Easy Smoky Eye

Monday, January 10, 2011

Want to know how to create an easy smoky eye?  Well, all you need is 1 product our Studio Eyeliner & Shadow Stick.  Take the eyeshadow side and blend over the eye, then line the eye with the eyeliner creating a bold line and smudge in.  That’s it, other brands charge around $9 for similar products, when ours is just $3!  For an extra glam look curl your lashes with the Eyelash Curler and apply a few coats of mascara.  What’s your trick to the perfect smoky eye?

I'm totally incapable of smoky eyes for some reason. I feel like my eyes look tiny. Is there a way to do them that doesn't make my eyes look small?

Have you tried doing it in a more neutral color such as brown, a grey or burgundy? Sometimes blacks and charcoals can come off to strong... By using a brown pallet you could still have a smoky eye without it being so strong. This will allow you to enhance your eyes with out distracting peoples attention away from them. N FYI... I am really impressed with the elf product line. It continues to get better and better, especially the studio line.

No matter what I do, I can never get the perfect smoky eye look. I think it works for some people, but for some it's just not a good idea (me being the group that it doesn't work for).

I have bought other smoky eye kits, cream and shadow, but they always crease! I use primer, too. I'll have to try this one:)

I would love to try this product for $3. Although the $9 version disappointed me, I believe that this an innovation worth trying again. Perhaps E.L.F. has done it better.

My smokey eyes always have lots of beautiful browns with just a little of black or a charcoal in the creases! The browns make the eyes look natural while the blacks make the eyes smoke!

my trick is to start with a little eye shadow first so that i dont go over board with too much, then i add more as needed. also eyeliner by itself smudged with and eyeshadow brush makes the perfect easy smokey eye.

I like to highlight the arch of my brow with elf mineral makeup in "angel"...it just adds to the smokey effect and gives it that "WoW" factor. A dap of it in the corner of the eye also brightens the eye! Don't forget, blend, blend, blend.

I don't think a smoky eye with black eyeshadow is girly or pretty (just my thought)but in bronze and purple shades its very feminine and elf has all of the products to make it happen.

My tip for achieving the perfect smokey eye is to pick colors that look best with your eye color, it doesn't always have to be black and dark gray. I have bright green eyes and I am always looking for ways to play them up, so I use purples. I use a silver in the inner corners of my eyes, and a light eggplant color all over the lid and a dark plum color on the crease and outter corners of my eyes blending as I work my way through. A good smokey eye is all about blending, and not all about piling on layers of black! Purples and gold/browns are by far my favorite to doing a smokey eye, and I always add a little shimmer/shine to mine. I hope this helps someone :)

I will definitely take these tips into action. I do smoky eyes nearly 24/7 and I have gone through many different methods from blending shimmery colors with the black, to putting on glitter paste on the lid before the eyeshadow to darken the color and now I'm glad to say that I will go out and get an eyeshadow stick to make makeup application much smoother and quicker.

My trick is to use a good blending brush to blend away harsh lines at the edges. Keeps the "raccoon" look from happening! xoxo
