Love Tattoos?

Thursday, January 07, 2010

Ok so the thought may have crossed my mind to get a love tattoo, but could I really go through with it? I mean besides the fact that I am deathly scared of needles that thing is permanent! Khloe Kardashian and recent husband Lamar Odom recently just got one another’s initials tattooed on their hand. What do you think, is it tacky or terrific?

I would never get a tattoo. I may look nice at first, but as your skin ages the look changes. I would not want to draw attention to all my wrinkles.

It's not very smart to put a permanent initial or name on your body. If they get divorced, they are stuck with that forever! Besides, I'm too much of a coward for that. LOL Some are pretty, but I'd rather have it drawn on a wall or piece of paper. That way if I get tired of it, I'll just discard it.

Tacky... especially considering the track record for celebrity marriages.

I thinks thats pretty cool. Im kind of a tattoo lover (I wanna be a tattoo artist) and me and my fiance are probably going to do something like that. Its not tacky-- its really cool to me. Great form of art and a bold way to express the things that means something to you.

TACKY. tattoos are not cool, especially when you get someone else's name tattooed on you. BUT, to each his own. :)

If they are truly in love, I think it is romantic. Tattoos are more permanent than marriage, so it is a sign of commitment.

I think its a very creative way to express your commitment and love to someone. I don't think Kloe and Lamar's tatoo's are tacky. There small, simple and have a lot of meaning to them. Hey and if it turns out the their marriage doesn't work out...they can always get something over it to cover it up :D

I totally understand what you mean! I just got my very first tattoo a week ago & I love it. I was deathly afraid but it went fine. I hate needles & pain so of course that was the main thing I was worried about, I would practically shake in fear thinking of it but when it happened, when the needle touched my skin I was that it?! As long as your tattoo is meaningful & not some random spur of the moment idea it will not be tacky at all.

I think it's awesome! It sounds a bit strange, but even if they break up, the tattoo becomes part of their story. My wedding ring is a tattoo, and I am now divorced, and although have no intention of ever getting back together with my ex, I love my tattoo and would never have it removed. It is a part of who I am, and helps to tell MY story.

its on my bucket list to get a tattoo. but i think that getting a "love" tattoo is stupid. yes, its important to make sure the tattoo is meaningful, but when it comes to love, anything is possible. there are many other better ways to prove your love to that special someone that doesn't involve literally scarring yourself for life.

The Perfect mini PDOA! It's kind of like linking pinkies with your sweetie when strolling together...It is a fantastic way to express the love without being over-powering or having huge pictures tattoos done.

Unless it had something to do with my son, I would never get a tattoo about another person. Romantic relationships change and I wouldn't want a constant reminder of someone I wasn't in love with anymore.

I think the "love tattoos" especially are a no no! People seem to think that it represents love when in actuality it represents dumb. Just think about it, if you really care about someone then that feeling is in your heart. There is no need for a permanent skin tattoo to prove what and how you feel. I think its VERY tacky!

I have a tatoo, but I wish I never got one until I put alot of thought into. You should really take it into consideration before marking your body forever.

I love tattoos, but unless it's your child, or maybe some sort of remembrance tattoo, never get a person's name inked onto your body. Tattoos are permanent (mostly) but love...not always.

I'm a bit in between, even though I have once said "I'll never get a man's name on me unless he is my husband." But nowadays, people take marriage as if it isn't scared and some sort of joke. Which is why I'm in between, but whatever works for them. But I know if I do get married I may just get an initial, just like them... just in case.

It's a DON'T!!! You never know how long you're going to stay with that person. What if you brake up with that person, and move on and get to a different relationship. What would your new man/woman think? Exactly!

I dont think that it is tacky, however I dont think that it is smart either. If it is a bad breakup later, do you really want to get a coverup or do you really want to be reminded of that mistake in your life. Somethings we do when we are young and in love, we eventually regret and wish someone would have said something to us, or wish we would have listened.

I think the tattoo itself is cute, however, I think the location is a little unattractive. They should have put them in a more hidden place.

