffee so my teeth always stay stained. The witening strips always take too long. If I could get dentist office results in one hour that would be great! and the price isn't to bad.

I have been looking into different products to use for whitening my teeth lately. I've tried toothpastes, mouthwashes, etc. It seems that those only show a slight difference over time. I am curious about the fact that it states to whiten teeth six shades in one hour! Having a bright smile is very important to me and I am always looking for ways to improve my smile =)

I think it sounds too good to be true. I have had yellowed teeth since I got teeth and the doctors have said that it was not anything my parents did. They suggested whitening and I have tried various different systems and even ones that claim you will not have sensitive teeth have left me with sensitive teeth. I also thing the one hour seems impossible...call me a skeptic, but that is my thought.

This product sounds amazing! I can't wait to try it! I used to use the Crest Whitestrips to make my smile brighter, but I hated keeping them on for so long. They would constantly make me spit out the gel that left the strip :( This sounds like a great way to get a brighter smile and at such a competitive price! 6 shades does however seem a little unbelievable in one treatment, but I am willing to try it. Thanks for the info on this product!

I can never get white strips to stay put on my teeth, so if I use a whitener, I buy the kind that comes with the gel-filled trays. I brush twice a day and then about once a year (usually right before the holiday season) I use a whitening gel for a couple of weeks, and I'm good to go for a year or so. PS- It seems to work... my teeth always look brighter than everybody else's in pictures! :o)

MmmHmmm, A healthy smile is a MUST for health and an absolute must to look my best. Their system looks good and the price is right-- if I weren't set up already I would try it. My advice for glam choppers starts with basic hygiene (FLOSS!! It will save you from bad breath and dentures-- WAY un-pretty) I had bleaching trays made by a pro and buy peroxide gel online. It's a huge money saver and different strengths are available. Oddly, NOT brushing before bleaching reduces sensitivity. I'm not sure why, but that tip came straight from my dentist, and it works. Please do not overdo the process... it's not healthy and teeth turn almost bluish-white. Weird-looking is the polite term for overbleached teeth. I don't avoid stain-y food and drinks (coffee, red wine, berries, etc.) but I do brush as soon as possible after indulging. Go ahead and bleach AFTER a professional cleaning (tarter stains very very fast!) and your teeth and gums are certified healthy. If your dentist insists that you purchase their bleaching, find a dentist who doesn't need alimony cash that badly-- I get great results at home and it takes YEARS off my appearance. Healthy is beautiful!

White teeth are important to me as I do a lot of public speaking and drink a lot of coffee! I have tried whitening toothpastes and the at-home kits to no avail, mostly because I have very sensitive teeth. I have to take the product off my teeth before the minimum whitening time is reached because the sensation is so unpleasant. (I am a wimp...) This, however, claims to be clinically proven not to cause sensitivity...it's worth a shot. I also like the name of the company -- a cute play on words.

At $39.99 this sounds way too good to be true, but maybe technology has become so advanced that science like this one is relatively inexpensive to achieve now a days. I think I will have to stick to my Aquafresh Extreme Clean Whitening Tooth paste until a friend of mine has the extra cash to try it and let me know how it works for herself.

I completely agree with elfling's comment. Baking Soda is infinitely cheaper and doesn't require much effort! And from reading the reviews this product seems to be a pretty big hassle for minimum results. I would rather just use home remedies or get it professionally done, at least then I'm either guaranteed of the results or I'm not too let down when it doesn't pan out. This seems like it would just get my hopes up. :P

In my personal opinion, I'd rather let the dentist do all the major work and let myself deal with the smaller things. Like brushing my teeth, flossing, eating right and all that. They're trained in whitening procedures. I'm not. Leave it to the professionals. As for what I do, listerne and toothpaste. That's all you need.

Plus I'm a pretty natural dark skin lady, nothing against the blondies but dark skins are like more resistant to wrinkles. My point is that keeping your teeth natural white and a healthy glow belive me that's good enough to look young, actually you have to ad something really important, high selfsteem and confidence.

I don't think it sounds to good to be true, there are a lot of products at the drugstores that give you amazing results as well, so this product could also work, and I think they will return the money if you dont like the results. I just think people who smoke or drink coffe should not except to see to much of an improvement on the first try. I think I perfect white smile is important, it could show youthfulness and healt. I use whitening products like the toothpaste and mouthwash.

Im an "older" Mom and have always prided my super white teeth- I use a kit type whitener about 2 times a year, along with seeing the dentist regularly. The kits out there work good, but I like the idea of this products quicker results for about the same price as those that take about a week- Im there for the next round....my whiter teeth make me look mid thirty-ish rather than mid forty-ish-thanks

I am a bit wary of these products since my sister used some whitening products for a while and I could def. not tell a difference. The only thing that has worked for me is actually going to the dentist and getting whitening done. And yes, a white smile is important to me. :) I may give this a try though.

