Makeup to Workout?

Monday, February 28, 2011

I like to think I look semi put together at all times, even at the gym (or at least I try).  But, what about those girls with their perfect makeup, styled hair, and barely there sport bras and short shorts “working out”, you know those girls I’m talking about.  Do you think you should have full makeup on when you work out?  Vanessa Hudgens was spotted running all natural in LA jogging.  Which way do you prefer, bare or bold?

I personally like a little makeup when I work out, such as a tinted mositurizer and chapstick. But I can't stand girls who wear full makeup to work out--you're going to a gym, not a nightclub!

I think you should skip the full make-up when working out (unless you are going right to the gym from work and forgot your face wash). It can't be good for your pores, having makeup and sweat getting in them plus, unless you have waterproof eye makeup, your eyes will be burning bigtime when it all starts dripping in your eyes. You get a great healthy glow once you get that heartrate up; why cover it up? And lastly, if you look like you are all made up just for the gym, you make people wonder why you are there: to get attention or to have a real workout? Oh, lastly lastly, skip or wash off any perfume...it reeks once your body warms up and is very annoying when people are trying to breath on the next machine over!

I think you should work out mostly natural. maybe something light on your lips, a little liner and or some powder or something on your face to cover up flushing

I dont believe in wearing makeup to work out. If you're sincerely there to work on your fitness, then your face shouldn't be done up as if you were going out.

Well, I generally have a full face on....Only because I work out at the (free) gym here at work. I am a professional so I wear my makeup to work and work out at the end of the day...that way I can go home a sweaty mess and not have to go back to my office looking busted...LMAO :)

I think working out with makeup kind of proves that you're not there to work out. But then again, I often go to the gym at lunch, and have my morning makeup on, but I try to wipe a bit off before I start running so that I don't sweat it off. It just depends on the situation.

It honestly depends on when I'm working out. If I'm going into the gym before work I usually go bare. But if it's after work I'll go in wearing my daily 'face'. I find that I usually prefer the bare look since I have oily skin and when I really sweat my foundation starts to feel as if it's 'melting'. Not a great look when that hunk on the treadmill looks my way.

I don't think its a good idea to work out wearing makeup, because it can clog your pores, and then add the sweat in the mix I don't think anything good can come from that. But if you MUST I would recommend wearing a mineral makeup.

Makeup while I work out? Yes!! I usually go to the gym around 3 or 4pm several times a week. I apply makeup every day in the morning so I just leave it on when I go to the gym. Why waste time washing it off? Plus I get flushed when working out, so I like a little tint on my face so the redness does not show through. My makeup also tends to stay in place while I work out so it doesn’t run or smear. It seems like a win-win situation for me to wear makeup to the gym. Then when I shower, the makeup and grime from the gym all wash off leaving me all fresh and clean....ready for the next makeup application :)

I can understand some makeup if you're coming to the gym after work, but actually applying makeup to go jogging or to the dirty gym? No way! It's terrible for your skin and you're going to be washing it off, anyway! Let your body sweat out the toxins naturally instead of clogging your pores with makeup. I won't even get started on the more subconscious effort to look flawless even at the gym to impress people, be it men or women.

No way to makeup while working out! If you're exercising and working HARD, you'll most likely be working up a sweat. You don't need makeup all over your face mixing with the sweat; you might breakout. I say if you really have a lack of confidence that day, a tinted moisturizer and a hint of lip gloss wouldn't be too bad, otherwise nothing but regular moisturizer and chapstick.

I usually end up going to the gym with what's left of the day's makeup on because I head over straight from work. I try to remember to bring makeup remover pads with me but most days I go in with a little bit of foundation and waterproof mascara left- weekends, I go first thing in the morning with no makeup at all. I always make sure what I have on my eyes is waterproof to avoid red, burning, watery eyes and as soon as I'm done I shower immediately to get all the sweat and remaining makeup off of my face.

