Sulfer

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

If you suffer from acne, cystic acne, or pimples, you should be very familiar with the correct way to hide your blemishes. Look for makeup with blemish-fighting properties and when you’re not covering up, you should treat. At the top of your shopping list should be topical treatment products containing sulfur.

Sulfur absorbs quickly into the skin and won’t cause any irritation or redness. It usually works as fast, if not faster than other ingredients more common for anti-acne. Sulfur is also great because it layers with makeup, moisturizers, and pretty much anything else you put on top of it without any peeling. In general, products with 4% to 8% sulfur are the best for your skin.

You can also mix sulfur treatment products with your daily moisturizer to add an extra bit of help to your daily routine and apply your makeup on top. Your makeup will look great, you won’t have any flaking, and you’ll be treating your skin all at the same time.

Sulfur?...I have acne on my back (eww I know) and I want to treat it but I'm hesitant about this...isn't sulfur toxic or is it only in certain forms?

Acne products containing sulfur totally changed my skin. I use a sulfer treatment on my skin every night, and my skin has never looked to clear! I really enjoy the blemish powder from ELF because I can wear it under my makeup, so I can treat my acne at any time of the day!!

I hate when blemishes almost form to a new patch on your skin, like a bed of flowers. I will def have to take this advice and look for some products like this. So e.l.f. sells some products, is the zit zapper one of them? I was going to try it out for the here and there ones that come up. I will have to go look right now!

My dermatologist said the same thing, i use my neutrogena skin clearing makeup first with my ELF powder brush and stipple it, and then set it with my ELF foundation. the nuetrogena helps clear your face, and the mineral foundation really helps my oily skin. i also LOVE the blotting sheets, and for only a dollar?! I have one in my bookbag, purse, and my makeup drawer!

I didn't know it was a good way to treat acne. I always have random breakout and don't know how to fix it. I tried everything and not seems to work well. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try this next time.

I don't know how quickly it works to eliminate breakouts because I wasn't very consistent, but I do know that ELF's mineral blemish powder works really well to camouflage pimples and reduce redness, which is unexpected because it's so sheer, but I love it!

i'll have to try this. i also find that washing my face with ice-cold milk at night then letting it air dry helps reduce irritation and redness.
