Justin Bieber tattoo shocker!

Friday, May 07, 2010

It seems all teens and tweens heart Justin Bieber!  But what do you think of a 16 year having a tattoo?  Justin Bieber was spotted with a bird tattoo on his lower stomach in Sydney last Saturday.  Apparently, the bird is a family symbol that most of the family sports.  What do you think?  Is a 16 year old too young for a tattoo?

Personally, I DO think 16 is a little young for a tattoo, but it's his body and apparently a family tradition. I'm sure one of his parents had to sign for him to get it, so ultimately it's their call anyway. If Justin having a tattoo at 16 is the only scandalous thing he does, then more power to him. Lord knows there's enough "bad influence" on teens/tweens as is.

It is young but I don't think its wrong if its a family symbol and he has permission for it. It would be wrong if he would have gotten it behind his parents back.

i think it depends on the person whether or not it's too young. it's definitely subjective.

I think that tattoos are always a personal choice and intent plays a large role in whether or not it is appropriate. I don't particularly like Justin Beiber, but I feel like if his parents were ok with it, then it is fine for him to have the tattoo. Also, it almost seems a family tradition so in this case I think it's fine. But under 18 should REQUIRE parental consent.

I dont think 16 is a little young, but if its a family symbol he would have gotten when he was older anyways. The parents are obviously ok with it. So ultimately its here decision.

My son is 17 and I won't let him get a tattoo. I think your still to young to make a permanent decision like that.

If his family's okay with it, I'm okay with it. It's not huge and hideous, and it obviously holds some meaning for him. I think it is just fine and dandy.

16 is just too young, regardless if it's a family tradition. Tattoos are sometimes taken too lightly. But I suppose it's better than a stupid fad tattoo.

16 is young however depends on the teen and the tattoo. Family symbol I'm not offended by at all. Took mine to a parlor at 16 in Hawaii to get I' one that she'd wanted, with our consent as she wasn't getting something hoaky but rather something to symbolize faith. I'm not opposed as long as it's not something assinine.

My opinion that is way to young to have a tattoo. Just because he is famous, does the rules not apply to him or did he have a parent with him when he got it. And even though it is a family symbol, I feel he still should have waited until he was old enough.

I think it's ok. Seeing as how that is is family thing and the fact that it's really little.

Can't say I'm stunned, children younger than 16 are getting tattoos and peircing and kids. Even if it's a family symbol I think he could have waited a while to get it. Kids are in a rush now a days to grow up. I know I'd throw a fit if my 15 yr old sister came home with a tattoo. Not cool.

If it's a family thing, I guess that's that. I used to want a tattoo really badly, but for the most part I've changed my mind and I'm glad I didn't sneak and get one done behind my parents' backs. But at 16, I do think that's a little young... waiting until you're at least 18 or thereabouts isn't -that- bad :D At least his appears to be tiny and not super gaudy. And if his family wanted him to have one, then I guess it's not so bad.

I remember when tattoos was the "rebellious" thing to do. I've seen 14 year olds get "inked" because its the "thing to do" these days, so for someone who is 16 getting a tattoo seems like nothing new to me. I do believe though, that some tattoos are beautiful works of art whereas some should have stayed on paper.

I think that this decision will be something Justin Bieber will really regret in a few years time... I think 16 is too young to get a tattoo because you are still a teen and sometimes we all make mistakes when were young but this is a permanent marking on your body that you have to live with forever.

It isn't shocking I suppose, but 16 is way too young to get a tattoo. It's too bad that the parents are supporting/encouraging this to be done. I don't have a tattoo and my kids don't want tattoos. I guess we would rather have a tradition of a family game night instead of a tradition of injecting ink into our skin with needles. Eww.

I do think that in general, 16 is a little too young for a tattoo because teenagers are still in the process of finding themselves, experimenting with different looks, ideas, ect. So I think getting a tattoo that young when teens are still going through phases that they very well may outgrow quickly is in general a bad idea. However, since it is a family tradition, I think it's safe to say that it isn't something that Justin is likely to outgrow. It seems less of a teenage trend bur rather a monument to his family and heritage, so I don't see any problem with it. Besides, it's such a tiny tattoo, that I don't think it really matters that much.

i think that 16 is too young for a tattoo, but since most of his family has this tattoo it isn't that bad. Since it is a family symbol, most people would get the tattoo, considering that most of the family has the tattoo too. And it is small and you can barely see it....

Like many of the other posters, i feel that 16 is a little young for a tattoo, however like almost everyone else, i think that because it is a family symbol, it has a deeper meaning to him and perhaps helps to solidify his bond between him and his family. Also, it is difficult to judge someone else, for something to trivial in life until we have lived in thier shoes.

i do think that a sixteen year old is too young for a tattoo. but bieber's is so tiny that i hardly think it matters. besides it has sentimental value for him and his family. if he were two years older this wouldn't even be a discussion.

I do not think is anything too serious. I mean if it a family thing I could understand why he got it. At least it is not something huge on his back like a Yakuza would wear right?

I personally think that it's too young for him to be having a tattoo. His personality and maturity hasn't reached its potential. But if his family is okay with it and it's a tradition, I guess it's alright. It could be another form of tradition and we all have to respect that.

Sixteen is kind of young for a tattoo. But if its like a type of tradition and his family approves of it, then its not so bad.

It's just a tattoo - a very small one, at that. I don't have any tattoos, but I really see no problem with him having it. It doesn't make him any less talented... although that's another discussion in itself. I really have no idea what he's famous for.

I think its definitely too young. Once he's older he may regret it. Then again, he may not, who knows. Personally I don't think the parents should have allowed it until he was of age to get it done himself.

It's a small tat and according to the article it's a family tradition or what have you. I think it's okay...it's not gaudy and it's not in an obvious spot. Perhaps this is a way for him to stay grounded and connected to his family while he's on this fame train.

I think 16 is a little young for a tattoo, but it is up to the individual's choice. No one can decide but him. If it was a huge arm tattoo, I would be more against it than a little subtle bird.

16 is generally too young for a tattoo. But I have to say, Bieber's tattoo looks like it's very tiny. Definitely a plus. And the fact that it's a family symbol helps too. In all, itís very tasteful, and not too dramatic or too large for the minor. Of course, I don't know his mother, but I would bet money she had some say-so in the size. This is quite different than the much larger tattoo Miley Cyrus got directly under her breast a while back. In dedication to a friend or not, a female teenager having a tattoo that close to her boob is just unacceptable. Not to mention that it just doesn't look very classy or tasteful when she prances around in her bikinis to show it off. All it serves as is a target for men to gawk at! I think Bebier has definitely out-classed Ms. Cyrus in this case! If a parent is going to allow their minor to get a tattoo, this is how to do it. You go Bieber!

If Justin spoke to his parents before getting the tattoo and they are ok with it, then it's ok for him to have it.

16 is too young for a tattoo. I told my boys that they have to be old enough not to need my concent and have a job to pay for it when they decide they want to do things like that. I don't see anything wrong with tattoos in general, but if my kids are going to do it I want it to be somthing they pay for so that they see it as worth doing, or not.

I think that Justin Bieber is doing something that is recognizable for him and his family of the bird tattoo. Of course, I think it's okay if his family knows that he got the tattoo.

I believe that 16 is too young to get a tattoo, but living the life he is, I guess it's a miracle that's the worst thing he's done.