I don't wear makeup when working out. If you're seriously working out then you're going to sweat and all of the makeup is going to clog pores. Also it just looks weird going to the gym with a bunch of makeup on. I understand some gloss and tinted moisturizer. I personally say no but whatever gets people exercising is good :)

Definitely bare. Sweating with all that make up on your face can cause break outs and irritation. When you get hot and sweaty, your pores open up and well, all that dirt mixed with make up can get in there and it won't be a pretty sight after a couple of days. If someone feels naked without their make up, I would recommend only wearing eyeliner at most.

I definitely do not wear a lot of makeup (or any makeup at all) when working out. Before my gym closed, I would roll out of bed, wash my face and brush my teeth, and head on over to the gym before I could come up with an excuse not to go. I have no reason to look good while working out - I'm just going to get sweaty and yucky anyway. Plus, after you shower, your makeup comes off anyway. Prettying yourself up just to get stinky and sweaty at the gym is a waste of time!

When your working out, your sweating up a storm and its hard to look all put together. i think a tinted moisturizer and a lip conditioner are good enough. Being bare is probably the best bet cause your most likely going to sweat off all that makeup.

I think it's really what makes you most comfortable. There shouldn't be a standard as to what you should or should not do as far as beauty when you're working out. If you are at the gym or anywhere else working out, you are trying to better yourself. If wearing make-up and having perfectly styled hair makes you feel more confident, which in turn makes you want to work out, go for it! If not, don't worry about. Girls should do what they feel is right for the, and most comfortable for them personally.

Makeup isn't there to make you feel beautiful it's there to enhance your already amazing and unique feature. It's just like your body and gym your body is beautiful and if you want to enhance your natural features you go to the gym and work it out or tone it out. If you feel the need to put mascara then so be it ! Enhance the natural and most attractive things about yourself Eyes, lips .. but don't cake up with makeup YOUR NOT THERE TO DO A PAGEANT your there to work out a sweat! It's true beauty is skin deep ; beauty is in the eye of the beholder. & if you don't feel as if those quotes are correct then you aren't comfortable with yourself! Not going anti-makeup I LOVE IT; it's just be realistic it's gym.

I personally workout barefaced, because having a full face of makeup while sweating provides a better chance of huge breakouts! Normally I'm only wearing Chapstick and always curl my lashes. On occasion, I've worn concealer on a pimple but I always wash my face after a workout.

If you are working out and sweating, then it's probably not a good idea to wear a ton of makeup because it could clog your pores. I wear maybe a little lip gloss and some sunscreen if I'm outdoors. But you could do cute things with your hair, like a braided ponytail so you look cute but your hair is out of your face!

Doesnt that just look so fantastic while you are working out, then you have black lines all over your face and then it will run more then when you wipe it off you wil just smear all the makeup you have on.

I personally prefer to go bare because like a few of you said the makeup will clog your pores and like if you sweat and makeup mixes it gets really gross and I mean you're already gross with just sweat and stinky so why would you want to be gross in 3 ways and you will most likely breakout and I do understand that some people don't feel comfortable not wearing makeup like you can still wear like a little liner and lip gloss but nothing else unless you just feel the need to put on some powder but not foundation thats what clogs your pores

When I work out, I use my facial clothes to remove my makeup that I wore to work. I don't think you should wear full make up, maybe some lip gloss or chapstick, but not foundation, concealer and the works. It just looks like your trying to hard and that your not there for the real reason and that is to get your exercise on and get healthy. Plus, it can't be good for your skin either.

A little makeup is okay I suppose. A little waterproof mascara should be all you really need. If you're actually going to the gym to work out, you're face should become naturally rosy and dewy. If you're wearing a full face of makeup-foundation and all-I would assume that working out isn't your true motive for going to the gym. Keep it light ladies! Let your pores breath! Save the makeup for the club.

If I can go about my day in skinny jeans , pearl earrings, corkscrew curls and a made up face around the house and not think twice about the fact that no one is going to see how good I think I look (lol), why can't my stylish chicks rock their hotness while exercising? i believe that we beautiful ladies should NOT wear a full face of makeup!! We should show how gorgeous we are espec at times like this when we're trying to look good and work out!! I personally go with out the makeup, i love jus getting into my workout and not worrying about my makeup looking all wrong! lol