The best way to keep your teeth glistening is to brush and floss daily! Daily teeth whiteners have harsh chemicals that wear away at your enamel. The better option would be to have it done once professionally (although costly, it would save you a lifetime of $40 kits and sensitive enamel!) A cheaper way is to offset your tooth color by using lipstick with blue undertones. This will instantly make your teeth look whiter!

It sounds too good to be true! 6 shades whiter in one hour? If it truly did work, I can only imagine the pain/tooth sensitivity that would be involved with peroxide that strong. The easier route would be to brush and floss regularly along with regular visits to your dentist for a professional cleaning.

I've done dentist-office whitening ($$$) and several versions of the trays (messy and/or $$.) From my experience, and for my money, I'd go with Crest Whitestrips. There's the 15 or 20 minute version. Which is fine-- but a long time to walk around with something stuck to your teeth. My faves the 5-minute version. Stick 'em on, jump in the shower in the morning. By the time I get out, I take it off, brush my teeth, and start the day with a bright smile. Coupons frequently available.

This is for girls that love daily showers AND multi-tasking. Keep a bottle of hydrogen peroxide (the drugstore variety...7%)...my walgreen's it costs 79 cents and lasts forever for this purpose. When you get in the shower AFTER brushing teeth, take a capful of hydrogen peroxide and swish it around over your teeth while you are showering (about 10 minutes). Then spit out the hydrogen peroxide and rinse your mouth out with water. Your teeth look great after about 7 days....removes coffee stains, etc. Caveat: it will bubble and fill your mouth, don't worry, just be prepared it you have never used hydrogen peroxide, it also helps prevent gum disease.

I think it sounds too good to be true. $39 for a 1 hour treatment.....I would be hesitant to try it, for fear of it eating all the enamel off of my teeth.....or turning my teeth blue, brown or any other shade but white. For my teeth whiting, I make sure to go to a dentist to ensure that my results will be what I want. If at home, I would stick with Colgate. But let me also say that everything that is more expensive isn't always good!

Personally, I think that it sounds too good to be true. I do believe that there are products out there that do assist with whitening teeth, but in my personal opinion, a lot of what maintains white teeth is how the owner of them takes care of them. Smoking, drinking coffee and dark liquids, not brushing and flossing is what causes the teeth to become discolored. Drinking dark liquids, including coffee, from a straw can assist with the liquids not reaching the front of the teeth. I do believe in treatments such as the white strips which do not take up too much time, but as someone with such a busy and hectic schedule, I don't necessarily have the time to follow all of those steps and spend an hour whitening my teeth. The cheap Crest White Strips work just fine on my teeth and they're simple and fast to use. But again, I believe that it is all in how the owner of the teeth maintains a healthy smile - take care of your mouth and it will take care of you!

I floss throughout the day. My teeth are white. I don't smoke nor do I drink coffee. I am sure this contributes to my teeth being so white.

And i'm always on the search for effective and affordable products, so i think that product sounds great. I brush a minimum of two time a day, and if i happen to be home I brush after each meal. I usually floss in the mornings, i tend not to floss every time i brush throughout the day because i have sensitive gums. I Love mouth wash, i'm not prone to bad breath but i just love the refreshing feel it leaves afterwards, so i hoped that helped... Plus Model Sheena

At $39.99, it some what seems too good to be true. However, whats wrong with trying? If you truly think that whitening your teeth will boost your confidence, why not do it. If you have the $40 to spend on it, it seems like a good deal. But before choosing that option, look into other products. Do some good research other products and choose the ones that you think are the best. Remember, not every product or method will work, but there are some that do work. -Tina =)

One of the best products I have found that not only whitens my teeth unbelievably well is Jason Sea Fresh toothpaste with CoQ10 and blue green algae. It has a suprisingly great flavor and DOESN'T have a lot of the stuff other toothpastes do. No Saccharin, preservatives, artificial colors or flavors, animal by-products, animal testing, lauryl sulfates, and no propolyene glycol. I switched to it because it was natural and didnt have glass in it. I feel in love with it when I saw how white it made my teeth and how healthy it made my gums.

I had a stain on one of my teeth. I had some white strips and tried them, but then my gums got really sore. After I saw a woman on our local Fox affiliate extolling the virtues of ordinary baking soda. for teeth whitening, I dampened my finger and dipped it in the baking soda and rubbed the baking soda over the stain a few times. Surprise! The stain disappeared. It's worth a try if you're just trying to get rid of stains from coffee, tea etc.

