Lady Gaga's Meat Dress

Friday, October 08, 2010

You may have watched the MTV Video Music Awards and was entertained by the usual celebrity turnout, fashionable attire and musical performances. But…the biggest head turner was Lady Gaga’s meat dress, yes MEAT! Being a vegetarian I may not have sported this fleshy look, but it sure go a lot of attention. Gaga said “It is a devastation to me that I know my fans who are gay … feel like they have governmental oppression on them. That’s actually why I wore the meat tonight.” What do you think, love it or leave it?

I don't think it's beauty, I mean, come on, when is wearing a meat dress beauty? it's just a way of bringing attention to herself. That's what I think. Beauty is beauty when something actually is beautiful, not gross. This is my opinion :)

I think that this is such a waste of food. She wears so many crazy things but this is just a little to much. I'm sure who ever sat close or next to her must have thought she smelled. lol

How does wearing meat relate to government oppression of her gay fans? Besides, it's nasty and a waste of food.

I think its a bit gross, I mean, I wouldnt want to wear it, but her cause is very good, so I have to support her on it. More power to her for pulling it off well, and keeping a good reason behind it. I dont think anyone else could have done it, and it got attention, which also brought attention to her reasons behind it, so all in all it worked out well!

I think the meat dress is a little too much. I wonder who even made that for her.

The message she's trying to send out with the meat outfit doesn't really make all that much sense.

I don't understand Lady Gaga's rationale at wearing a meat dress whatsoever. I found her "attire" to be totally disgusting.

I absolutely LOVE Lady Gaga and her music but her choices in wardrobe always seem to leave me scratching my head. This is by far the worst. She could have done other things to show her upset and concern for fans than to hang dead animal meat on her body. It was just sick. Sorry, Gaga...this fashion choice was too bizarre to comprehend.

I think that there are other ways to support a gay movement than wearing a meat dress, that really doesn't make much sense. I am actually suprised that PETA or some other group wasn't all over this.

I think Lady Gaga is a hack and this is just a hack attempt at hack attention. I wish she would fade from the spot light but she's stopping it from happening with these publicity stunts

I love the message she wanted to send but I am really lost on why she choose meat. Still she got the opportunity to express it - even if it was to simply explain her wardrobe choice.

I don't see the correlation. How does governmental oppression of gays realate to the wearing of dead flesh?

LEAVE IT. Her explaination was beyond ridiculous. There is absolutely no correlation between the meat dress and making a stand for her gay fans. Being a vegetarian, I found the "statement" she was attempting to make with the dress disgusting and disturbing. I will admit I am a fan of Lady Gaga's music, but the things she wears and says are beyond me.

I can't believe Lady Gaga wore a dress made out of meat. How does that support the gay at all? There are many other ways to help end the oppression of gays. I am also a vegetarian and this just upsets me so much. Definitely leave it!!

As much as I like MOST of Lady Gaga's music, I can't say that I enjoy her style choices. In my opinion, the meat dress was going just a little too far. Besides, wouldn't it be uncomfortable? I've chopped up raw meat before with my bare hands, and after a while they start to itch. So wouldn't wearing a meat dress make you itch a lot? So, to the dress I would say leave it!!

WOW! While I support the sentiment (that all people should be treated equally under the law, regardless of sexual orientation) I find the "meat dress" to have crossed the line. It is great to be "out there" and unique, but this stunt is vulgar, cruel, and a blantant self-serving publicity stunt. I too am a vegetarian and try to consistently live to protect animals, including only purchasing beauty and cosmetic products from companies who are dedicated to being cruelty free (like E.L.F!) Unless I am totally missing something in this story, Lady Gaga owes animals and animal-lovers a contrite apology. There are far better ways to advocate for gay rights.

She's very brave for dressing up in meat of all things. Good for her for changing the boring, humdrum affairs and spicing it up a bit to make a statement! Hope the wolves don't come running after her!

meat grosses me out, but it's her decision. but i do think she stole the idea off the key of awesome! if you check their youtube parody of bad romance, they parody her wearing a bathing suit made of raw meat. but i do think that she does make a statment by wearing it.

I would have also used the meat dress to point out how we would look to animals if they ate humans. I was a good opportunity to have meat eaters see what is wrong with the way we treat animals...

I do not see the connect here at all between wearing meat and supporting her gay fans. Trying to relate and show that you support them is great, but covering yourself with something an animal was tortured for isn't the way to go about it. Make a speech. Wear a tee-shirt. Come up with a campaign.

Lady Gaga is just trying to seek out attention, whether its negative or positive attention, she will take it!! It's sad but two each is own. Right?
