Find me SPOT

Monday, June 07, 2010

I recently discovered this great little device called the SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger. This handheld little tool provides communication with friends and family when you want in and emergency assistance when you need it! It uses 100% satellite technology so it works virtually anywhere in the world (even when cell phones don’t). So now you don’t need to worry if you are out on a boat and afraid of getting stranded or lost at sea if you have SPOT. This device can send out an S.O.S. to notify emergency services, can contact family for assistance, can send pre-programmed messages along with GPS location as a Check-in for family and friends, it can send custom messages along with GPS location, and you can track your progress in real time using Google Maps so you and others can see. At only $169.99 SPOT can give you the peace of mind this summer for your adventures on land or sea!!

I think that's a fantastic device! What would be better than knowing you are always intouch? Knowing that you dad, who went camping last week, is safe too! I think, especially for summer when people do way more out door activities, this is a must have for the hiker-camper-rafter type!

This item is so cool and would be awesome to have when my family goes camping... it reminds me of the gps that the little boy in the movie UP had! And the size of it would be so great because it would be portable and could fit anywhere... i really want to get one of them!

I appreciate that these kind of devices can sometimes be used as a safety aid. However, I also appreciate that these types of devices can also backfire and bite users in the rear. They ensure the loss of our privacy and can be downright dangerous for victims of domestic violence whose whereabouts can be tracked at all times and has made it easier for them to be stalked. These devices have already been used successfully by criminals to commit great acts of violence, including murder, against their victims. Count the cost before use.

My brother is an avid Hunter and his wife purchased such a device so that she can check in anytime and not have to worry about his wereabouts and safety in the backcountry. And if he ever runs into trouble he can send out for Help. This is a must for any avid outdoor adveturist by far : ) Great Post Achelle!!! Also this is useful for bf and husbands trying to find there loved ones in the MALL ha ha ha !!!

This is a really cool device for outdoorsy people! It is a little expensive, and since I only go camping about once a year for a couple of days, it's not really for someone like me; however, for avid hunters and campers, this is a really neat device!

If i was an outdoorsy/adventure kind of person i would totally buy this. $170 is a small price to pay for your safety and peace of mind especially knowing that it is going to work ANYWHERE you go.

I feel like this device is affordable. I like the ease of of use and the portability over a GPS system installed in a car. I feel this is a necessity in everyday life.

I'm glad I heard about this product. It would be of great use for my family and I when we go to Yosemite for a week each year. There isn't any cell service there and this would really be helpful! Thanks for posting this blog! I'm going to look into buying this wonderful product. :)

That is a totally amazing device, and I would love to own it especially since my husband and I take family vacations strictly by car. I think it would be really good for school age children. You wouldn't have to worry about them using up all their minutes and you'd know exactly where they were.

I need to check into this ! A few weeks ago I went to louisiana, and on the way home to houston got lost in the middle of nowhere driving down a 1 lane road for 2 hours, no signal on my phone, no food, no drinks, no gas stations, no people! it was awful ! I def. need a GPS!

Wow! This is the first I've heard of this. When I think of all the times I've lost power during a hurricane and cell phones didn't work, this ingenious device would bring peace of mind to my family who are usually worried! Definitely nifty..will look into this! Thanks! Great Post!

How cute is that?! Fits right into your hand or pocket at an okay price but if you get stranded somewhere unknown, this is certainly a lifesaver. No price is worth that!

This looks like something my friends and I could really use! After losing and/or breaking so much modern technology like phones, cameras, etc. I think in the long run, this would save most people a lot of money and worry in the more dire of situations! It is a very creative idea, and one I'm sure will create much competition and draw in major profits!
