Emboss your body!

Friday, May 08, 2009

Looking for an artistic way to express yourself? How about while you sleep? Well, the Rise and Sigh sheets by Martina Carpelan do just that. The embossed sheets with phrases like “Such and Please” to “I’m not dirt” imprint the skin to reveal an indented message on your body when you wake up. Basically, you know how if you sleep funky and your sheets leave a print on your face, same concept. The collection comes in 3 concepts: bachelor, love affair and one night stand. I couldn’t find a place where to buy (hmm?) but if you can embroider you could just create your own. What do you think, cool or un-cool?

I think this is just plain stupid. I personally can't stand wrinkles in the sheets, much less, embroidered writing! Why not just take some cut-outs and designs and put UNDER your sheet to create you OWN impressions if you sleep that soundly. Never ceases to amaze me how people can come up with new ways to get you to blow your money!

Definitely not cool. I don't understand how sleeping on embroidered sheets would make a good sleeping experience. Who would be comfortable with little embroidered lumps and bumps pressing into their skin? And with the concepts embroidered, such as bachelor, love affair, and one night stand- who would want to have that imprinted on their skin? It's not something to brag about.

The only way this would be an ideal concept is if you play "find the hidden word on my body" with your significant other. Besides that, although it's a unique concept, I don't think it's one that I would pay for. I don't like sheet prints, so I doubt very seriously that I would want any words embossed on my person.

I think this is a very strange idea, and a waste of money, because you will pay extra money for sheets that will leave an imprint on you for about 5 minutes, then it will go away. I would have to say, it is unique.

Hmm, it sounds like an interesting idea, but I don't think it would work out too well. For example, what if you had the "one night stand" concept sheets and had an emergency? It would take awhile for the phrases to wear off and you would end up being embarrassed if anyone saw you. For me, I sleep oddly and end up with those sheet creases on my face sometimes. I know for a fact that they take awhile to wear off. So, I would have to say the embossed sheets are un-cool.

UNCOOL! I think if you sleep naked it might be a good idea, kind of fun but if you sleep fully clothed or even just in a night gown then you run the risk of having the phrases all over your clothes. If you run over the phrase more than once in your sleep you are gonna look a mess.

I think if the embroidery is large enough to leave an imprint on your skin it would probably be a little uncomfortable to sleep on. These might be cooler if you could special order them to say what you want. I toss and turn all night though, so I doubt if it would actually leave any sort of legible imprint.

The idea is quirky, not exactly cool, but I think it's pretty much uncool because I don't want to wake up with phrases pressed into my skin. It would be the same effect if I were to fall asleep on my knitted sweater because then I'd have the pattern on either my cheek or my body. It's not a pretty site. It's particularly bad if you were to wake up late one day and rush out of the house. I don't feel like flashing certain phrases like "I'm not dirt" to people, especially my co-workers.

Uncool - what if you move several times and the words over lapse each other? You'll look like you slept on a dictionary!

Not good if you have to hit the floor running and have an imprint on your face that hasn't smoothed out! Can you imagine trying to apply makeup and the makeup settling around the imprint! I think I'll save my money...

I don't know about everyone else, but I sleep with my shirt on, so I don't think it would really show up. Plus I roll around a lot. But it's a clever idea (:

The concept behind it is interesting, good self esteem expressions. But I think that there can be better things to be spending money on than sheets such as those. `

cool for certain times, but very uncool for work days. I dont want to show up at work with weird stuff on my skind.

That's an interesting concept, but kinda uncool. I mean what if you wake up with the imprint on your face. how are you going to get rid of it. nice try?

this looks a little silly! And I bet these sheets cost a fortune! A temporary tattoo is probably cheaper!
