Eyebrow Threading

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Ok, so I am seeing Eyebrow threading salons pop up all over New York City and am quite curious on the service. I have yet to experience the threading personally as I rarely even wax (ouch, I have sensitive skin). I’ve heard it is a bit painful, but the results are great. So, I was wondering have you threaded or would you?
And for every valid web comment on this blog only we will give you a Free $5 e.l.f. coupon via email just to say thanks (1 per person, to the first 100 posts only).

Threading is a bit painful, but I'd rank it between plucking and waxing. Plus, like plucking and waxing, you'll get used to the pain. I like it better than waxing b/c it gives a more natural look.

I've never waxed before and the first time I actually touched my eyebrows was when I had them threaded five years ago. I found that it did hurt, but then again, I never even plucked before then. It still hurts a little, but it depends on the person doing the threading. At the little shop I go to, one person does it so gently, I almost fall asleep in the chair. The other, not so much. It also depends on how sensitive you are in that area. After speaking with friends who have done both, they prefer threading as it is cheaper, faster, and more natural looking, as it follows the contours of your face. If it is your first time going, please tell them how thick or thin you'd like your brows. If it's a new place, I ask for it 'sort of thick' and then have them thin it out if necessary. This stops them from making it too thin.

My threading experience was pretty interesting. It was quite painful, but I was able to bear it. It kind of stung the first time, but after a few minutes, it went away. I've never waxed before, so I can't compare the two. I'd say it's somewhere near plucking though.

I've actually done my own bit of research on it. Went to youtube and various sites and decided to learn to thread on my own. It does sting but it's usually only as bad as plucking your brows. Can be a bit frustrating, but I actully felt that it did the job and I looked great when I was finally done. It would probably be much faster and slightly less painful at a salon. But I think it leaves me looking better than when I pluck. I just need to practice more.

YES! I would totally try eyebrow threading because not only is it supposed to take less time, but i don't have to deal with the chemicals and waxes that irritate my skin. Also, it's supposedly 'cheaper' because there are no chemical costs. All in all, i would say this sounds like a GREAT alternative!

I've actually done threading on myself, and I had great results. Once you know how to do it it's so easy and faster than tweezing. Just make sure your skin is taut so it doesn't get pulled as well.

I've never done it, but I am about to try because of the great results my friends had. Waxing just simply irritates my skin too much, and it is more expensive than threading. One of my friend told me that it didn't hurt her at all so it just depends on the person.

I saw some videos on youtube on how to do this yourself. It doesn't look to hard and seems quicker (and therefore less painless) then plucking.

I would like to try this new experience but I do not know if there are any salons in my neigbourhood that would perform the task. I usually tweeze but this sounds like I should give it a whirl!

I've had both threading and waxing done and I feel that the pain level is dependent on the experience and skill of the threader/waxer. However, when comparing two of equivalent skill, threading hurts less. Threading leaves your eyebrows with a more natural appearance. Warning: it is key that you are threaded by someone who knows what they are doing!

I have never tried eyebrow threading. Nor have I ever had a professional wax/tweeze. I allowed my sister to remove my eyebrow hair once. Nair burns are never fun. Down the road I might try it,optimism is key in beauty/makeup!

I have only done the wazing and the tweezing. I hate both of them. I am really curious to try threading. I know though that it does look more natural.

I have not threaded, and don't know if I would. If you keep your brows trimmed/plucked/etc regularly, it doesn't seem that necessary. Besides, I don't like pain and a pluck here & there is about all I can handle.

I've tried everything else and in my opinion, this is the best way. It does hurt a little bit, but you get used to it and the pain doesn't last long anyway. It's quick, cheap, and it lasts longer than everything else that I've tried. I'd say it's well worth giving it a shot.

Well to me waxing isn't that bad. It hurts at first, but its worth it in the end because you don't have to deal with out of place hairs. I personally haven't tried threading, but know a lot of people who do. I'd like to try it one day and see the results. But for now I will just stick to waxing. :)

I have had my eyebrows threaded before, and let me tell you it was painful. But, if I added up all the pain from waxing that eguals the amount of time this lasts, all the waxing would hurt way more. This lasted so much longer than waxing and after the first time the pain is less noticeable

Hey! I get my eyebrows threaded regularly at Ziba. They are AMAZING! I won't go to anyone else, unfortunately they're only in California. The first time I went my mom told me it would hurt soo much...but it didn't! For me, it hurts more to pluck them :/. Hope i helped!

i would deffinaetly try threading! it a great substiute for plucking. even though its the same technigue. but i find threading to be much more faster and efficient than plucking hairs one by one. with threading you can even remove the tiny hairs that u cant pluck. :D

That looks kinda creepy. I'm not one for pain, so I don't think I'll be trying that. I've actually never even seen or heard of that until now. I just stick with plucking. If doesn't hurt, and it doesn't take very long if you maintain a pretty regular schedule (i.e. don't wait until the it all grows back fully before you reshape).

I have friends from Malaysia, and it's all the rage over there too. They talked me into doing it one night, and while I can't say I'd ever do it by myself, it didn't hurt anywhere as bad as waxing, but it did hurt more than plucking. I really loved the results though; I didn't have to do anything with my brows again for nearly twice as long as usual.

Threading, A Indian hair removal method that is actually centuries old. The threader Sangita (Indian Girl)rigs a stand of cotton thread through her fingers and teeth, creating a triangle with some wound thread on one side, for torsion. Using just the right amount of pressure and proper rhythm, then runs the string along the surface of the skin. The wound –up end acts as a spring, causing the triangle of thread to open and close, catching onto hairs and pulling them out from the root. It is a simple concept, but threading requires training to get it right.

The first time I threaded my brows 6 years ago, the pain was not as bad as hearing the hair being ripped out my face. It brought involuntary tears to my eyes, but it was well worth it. I am blessed with naturally full, arched eyebrows, but threading enhanced them. I highly recommend threading over any other form of eyebrow shaping. The look is extremely clean, it lasts longer than tweezing, waxing, and shaving, not to mention it's cheaper. I only paid $7 for mine. Don't wait another minute, get it done you will not regret it!

As silly as it may sound, one of the first things I notice on someone when I look at them is their eyebrows. And when I see a great pair of eyebrows I always compliment on them. Most of the time when I ask who does their eyebrows, they tell me that they have their eyebrows threaded. I didn't understand the practice at first and when people would try to explain it, I would get so confused. But one day I was just SO CURIOUS because I really wanted my eyebrows to look as good as the other girls, and I googled threading. I've ALWAYS wanted to get it done but I have sinced moved and I cannot find anyone local who practices it. It may be a little painful, because it pulls hairs out, but I can imagine it's less painful than waxing because unlike waxing, threading does not take skin with it. So it would compare more to plucking, which, isn't all that bad if you're used to it!

I've never threaded my eyebrows before. I was watching this T.V show (toddlers and tiaras) and this little 5 year old girl was forced by her mom to thread her eyebrows. She was crying and I thought it looked quite painful. And i have the pain tolerance of about a 5 year old So I would prob. be in as much pain as her. I would like to try to thread them, but I don't think I will..