I'm not a person to settle so if I were to get anyone's name tattooed on my body, I would be at least 110% sure that this person is the one I'd like to spend the rest of my life with. So then, why not? Of course there's also my fear of needles, but there's no need to get into that. ;)

Somehow the thought of needles scare me, and the fact that its gonna stay for good, not sure if I would want that unless I am 100% sure.

A love tattoo in your twenties can be an embarrassment thirty or forty years later, when that relationship is a distant memory. So think before you ink. How is this going to look when I'm much older, with children and grandchildren?

Tacky! No doubt whatsoever. These are not temporary, Fruit-Stripe-Gum-Wrapper tattoos - these are permanently embedded inks. I don't have a problem with temporary tattoos as decoration. However, I very much dislike real ones. I love earrings, but I don't want some tattooed on my ears - I want to change them as the mood or outfit strikes. You can't change a tat! When it comes to celebrities, it really doesn't matter much. (If KK divorces, she'll have to marry another guy whose name begins with "L"! Ha!) They can also afford the laser treatments to get them removed, so it isn't impressive that they got them in the first place. When I think of tats, all I can see are saggy, baggy "Hot Mama" tats on a wrinkled behind in the nursing home some day! LOL! Remember, your skin is lifelong, but your moods and tastes will change. There are plenty of other ways to have fun with your looks, and a wedding ring is the commitment statement - not tattooed initials. Skin can be a beautiful thing - why ruin it?

I am a big fan of tattoos....i have 9 myself, with plans for several more. I do have tatts that have past boyfriends/lovers/fiance's initials or names within them...have i had them lasered off or altered? no...i dont believe in it...the way i look at it, i can look back on these tatts, the beautiful artwork, and realize what i did or did not do wrong in the relationship, what i was doing at that point in my life...and make the necessary changes as to not do the same mistakes again...tatts are milestones...and steppingstones.

My husband and I have each others initials tattooed on us. We did it way before we were married and everyone thought it was crazy. Whatever, everyone is different and I totally understand the other side of it, never wanting something that permanent, we just felt differently. I love having it, and I'm proud to have made that commitment to eachother. I don't think the act in itself is tacky, but it's definately a huge decision and taking it lightly is what is tacky.

My advice is DO NOT GET A LOVE TATOO! I have seen too many people that have had to cover them up or get them removed. We all like to believe that their love will last forever, but it is a reality that this is not always the case. Do get a tatoo that represents you. And, by the way, don't let a fear of needles keep you from getting a tatoo. If it is done right, it does not go deep into your skin. I will hurt more, though, the closer to bone your skin is.

I have 2 'love' tattoos.....the first is my daughter's initials on my ankle - also the first tat that I ever got. The second one is the chorus of my favorite song up my calf - to show my love for music & a band that has a phenomenal songwriter. Personally (even though I have been married for a little over 11 years) I wouldn't do my husband's name or initials, but to each their own - it's what makes tattoos important; what they represent, what they mean, what they look like... I don't think its tacky or terrific. It's tacky if you don't like tattoos and are not accustomed to. Its absolutely great for people who love tattoos or ones that don't have a problem getting one. I myself would most probably not get one or at least not somewhere that the whole world can see, I would rather have my love tattoo be seen only by my love. Coming from a pretty strict Armenian family, and for those who are not acquainted with any Armenian girls, especially ones who still live with their parents a tattoo would only ask for a never ending war. (Our parents can be prettyyy strict even a second hold piercing on your ear can be a problem let alone a tattoo)

Great idea but if I were going to get a love tat I would go for a less obvious place. I would rather have the option to show off or not (especially if the love turned out to be more temporary insanity than a lasting romance :) ALSO I cant imagine how my grandkids would feel about my "Love tattoo" when Im 80 and not quite as cool as I am now LOL

Most people think to tattoo a name on there body is bad luck but I say nope luck is what you make it no bad luck for us married for 6 years and counting lol s o I say if its the one then go for it....A regular tattoo takes alot of time and thinking before u jump after all its there forever so think long and hard and pick something that means something and go for it...I like the way a tattoo feels when it is being done but everyone says I am just a freak lol...U cant take it!!!!!
