Facial hair! We all have it, just some worse than others. Even Madonna (shown here) has some on her jaw line.  Facial hair is also very common to increase during menopause. No need to fret though, you can easily disguise the hair or remove it.
Here’s some tips:
-You can tweeze the hair, which can be a little painful, but will slow the re-growth                          
-You can use depilatory creams, gels and lotions to remove hair. These can be irritating to the skin, so follow directions closely
-Facial hair bleaching creams can lighten the hair for a less noticeable appearance
-Waxing is a fast and easy way of hair removal, use wax that is formulated for sensitive skin as some wax can cause allergic reactions
-Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal procedure that electrically shocks the hair follicles and destroys them
-Laser hair removal is used to destroy the hair follicles and must be performed by a licensed practitioner

If i had hair in "unwanted" places, depending on how much i would either pluck them or use hair cream removes. Plucking them is quick for a few hairs and cream is good for a lot.

Ever since the birth of my children, the white blond peach fuzz on my face especially my jaw line became very dense. I wax it every 8 weeks or so and it looks so much better. It also makes your make-up look better and smoother. I am very sensitive and broke out the first time, but hydrocortisone for 2 days does the trick. All other waxes since I have been perfect, no breakouts. If there is any question... do it. You will be happy in the long run.

i dont have much facial hair but I go to a salon to get my eyebrows & upperlip waxed about every other month. It's painful but it's quick and cheap ($20 including tip!) and I swear it's a great investment especially when you find someone who does it the way you want it!

I actually really like hair bleaching creams - they seem to be the best of all worlds - no noticeable hair and pain-free. However, a word of caution, you do have to be careful if you have recently tanned. It actually bleached my skin tone - which didn't look so natural. But overall - great product. One quick question: I've read that waxing quickens the aging process and can therefore cause wrinkles, is there any validity to this?

WOW. I didn't realize Madonna had facial hair like that! I am suprised she didn't get that taken care of a little better. As meticulous as she is about everything else, this is somewhat of a no-brainer, I would think... Being a natural blonde, that helps me in that area a lot-what facial hair I do have is so fine and light, you can't tell it's there. But thank goodness for wax!! :-)

I found that during both of my pregnancies the peach fuzz on my face became more noticeable. It must be due to all of those hormones! I found waxing to be the most conveinent and long lasting way to go. It went back to normal after both of my sons were born, but I hear it comes back after menopause.

Is it true that if you shave your face, it will grow back in darker, longer and faster? I have heard that you are supposed to apply your mositurizer in an upward motion and apply your foundation brushing down to help keep the hairs somewhat hidden and not sticking up.

I struggle with facial hair, usually just around my lips and a little bit of it around my eyebrows, on my forehead. I usually just shave my "mustache," but it does cause irriation and I think I will try to use facial hair bleaching creams. Thanks for the idea!

I would recommend electrolysis....it works great on small areas (but becomes painful as the sessions progress) I don't know if I could stand to have my entire legs done or a large area like that.

I say pluck or be your self and not worry about a few hairs on your face. I wouldnt wax or bleach any hair on my face, I wouldnt want to chance having a reaction to breaking out with waxing or with the checicals of the bleach.

There is also a new thing they have out now , it is like a file, has a flat surface and it will also rub the hair off..I tried it on my upper lip & it does work really well..It can also be applied to all parts of the face........

unfortunately i have thick dark hair on my upper lip and between my eyebrows... i have used depilatory creams in the past but the results never seem to last long... is there anything i can do that is more permanent but doesn't involve spending hundreds of dollars i don't have on electrolysis or laser hair removal

Has anyone tried threading? Works great for the eyebrows, giving a much better shape than waxing. Also better for other facial hair since waxing can cause breakouts on sensitive skin.

if you have fair or sensitive skin, be careful with tweezing - never tweeze right before work or an event, but always the night before, so you don't have to leave the house with irritated skin!

Have you ever heard of threading? Threading is done by using a thread and plucking the hairs off the skin. Threading is very similar to tweezing, but you get a lot more hair removed. Threading is becoming more and more popular in the United States because it prevents winkles from occuring. I didn't start shaping my eyebrows until last year. I used to just tweeze until I feel like it is enough, but I knew that my eyebrows were still really messy and did not have a defined shape. Then one day, my friend told me about threading and I tried it and loved it. I came back once every month. It literally took about 5 minutes or less. The only downside about this is that threading costs about $8-10. However, this year, my roommate learned how to thread, from looking online, and she help me thread my eyebrows at no cost. I love my eyebrows because they now look so clean and shaped.

I've always had peach fuzz, not very long on my face. I've found that after I apply my foundation, especially mineral or powder, that taking a big brush and just brushing my face top to bottom makes my peach fuzz disappear.

