Gift Shopping

Wednesday, December 01, 2010

It’s that time of year again, time to dash to the stores in hunt for the best deals on the perfect gift!  I tend to opt for gifts like candles, starbucks or itune gift cards, bath&body, etc as they tend to be the universal gift that gets anyone excited.  A helpful tip for shopping this season is everyone in my family sends out a list of different items they would hope to receive, this makes it easy to get the most ideal gift that doesn’t end up “re-gifted”.  What do you think is a great gift to give (besides e.l.f. makeup of course)?

When in doubt, I love giving (and getting) very simple wearable jewelery, mini art kits, food, and who doesn't love a stuffed animal! :)

I believe that gift cards are acceptable IF you also add an actual gift. Let's say that you get your family member or friend a gift card of 10$ worth, I would then give them an actual thoughtful gift worth more than the gift card. But on the other hand, if the gift card is larger (which I don't like really giving gift cards), then a small thoughtful gift would be nice. In my opinion, a great gift is anything that someone can use over and over again or wear over and over again.

I love to give gifts that are personalized, or having meaning, such as a picture frame with a special picture or a photo slideshow. Cheap and easy to make! I love these elf gift ideas, too! I will be doing some of my shopping through elf this holiday season! :)

I feel like ELF cosmetics has gotten a lot better with their products over the past 2 years that I have been collecting elf and I think they should keep all of their limited edition items, and not make them limited edtion.

I'd say candles to go along with the e.l.f bath and body collection! Have a nice bath, with some nice candles to really relax the body!

I'm planning to give some baked goods this year--a pretty (and reusable!) basket with homemade cookies or fresh bread, maybe a wedge of good cheese, and lined with a festive dish towel.

I love giving elf stuff as holiday presents! I usually get the custom palette and give like an eyeshadow, blush, and two lip glosses because that way it's individual to the person. Also it's like five dollars so it's cheap.

I like gifts that come from the heart. Anybody who really knows should have some idea what you want (or need). Or gifts that are useful no matter who you are; for example, my mother-in-law used to give us all socks every holiday. Useful, practical, and she picked out ones she was sure we would like.

I realize that the $5 gift card promotion is over since it already reached the first 25, but I still wanted to answer :-) I think the best gift to give is ones that come from the heart. It doesn't have to be homemade, But I love getting photo collages that one of my family members or friends put together for us. There's so much thought that has to go into making a gift like that. I love remembering all the fun times I had with that person. Also, it makes wonderful wall art!

RATS! It's past 25 comments! Oh well, still would like to share! I get baskets from Goodwill or somewhere cheap, and spray paint them collages of greens and reds and then fill them things I make myself. Such as baked goods like Christmas cookies, brownies, jams and jellies, or anything. If you are unsure of how to cook/make something just google it. Or you can make lots of Christmas ornaments, and again if you need help/suggestions, just google how to make Christmas ornaments, and you will come up with hundreds! I think people appreciate the self made gifts more, I know I do! Merry Christmas!

As you mentioned Starbucks and iTunes giftcards are winners because I know they'll get used up. I also think that non-perishable food is a good gift for people that cook, a basket with some good quality olive oil, vinegars, spices etc maybe a bit fancier than one would normally buy. I haven't bought any this year so far so not sure if they still have them (but I'm sure they do) but I've given away hot chocolate gift sets from Godiva and Ghiradelli several times. I'm sometimes a little leery about bath and body stuff unless it's a holiday/ltd ed thing, I just worry that it'll sit around because they prefer their regular products. But if it's a holiday product, like a peppermint bubblebath or shimmer powder or something I feel better about that because it isn't really meant for everyday use anyway and if it's a 'holiday' themed thing the novelty will hopefully ensure it gets tried at least a few times.

i love loading my family with little stocking stuffers, in particularly my 17 yr old sister with tons of elf stuff cuz they're so cheap but good quality stuff that i know won't irritate or do damage to her skin. I also like little things such as candles, cosmetics and fragrances samples (where i can easily get at the stores), hand sanitizers, little lotion bottles, mouth wash, mints, socks, cookies & candies, those are just some of the stuff i like to stock up on but i also tend to get everyone one major gift that fits in with their needs and personality.

Anything that is and will be memorable from now until forever. One of the greatest gifts you can give especially a sibling as an old photo of the both of you together. A photo that they have certainly forgotten about and one that once they see it will remember the exact date, time and location it was taken.

For the holidays I love giving, even more than getting gifts. I like to get alot of little things and make baskets or gift towers. I usually start planning from October and by Dec. 1 I'm in total Christmas mode and I just love the feeling and spirit of the season. SO happy, like I'm a kid again. :)

Almost all of my make up is from e.l.f. and I'm so happy with it! So many people have complimented me on my makeup and asked me to show them my e.l.f. products, which work so much better than all of those expensive make up brands! The website is also fantastic!!! I especially love "get the look"(its right on the very top of the home page) I learned many great tips and fabulous creative looks from there. Thank you so much e.l.f. for everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This year all my female friends are getting e.l.f. studio brushes as gifts. Affordable and SO GOOD! Usually I'll try to give something edible. People are tired of stuff but a good tasty bite is always appreciated. Nice country smoked ham, some graved lachs or a small jar of caviar - nobody has cringed yet :)

E.L.F. Makeup has changed the role cosmetics play in womans daily life. In my opinion, this is the first company to not only sell, but educate their consumers by posting tips and detailed advice on use of products. AND they have socialize the shopping experience by featuring blogs and comment forums on their site. Women are now able to utilize cosmetics properly and effectively. Using the correct brush for bronzer and the correct one for foundation and knowing which tools are best matched with the cosmetic are now common knowledge for even the minimal makeup wearer. Professionals are no longer the only ones who can apply perfect makeup now, women are achieving amazing looks on their own while having fun with it and feeling confident when they see their results knowing they didnt need someone to apply it for them. Young girls can discover a passion for a future in the cosmetology field by having access to these products and being educated fromfirst use. The prices are pennys compared to their competitors and they deliver quality and low prices... Consumers are no longer forced to sacrifice one or the other. There is absolutely nothing bad that I could think of to say about E.L.F cosmetics and I hope they receive the respect and recognition in this industry they deserve.
