Thursday, December 24, 2009 There are several things that I love about Christmas Eve. Most of all, I enjoy the fact that our schedule is free. There is no school for my oldest son Michael and (teacher) husband. I get to sleep in …yes. Also, since there is no school the next day, the kids can stay up as late as they like. We will probably watch a movie together and I’ll watch my husband play videogames (“Up” and “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” are current game favorites) with Michael. To expand the kids’ worldview, I plan on sharing with them what various people across the world do in order to celebrate Christmas. One site that has great information about this topic is How Stuff Works: Although they will stay up late, I’m sure that my kids will wake up super early on Christmas day. (I know that I did when I was little!) They will open their presents from Santa Mommy and Santa Daddy. (Gator Golf and Transformers Optimus Prime were tops on their list this year along with Hungry Hungry Hippo.) Little do they know that their great aunts are getting them a Lionel train set also. Suffice it to say…they are going to be two happy campers. My husband and I don’t exchange gifts on Christmas. Neither one of us is really into “things” in and of themselves. We mainly have fun seeing the kids’ excitement. How will you be spending the next couple of days? Whatever you do with your family, I wish you peace, joy and safety. Happy Holidays!