Great tips for facial hair- I am always trying to cover up the unwanted hairs on my face. I always am trying new ways and products to make them go away - some have worked and others have left irritation to my skin. So now i always test a small area that way I don't end up walking around with a rash or anything else on my face :)

I know this may sound kind of odd but I have been shaving the hair above my lip for about 15 years and it works perfectly for me. I do it every other day and you can never see any hair. It's cheap, it's easy and it works! I do get my eyebrows waxed though.

I think hair removal is a beauty must that people often overlook. It's easy to miss it when you're getting "pretty" every morning but boy does it show up in pictures! I like using Sally Hansen's microwave wax. It doesn't come with strips, the wax itself hardens. Definitely more convenient and less mess! Also, it's only about $6 per jar, and with that one jar, so many uses! I highly recommend it!

My boyfriend's mom is constantly tweezing the little hairs that are barely even visible. I just assume leave the hairs alone if they're not very obvious, wouldn't removing them (in any way) make them grow back darker, the way hair on your legs does? Although if I had to make them less sightly, I'd probably just bleach them or get them waxed, though waxing is something that should be done at least a day before a night out or a big even because it can leave you very red!

Unless its a full on beard, i advice ladies to just dont panic and dont be drastic. Honestly most people cant tell until you start pointing it out. I have very fine blonde hair at times on my face. I find the best thing to use is the tiny battery operated trimmer you can buy in Walmart for under $10. It's quick and easy. It's also great to thin out your eyebrows if you need to. It comes with an attachment specifically for that. Now the trimmer has a little light on it which makes it much easier to see the fuzz on the face !

Threading is amazing for the chin, it gets all the stubborn hairs and lasts longer then waxing. for the rest of the face bleaching creams works great, it looks natural and is not irritating

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but with waxing, you do compromise the elasticity of the skin (hello wrinkles!). I used to wax (I'm 26) and already seeing this around my upper lip. Eeek. I'm saving up for electrolysis, but until then, it's bleach.

I've found that threading is a great way to get rid of unwanted lip hair and it's not painful at all! It's a quick and easy (and cheap!) way to remove that upper lip fuzz and gives you the feeling of soft and smooth skin when done! Threading on eyebrows is great too and I've been doing both now for about 5 years! I think everyone should try threading at least once!

They drive me nuts, and nothing keeps them away long enough. Laser treatments cost anywhere form 500-900 dollars depending on the salon you go to and what kind of guarantees they offer. My despair is my hair on the chin. I wax the other stray hairs around the mouth, but the chin is the killer. It appears that the more I pluck the thicker and stronger those 3 little hairs grow. Laser treatment is too expensive, especially in these times so I guess I'll just have to stick to plucking and hope I catch them before someone else does!

There's the threading method; taking a piece of thread and using your middle finger from one hand and the first finger from the other twisting the thread and the hair together with back and forth movements eventually the hair will fall out. A friend of mine showed me how to do it. It was quite interesting.

Personally, I think bleaching is the best way to deal with facial hair. A little bit of bleach, and you can cover the hairs fully when you put on foundation. If your hair is light brown, however, using a foundation a few shades lighter than your skin willl neutralize the color, so you might not even need to bleach. Whatever you do, DON"T SHAVE!!!! You will grow back stubble and it will look AWFUL!!!

I use tweezing for the few that I have it seems to make them come in finer than shaving. I do plan on getting electrolysis because I hate having to pluck all the time.

I have facial hair. The tweezing is the best bet for me. Many people say it's painful... In the beginning it is but as you do it more often your skin becomes use to it and the pain lessens or goes away. Also I would suggest pulling in the direction the hair grows. That also lessens the pain. Hope this helps...

theres was one time when i was younger... i was looking in the mirror and happened to notice that i was growing a mustache. the mustache was only noticeable if you looked really closely. i took one of my moms disposable razors, wet my upper lip and shaved the mustache away. what a mistake! i didnt realize that it would grow back faster and thicker. now i know not to put a razor anywhere on my face. now i use sally hansens at-home wax (or whatever its called)on my lip about every two weeks. I HATE IT! its so annoying!

Be careful using hair removal creams, i always test a small area before putting it all on my upper lip. I once used a cream and it burned my skin and was very painful. I was so embarassed by it i stayed home from work for two days and never left the house! I stick to getting my upper lip waxed, its only painful for a few moments.....not several days!

There is a good cream on the market now. You must have a prescription for it. It is called Vaniqua. It doesn't stop the hair growth, but makes it thinner and less noticeable.

I would recommend not to wax if you use any products with Retinol. It makes the skin more sensitive and waxing can cause a layer of skin to come off. It's not very pretty. I had that happen with an eyebrow waxing.

I found that the cream hair removal works the best. I tried wax and it was a horrible mess. I wish I could get rid of the facial hair forever, but with high cost of electrology, I'll stick with the cream. PS I've tried different brand and Sally Hansen seems to be the best for me.

