Make your own Nail Color

Friday, January 07, 2011

This may seem like a pretty basic concept, but if you are wanting to sport a unique custom color that you just can’t find on shelf, make it! By taking just 2 colors you can instantly create your own shade. For instance, love the khaki brown color like that from Chanel, then try painting nails white first and then add ontop a layer of dark brown for a lighter brown hue! Try e.l.f. Nail Polish and design your own color. What’s your favorite nail color?

I did that just this week with one of E.L.F.'s nail colors! Can you get the same result by mixing colors?

I love mixing fluorescent pink and hot pink E.L.F nail polish together to create just the right pink for me. The fluorescent is a little light and the hot pink is a little darker but together they make my idea color.

I love painting my nails white/nude first for colors that aren't as opaque to give them a boost! My favorite nail colors are dark blue and lavender.

This is a good tip! I was thinking of using a pink nail polish I had and the Twinkle I purchased from e.l.f. together. I think it'd be a cute combo. My favorite nail polishes are generally purples. I hope the Lilac is back in stock soon!

I never even considered doing this before. Though I do decorate my nails with dots of other colors, strips with the thin paints or jewels bought in stores, I never thought to layer to change the colors. Thanks for the idea.

I LOVE MIXING my nail polishes but i just always layered, i never thought to mix in a seperate container or paper. my fav nail polishes are browns and grays and taupes. im all about nuetrals and sometimes they can be boring so i try to jazz it up with some nail art so i love elf polishes though. they are gorgeous and have every shade imaginable and i love every one i have ever used and i clean alot and its so long lasting it makes a $6 nail polish look hideous compared to it. i hope elf keeps coming out with great shades so i dont have to mix my own :)

I actually mix a new color (or some sparkle) into a 1/2 used bottle of a favorite color - shake...a unique new tint to sport!

Was able to re-create CHANELS "Particuliere" with a coat of ELF'S "Blush" first then a coat of "Chocolate" and a finish of one more coat of "Blush". Was not time consuming, and I was just playing around with ELF's colors, I even had time for a top coat and finish coat! Thanks for the tip Achelle!

Another way is to get clear nail polish and inexpensive eyeshadow and crumble the shadow in the nail polish then shake it up.
