We caught up with our fabulous friend Derek from Derek Loves Shopping to learn about Bottomless Closet, a nonprofit organization based in New York City. The mission of Bottomless Closet is to promote economic self–sufficiency by providing interview skills, business clothing, and ongoing career development and support programs to economically disadvantaged New York City women. Derek shares his fashion expertise to all the women who sign up for the fashion seminar, every six weeks, at The Bottomless Closet. Through this empowering workshop, Derek assists the organization in enlightening under-privileged women and showing them how to bring out their inner beauty. In hopes each woman walks away feeling better prepared to tackle the employment challenges ahead. e.l.f. cosmetics also partnered up with Derek for this event at the Bottomless Closet and donated cosmetics to help enhance each woman’s self esteem and self confidence for their career endeavors.

We have something very similar to that here in Toronto, Canada. Its an agency called JVC which provides women going back into the work force from being out for some time, the skills needed, ongoing career development, and bringing out confidence and their inner beauty to prepare them for today's working world. I think its a fantastic idea for us ladies. Looking good and feeling empowered as a woman is vital to the everyday challenges we face. We need to support each other, lift each other's spirits, tell each other we're beautiful beings and that we're IMPORTANT to society. Amen!

I know of a few other organizations that have this concept and I think it's wonderful. You can't imagine the power of makeup and clothing to boost the self-esteem of someone that can't afford it.

this is a good program. saw this on tv, mainly men, and it turned their self-worth around. wish i could get into the fashion seminar. my fashion sense, not so good.