I have tried just about every product and always end up with very sensitive teeth. I now use the Listerine dissolving whitening strips because they don't stay on quite as long. However, I still can only use them every other day and have to use a desensitizing toothpaste, so the process can take forever. I would love a whitening system I only have to use once. It sounds too good to be true, but I would definitely give it a try! But I might wait for someone else to try it first to see if it really does cause sensitivity.

I wouldn't try this product. Although I would love to have the whitest teeth I could, I also know that with the amount of coffee, Diet Coke, and other staining foods I take in, the whitening would wear off eventually. So I tend to stick with el cheapo white strips and just do the 14 day pack when my teeth really start to show the stain. It lasts for a good 3-4 months and it costs nearly nothing. Cheap, easy, and nearly pain and time free.

I have used many whitening products and while I do have very white teeth, I found that whitening tooth paste works the best and is the safest. I do not believe that this product is safe for tooth enamel, gums, etc., because there is not way that it is not making your teeth sensitive

The item seems too good to be true. Also, there aren't enough reviews on the actual site to make a conclusion that it actually works. I would wait until the product is used and reviewed a bit more by others. However, reviews aren't always trustworthy because you never know who is writing them. I tried the GoSmile, sold at Sephora, because the ratings were great. It really did not change the shade of my teeth at all. It was too expensive to be disappointed in the end.

well i use crest white strips. the box gives you enough for up to 2 weeks of strips if you use them twice a day but i only had to use them for a week and my teeth were as white as i wanted to go! it did make my teeth sensitive to the cold right after using them but that was supposedly normal. i think any kind of whitening product is going to make your teeth a little more sensitive because it strips your enamel to get it back to being white.

I've used a whitening system based on a somewhat similar program to Luster 1 Hour White. It's called Klear Action. I'm not a stranger to the idea of using a light to accelerate the whitening process. For years I've worn gel strips to the tanning bed to get a boost while I bake. While the results are okay, I don't think it makes my teeth any whiter overall than my current system - Crest Whitestrips Pro Effects. The light systems require your mouth to be open for extended periods which leads to aching jaws. I prefer the less obtrusive strips which I can wear anytime and any place. Whitestrips are expensive as well. But I have never got a better result, and I drink coffee and smoke every day.

I believe it is important to have teeth that are white when smiling. But to say perfectly luminous, is a bit strong. I find that when watching tv or reading magazines, and the celebs that have the bright white, almost bleach teeth is abnormal looking. You know the type that you need to wear sunglasses around. I think that proper oral hygiene and caring for your teeth makes a smile more genuine. I am not saying that it is wrong to use those types of products. Just don't over do it.

Be carefull with whitening toothpastes, they actually have grit in them and rub at the enamel and remove it which damages your teeth before it really even whitens them. I use the same product I got from the dentist I just buy it from Amazon at a fraction of the price. I think the dentist wanted to charge me over $50 for one box and online I found 2 boxes for under $25. It is called Day White Excel 3 ACP 9.5% Teeth Whitening 6pk Kit. It does not come with a tray.

The one that I have requires you to do the mouthwash, gel, and the light about 20 times in an hour. If you have an hour to spare I recommend trying it, but. . . if you have kids, like me, finding an hour to whiten my teeth is just about impossible.

I must admit the first thing I look at when I meet someone for the first time is their teeth. Especially a guy, if his teeth arent white or looks like he takes care of his mouth, I lose interest in talking to you, I get distracted. I've also heard other people say the same thing that its like the number thing these days when talking or getting to know someone. They have lots of new things out there to keep your mouth looking and feeling fresh please take advantage of them. Thank you for the tip about this whitening product!!

Baking soda is great at keeping your teeth white, especially at the dentist when they spray it on your teeth. I think they only do it if you have braces unless you ask them to.

I've used some products such as whitening strips before, and it seems to work at first, but eventually faded away. I haven't heard of Luster 1 hour White, but after reading this, it makes me want to try it! I usually just brush my teeth every morning & night, to keep em clean. But if I want pearly whites, I'm gonna have to use some products!

I am fortunate to work in a dental office. Which gives me the opportunity to have my teeth whitened. I use an at home method in which custom trays are made to use prescription strength bleaching gel. Its easy to use and works very well. Everyones teeth will discolor with age and along with what we eat and drink. Bleaching your teeth is an easy and affordable way to literally brighten your appearance.