Hi there you forgot to mention one more option. Its called Epilady Chic Epilator. In my experience it is the best option. It does not stain the skin like wax does. Doesn't stink like the removal lotions. Its faster than plucking one hair at a time. It hurts in the beginning b/c of the plucking action but soon you get accustomed to it and then it is a breeze. My Dermatologist recommended to me that I shave off any unwanted hair on my face and that the old saying about it growing back darker and heavier is not true. I've been doing it for over a year and when the hair returns it's still blonde and fine. My make up goes on smoother and the shaving helps exfoliate dead skin off my face and makes my skin look so much better. I receive lots of compliments on my makeup.

I have been waxing my lip since I was about 13 years old when a mean little boy made fun of me at the pool. My mom said we could bleach, but I told her I wanted it gone, so we waxed it. I have extremely dark hair so it shows up well and creates a shadow. Its been nearly 14 years. I also do my brows too about every 3-4 weeks I make an appointment to get my brows, lip, arm pits and bikini line waxed at once. Takes about an hour and its done for several weeks. Its totally worth it!

I just pluck because its a few (5) underneath the chin but I have seen a few ladies that have that beard thing going on. I believe that it is a hormone imbalance so for the ladies that have more than a few I believe me personally I would do the laser treatment there is no way plucking or cream is going to help that.

I had laser hair removal done on my face, arms, and legs. It is WONDERFUL!!! Before I did laser, I had electrolysis on my eye brows and upper lip but it took FOREVER. . .and it's painful. . .but it's really the only way to get rid of hair in "sculptured" areas like your eye brows.

Epidermal planing is a nice alternative to waxing. Basically the face is shaved with a razor. It also helps remove the top layer of dead skin which allows your skin care products to work more effectively. I have this done rather than microderm abrasion every 6-8 weeks.

Threading is the best and it does not pull on the skin like waxing which can cause sagging as we get older. It is not a cream so it does not irritate the skin and cause allergic reactions. It also slows your hair growth and it the cost is the same or less than waxing. Most cases it lasts up to 2 months just depending on how fast your hair grows back. Try it!!!

OMG! The things our mothers never told us just keep cropping up the older I get. Facial hair was never a problem...until I went through menopause. It kind of took the mystery out of the bearded lady in the circus tent. I have been using tweezers. The hair growth is slowing down but it takes a lot of time and upkeep.

I thread my facial hair because it's better than waxing because it doesn't pull your skin, better than depilatory creams or bleaches because there's no risk of chemical reaction, and better than tweezing because it's not that slow or painful, although it is a little painful. You create a loop of thread, hold it around your hands with palms facing each other, then twist with one hand until you have a figure 8 shape of the thread. the middle part helps thread when you 'tweeze' from one side to the other.

I usually tweeze, but I also take Evening Primrose Oil Tablets at night. They are 100% natural, safe AND they decrease the appearance of facial hair. They also clear up the skin and help your hair stay beautiful. You can find them at any health food store or drugstore. They really work!

WAX WAX and more WAX. Professional - once every 6 weeks. cost between 25 and 50 bucks depending on were i go. could even cost more then that at high end salons. The older i get the worse it gets. I now have chin hair and my mustache hair is very fine, i can barely see it unless of course i am in my car and look in the mirror and then i am horrified. I also have nose hair that is done at the salon. My goodness menopause is a wonderful thing. I used to do it at home just cant keep up with it anymore. if i could afford laser i would do it in a heart beat.

I have done it all (almost)! And spent over $1000 on the laser treatment. So, far nothing permanent works, but the laser has made a difference. Tweezing just broke me out, and so did the depilatory cream and the bleach just looked unnatural. Waxing required it to get too long. Electrolysis (well I didn't try). Laser I did before I had my son, so I am not sure if my pregnancy increased the amount of hair afterward or not. But I will soon be back for my 7th treatment. Good luck!

I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom and my doctor has advised me that facial hair is part of my symptoms. Unfortunately, I started finding hairs on my chin. I am very self conscious about them so I check every day. One day - nothing. Next day - there they are! They just appear overnight, I swear. I actually carry tweezers with me now so I can pluck no matter where I am. I hate them!

I've had a bit of hair on my chin and upper neck because of a hormonal disbalance, and I'd always waxed or threaded it. Waxing has ALWAYS been my number one choice. Most of the time i end up doing it myself with the Sally Hansen wax. After i had my son, my hair got outta control! my husband thinks its cute too, he says im his billy goat. I don't find it too attractive, so i've continued to wax. I've also had laser done, I saw a difference, but I had to stop my treatments once i got pregnant so all the hair wasn't ever gone.

I do wax my upper lip because makeup application is so much smoother and cleaner without the hair there. I bleach the "sideburns" to the point that they simply blend in to my naturally tan skin. Whether the hair is there or not, I still walk around with my head up, it's JUST HAIR, not the end of the world.
