Trish McEvoy has been a household name in luxury cosmetics since the 70’s. Spotted in stores like Henri Bendel, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman; the prestige line is most noted for her fabulous makeup brushes that are designed to simplify and enhance makeup applications. I caught up with the strikingly beautiful and personable Trish McEvoy recently to chat about all things beauty and she had a few tips I just had to share!
 
-Use the back of your hand as your makeup palette to apply makeup. This way you know how much product you are using.
-Put your chin down and the mirror up to apply eye makeup for the best lighting.
-Grip your eyeliner brush like you grip a pencil to apply color for more control.
-Look at yourself subjectively, imitate nature, you don’t want makeup to look heavy.

These tips are great. Ladies, many of my guy friends have said that they find girls more attractive if they are wearing less makeup. Too much makes you look fake! Natural is the way to go! =]

if you where powder and foundation or if you new to makeup you should always get a second opinion before you buy the color your looking at because i cant tell you how many times i see tan face pale body syndrome! i the rest of your makeup can be exquisette* and be ruined by PFTB Syndrome! also mixing moisturizer with you foundation always looks more natural. Those are great tips and I use the mirror one at home. A trick I find with eyeliner is to plant my elbow on the surface of my table and then draw on my eyeliner with my brush. If I make a mistake, I grab a Q-tip and put a little make up remover on it and swipe it off. I hope that helps!

I've always done my eye makeup as suggested in the 2nd tip :) It gives me a full picture of how wide my lid area is and how much e/s i can put on it. Same is for eyeliner. It helps me avoid drawing an overly thick line on my monolid eyes! 4th tip is the best advice! Some people put makeup that's not suitable for their complexion. Instead of looking fab, they end up looking like a clown!

I think I might try that trick with eyeliner brush. It always freaks me out so much to try and use eyeliner because I'm afraid of sticking myself in the eye.

Thank you for the wonderful tips :o) I tried applying eyeliner with the mirror trick and it DEFINITELY helped. I have always used the back of my hand as a pallette and often time it helps the makeup go on easier b/c it warm it up a little!

I absolutely LUV Trish products!!! I never leave the house without her Line Refiner eye-cream, I actually think it should be called the Line "Eraser"!!! Also, the magnetic cubes for make-up is an amazingly portable way to travel....and I travel a lot! I also get loads of compliments when I wear Sexy 9...;-)

Fab facts!! I agree makeup should never look to heavy, i love intense eyes. I found that applying eyeliner pencil then going over it with a same color powder shadow keeps it from fading throuout the day. Not too much just a little you want to enhance your features not hide them...smooches

Its very helpful to know the best lighting for eye makeup...in my opinion thats the hardest kind of makeup to apply because you can't ever see it the same way other people will.

I do use my hand when applying foundation. I put on the back of my hand first then use a foundation brush so I don't use my fingers and risk changing the foundation's color, as others say it would. But I tend to look downwards when applying concealer. It is easier to spot the cirlse under my eyes that way. Not for eye makeup though, I look up so my eye lids aren't creased and I get better coverage that way, too!

I have to admit, while I use e.l.f. for 98% of my makeup needs, I still use Trish McEvoy mascara. Lasts all day, doesn't smudge. My favorite e.l.f. products to date are the kabuki brush and the studio line bronzer/blsh duo. Can't live without them!

Thanks for the advice. Especially about using the back on your hand as a palette to control the amounts you use. This is especially true with the mineral eyeshadows. Because they are so light and sometimes translucent, I end up using way too much!!

I was a Avon users until I came across the ELF website. With ELF prices I get to purchase 10 times more prodct because the prices are much lower. At first I was a little leary about it because the prices were so low but I have found that the colors are true and last much longer. Ladies, keep the concealer in your hand bag with the liner brush, the concealer works wonders when your eyeliner smudges. No need for water.

I think these tips are great, but as someone who ALWAYS uses sunscreen on my face, I actually think it's better to use the inside of your forearm arm as a palette. The skin there apparently sees the sun just about as often as my skin-block fortified face, so I get a better color match.

Very useful tips. One I've begun to use recently is to always apply foundation with a sponge (or blending wedge found on elf.com), whether I'm using liquid or mousse. It makes sure my makeup gets applied most evenly and I can blend it all over my face very well too.
