Hair Extensions

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Ok, so you have probably seen Kate Gosselin’s new longer hairdo by now. Apparently she got 20 hours worth of hair extensions put in her hair by stylist Ted Gibson, which he reported would have cost around $7,000. Wow, talk about a pricy hairstyle!! I have yet to have the privilege of long extensions, yes I’m au naturale ladies, but I can say I have “longed” for that Victoria Secret hairstyle but have been a little apprehensive, can you brush your hair without tangling the extensions, does it look natural up close and personal, and how long does it last?? So what do you think are Kate Gosselin’s extensions a do or don’t?

I honestly don't think Kate Gosselin looks good with long hair. She suits the shorter haircut. $7000-can stay in bank, thank you.

I think she looks much younger with extensions. I was never a fan of the soccer mom pixi cut.

Aside from the expense I think its a nice change. Her old do was not doing her any justice. Extensions are a great way to change your look and if done right can look very natural.

I think she looks good. I think she rocked the short haircut as well.

I am not a fan of hers but I think that she looks better with short hair. I haven't had extensions. My sister has though and they look pretty sexy.

I too would love to have crazy long hair...but I think the problem with hair extensions is that they are, well, fake! I think we should all stick with just enhancing our natural beauty. Plus, I think I have heard that hair extensions damage your real hair.

i think it's cute! i'm not a huge fan of the individual extensions unless you have naturally straight hair or you pay a lot of $$$$ to find extensions that match your hair type perfectly. i'm pretty sure she didn't spend any money at all because now she's a "celebrity" ...goodness gracious! (can you tell i'm not a big fan of hers?)

I dont really think she looks that bad with the extensions, and Im not even that much of a fan of hers, I think her short hair was just weird and not very good. I think the hair looks good on her, though I think she should just grown it out herself and not use extenstions.

I think she must want a fresh start and a new look for the new year, but I still prefer the shorter hair on Kate. If she doesn't get a new job soon, I don't know how she could keep this look up! I wish her and her children all the best!

Im not a fan of Kate's but i would have to say the extensions make her look younger though i think she is stupid for paying 7000 that could have gone to getting the kids things!

I noticed the new 'do and all I can say is FINALLY!! She looks so much younger! Oh, and as far as extension, they definitely vary in quality. I imagine the $7000 variety is they type you can swim, ski, and skydive in, lol...but I doubt there's any problem with brushing or looking natural if they're well done, even at a significantly more modest price.

I think kate looked better with her old hairdo. This new look just doesn't work for her.

I think she doesn't look herself. I think it's cool that shes giving herself a makeover, but maybe more subtle changes would be better suited for for

I think she looked younger with the short hair! That $$ could have been spent on her kids! What was she thinking???

I like the longer hair. I never really did care for her shorter 'do. BUT--- I think that's a little crazy to pay that much for a hairdo... I wonder how much she pays for her kids hair cuts.

I think Kate looks really pretty with the new extensions. However...at $7000 a pop...a 'little' much! I would recommend getting clip-in extensions. They are inexpensive, easy to use, and a great way to quickly change your look.

I like Kate with long hair. Maybe people will stop making fun of her now. I think extensions look good if the hair color is matched! Good luck!

BIG BAD HAIR DON'T! Extensions looks so unreal on her! Not that the before hairdo was a major hit either, but I really think she should stick with her natural hair. If she grew that out and had long hair that way...fine. But the extensions are a bit too much for her. My Opinion.

Wow! What a difference inches make! What a beautiful pic! Kate's extensions are definitely a "do". My question - what happens when you wash it? I'm worried about having to comb my hair out! It would "so" be worth it though! :-)

I'm iffy. In one pic I like it but then next it looks a little too "separated" like you can see chunks of hair it doesn't look blended.

sstweety@yahoo.com I wish that I could get extensions like her. But honestly who has $7,000 laying around just for hair? I think that they look a little different on her just cause it is something new. But good for her for taking time for herself. After all how many of us could handle that many kids!!!!

I think her extensions look great-but I love natural hair much better. Im not sure how long they last or if they get tangled but if you've got nice hair-dont mess with it!

First off 7000.00?! So sorry but this is same woman who was on national television crying about not having the means to pay bills, etc. Secondly these extensions look terrible. The colors are mismatched, they look dry and very unkempt.I believe we all should pamper ourselves when we can,but this is to the extreme. A softer, more age appropriate look may have been better and much less costly.

The thing is, anything is better than the old haircut. I'm sorry-- that was so dated. The girl who sat beside me in US History (in 1998!) had that hair, and it was ugly then. So, yes, I feel the extensions were an improvement. Anything would be! Many of my friends have had extensions, and there are three important things to pay attention to: finding an experienced stylist, paying a LOT of money for good hair, and a product called Biosilk that keeps said hair from looking matted after a few weeks. My hair is all mine (and long, red, and lovely, thanks!), but I tried a friend's Biosilk and it's fabulous on real hair as well. I deinfitely recommend it!

okay well first of all it really depends on your face shape if you could pull it off or what not! but hair extensions are great! especially the clip on ones cuz you could go to any length at anytime and it looks totally great!!! just make sure you get you're right shade of hair color! and if you don't like how the extensions look on you, you could always just take them off. and you could do whatever you please to the extensions fyi