So i have already tried luster... and this blog is wrong. You rinse out your mouth first.. then do the whitening gel, then the light. The light is on a timer for 2 minutes. what you do is repeat steps 1,2 and 3 for a whole hour. so you end up doing this about 20 times before the hour is up. Your mouth hurts from holding it open or even resting on the light just gets uncomfortable, not to mention the drooling. and the results are not that great. I personally like the Rembrant 2 hour whitening, i only used it for 20 minutes instead of an hour and my teeth were dramatically whiter!

I believe the idea is genius and cost efficient since most white strips do end up costing around $25-$30. Something that works for me is adding two drops of Hydrogen Peroxide to a dime size of baking soda and applying it to the front teeths. And I do this no more than twice a year. But once a month- I do use baking soda to brush my teeth with- it is something Hally Berry admits to doing and she has a perfect smile with perfect teeth.

I think that the price value depends on the person buying the product. As for myself, I wouldn't pay $39.99 for a whitening system right now. Probably if I had money to spare and the luminance of my teeth went up my list of priorities, then maybe I'd give this product a try. Regardless, thank you for spreading some awareness about this product -- it opens up more options in the teeth whitening market. :)

It definitely sounds too good to be true. I would be willing to try it since I have sensitive teeth and the bleaching trays I have used in the past have caused me excruciating pain to my sensitive teeth. Although, being a "starving college student" $40 is a bit pricey to be performing my own experiment. If the price was around $20 I would probably give it a go.

This may depend on how sensitive your teeth are. White strips did whiten my teeth, but they are sensitive and hurt all the time. It did not feel healthy to me so I stopped using them. My dentist gave me a prescription toothpaste with more flouride- the price is not much over a regular over the counter tube and is working great for me.

While white teeth might be important to some folks but I really don't look at the teeth if the persons attitude is good. I mean, teeth are a visual thing but if your personality stinks it is far worse than bad breath.

There are so many teeth whitening products, from toothpaste to mouthwash to the crest whitestrips. It used to be that to get whiter teeth, you;d have to spend $40 for the whitestrips but now just using certain lines of toothpaste and mouthwash can do the same job for less cash.

This product sounds great but a little too good to be true. Catherine Zeta Jones talked about this in an interview I tried it and it works. Mash some strawberries apply to your teeth for a minute. You can do it again if you need too, the acid in the berries is really strong and can soften the enamel of the teeth. Make sure to brush your teeth and rinse thoroughly. To protect the tooth wait a few days before doing this again. You should see results after the first time.

Pearly whites are very important, to me a smile means so much and pearly whites make it 10 times better. I keep my teeth white by brushing with baking soda after I brush with regualr whitening toothpaste. I do this every other day, rubbing an orange rhine (white side) works as well!

I read the article and checked the website and most people left positive comments about how well the Luster product worked. I too have tried Crest whitestrips in the past and had very little results. I will definitely go to Rite Aid and check it out! It looks similar to what I have seen in the dentist's office, so I'm hoping it works well. Having a clean looking and healthy smile is important to me. Most of us go to Starbucks now and then and get coffee drinks and/or tea that can stain our teeth. I brush at least 2-3 times a day, but definitely want to maintain whiter teeth.

Either way I HAVE been using this product for about a year now, it is much less expensive than having it done at the dentist and I am confident I get comparable results. I do this two or three times a year. Being in the oil industry and seeing clients on a daily basis it's important that I look my best and the smile is one of the first and most notable ways to greet someone. I will continue using this product unless they come out with something even more affordable that works just as good. FYI: I have sensitive teeth plus drink a cup of coffee almost daily.

I will try this when I runout of Crest White Strips. For those of you that have a problem with them, try the Advanced Seal, it stays put. You wear once a day for 30 min. I don't get sensitive with them. They work really good for me. PLEASE NOTE Bleaching WILL NOT WORK NO MATTER WHAT YOU USE if you drink lots of coffee, tea, soda, wine or smoke. You can't get the stain out if you keep putting it back in. If you bleach a white shirt it will stay dirty if you keep rubbing it in the dirt right! If you are not going to cut back on these habbits then save your money and don't pay for the product. It's not the product that doesn't work, it's what you are doing.

One trend I've noticed lately is dentists who provide regular clients (those who have insurance and visit twice a year for cleaning and exams) with whitening trays and gel. What a great deal for keeping up w/ your visits. And in the interim practices like adding baking soda to your paste, drinking coffee/tea/soda in limited portions and only from a straw, and using whitening rinses help prolong your BRIGHT WHITE between gel uses.

I use a mouthwash everyday and it keeps my teeth white, along w/a bit of baking soda, it does the trick. If I can get them 6 shades whiter, that'll be wounderful. I think I'd be glowing, hahahahaha.

I use Crest 3D and I find it to not work that well. I'd love to give this a try. Working in the restaurant industry you always gotta look your best!
