Jessica Simpson's Weight

Monday, January 26, 2009

Fluctuating weight is something we all deal with. I am a fan of Jessica Simpson, I think she seems like a genuinely sweet person (even though I have never met her personally). I saw these pictures of her from a performance she recently gave, and wondered about the weight issue. What do you think; do you think she looks better with a few pounds or skinnier like her Daisy Dukes days? Is it that we insist on celebs looking thin or do we want them to look more like us?  (side note-clothes should really be fitted to flatter your body type, not detract from it).

It's really hard to even have a discussion about weight when she's wearing those horrible high waisted jeans that are doing nothing for her figure, those hideous belts that make her waist look thick, and that really bad tank top that wouldn't look good on someone with NO chest, much less someone as well endowed as she is. I'm sure that Jessica Simpson is in no way "fat" or "overweight." People should love their bodies, no matter what size or shape they are and they should take care of themselves. But, seriously - who thought high waisted jeans were a good idea?

I think the few extra pounds look great on her. She's not at an unhealthy weight and i'm sure she's alot happier now (no diet). Now all she needs is a better stylist ;)

Personally, whether your a star or not one should be at a weight THEIR body is comfortable being at. Not what the media wants to see.

what good does it make if she has a great body but an ugly face? she has a beautiful face which should be all that matters...she looks good either way... skinny or have the weight of an average girl, SHE'S GEORGOUS! haha i like her, she seems cool and sweet.

I don't have a problem with her weight but those jeans are VERY unflattering!

Jessica looks a hot mess with the too little of clothes on, but her weight is fine. She will just need to wear clothes that accent her weight gain and not the clothes that hug it. Any size is fine as long you can still see your face first and then your clothes.

It is incredibly hard to judge her weight with that horrible outfit. I suspect she looks great at whatever weight the second picture is. That outfit would look awful no matter her weight.

I think it is nice to see a celebrity looking a little more like everyone else in America. I do think that she should wear cloths that flatter her new body, esp. since what she has on enphasizes her bulge. I think it is so much preasure for young people when they see a super skinny celebrity you wna t to be like them but her being a little bigger makes it ok not to be a skeliton. Stephanie

Her face looks MUCH more attractive with some extra weight and I think (although a bit heavy for hollywood) she looks a lot happier and healthier than she did in the tiny daisy days. But who is dressing her?! that outfit is Terrible. those pants are just.... just terrible :( but she def loooks much happier and genuinely in love with the extra curves :)

This is obviously Photoshopped. I think women should embrace whatever weight they are as long as they are healthy.

eh, she's happy. I gained quite a bit of weight when I got married, It happens. I think she looks normal now (except for her outfit in the pic), I agree that clothes should be fitted to flatter.

You know... I hate it when someone points out the obvious. Like when I have a honkin' zit on my nose and someone has to tell me about it. LIKE I WASN'T SURE it was there before!~ If the girl has put on some weight on and is OKAY with it ~ why do we care? If she is feeling crappy and self conscience ~ why do we add to it by making sure to tell her she's put on some weight. My mother would say that if you can't say anything nice... (you can fill in the rest.)

I wish people would stop hounding her... she is only a size 8 in those pictures!! I don't know about the rest of America, but I would love to see a size 8... I don't think I've been that size since elementary school! The only thing I think that is wrong with her is that her outfit was hideous. She could have made a better choice, and honestly I am not even defending her because I like her or her music, I just don't think it's right to judge someone by their weight...especially when they are still ridiculously smaller than 90% of us.

One, I think people should leave her alone about her weight. As for personal preference I think she would look better somewhere in between her Daisy Duke weight and her current weight. People take things to such extremes these days. There is such as thing as too skinny and I think Jessica was on the verge of being there in the Daisy picture.

I don't think that it is as big a deal as everyone thinks. Jessie is just enjoying her life (food) to the full. She'll get tired of being thick and go back down to thin, again, ala Anna Nicole Smith

The jeans and the belt (and the camera angle) were not good, but she looks great. My hubby couldn't figure out what the complaints were about...he loves curves (fortunately)

Jessica is a GORGEOUS woman...and she IS a WOMAN! Aren't women SUPPOSED to have curves? Jessica has also not gained THAT much weight, it was just that outfit that made her look so. High-rise pants may be flattering on some, but MOM JEANS ARE NEVER flattering! The belt she was wearing didn't help much either. It squeezed her middle and pushed weight down and up. She could've also picked a more supportive bra. Jessica is absolutely beautiful..whether she's 100 lbs. or 150. It's not a big deal. What she wears shouldn't be THAT big of a deal either...but girl, PLEASE fire your stylist!!!

She looks better thick. She was kind of sickly looking at times when she was super thin.

So what - she put on a few pounds. Everyone needs to quit dwelling on it. The outfit was horrible & they only accentuated the gain. All the negative media attention is going to make her go on one of the starvation diets & she'll end up all skin & bones and then she will truly look bad. Leave her alone - she's comfortable in her own skin.

I think people make a big deal over body weight. Especially with celebrities. But I don't think it matters as long as the person is healthy and happy with the way he/she looks.

I think real beauty permeates from the inside to the outside. If you are a beautiful person, you will radiate that. She looks gorgeous with a full figure. Remember back in the 40's-50's, rail thin was NOT in!! Voluptuous hips, a small natural waist and some "meaty" thighs were considered gorgeous. Even in Ancient Greece, women who were "plump" were also depicted as goddesses! We are not meant to be rail thin. I think society today is too hung up on weight. If you are healthy and happy, you should not be judged on your clothing size. I think she looks gorgeous w/ the weight. As a previous poster said though, those pants and belts aren't doing anything for her womanly figure. She needs some more flattering clothes.

Jessica looks great- I agree, the outfit should go, but I saw on "CNN's Showbiz Tonight" that she purposely wore this outfit to make a statement after the media started with comments about her weight, she's saying she feels comfortable and happy with herself. PLUS- she is in love, love makes you gain weight, don't know why, I guess you just veg-out more, eat out more, and don't have as much time to obsess over yourself anymore. Also, you have someone telling you that you're perfect, and just maybe you believe it:)

I think she looks a lot skinnier. Jessica looks like she just scarfed down a couple of Big Macs and it looks unhealthy. Most people don't want to be fat! And I don't mean to be harsh but some people just need mean people to motivate them.

GOOD FOR HER!!!!!! We need a little healthy weight in this bulimia infested, narcissistic, bones-with-flesh-stretched-over looks good facade of a society we sickly fantasize we are a part of. So many girls die of things like anorexia or become depressed or feel no self worth because their bodies can't stack up to the unreachable image portrayed by the so-called, self righteous "high fashion" industry. Beauty before health? PLEASE. Let's get real; I thought there was a war going on? And we're sitting here debating Jessica Simpson's weight? Are we really so diluted?
