I’m not one of those avid runners who love miles at end jogs.  So I set out to challenge myself and make a goal, a goal to run the More/Fitness Half Marathon on April 3rd in NYC.  Yes, that’s 13.1 miles running, and for someone like myself who had never ran more than 4 miles in my life maybe 3 times this was going to be ruff.  Surprisingly though, and I say this with all honesty it really hasn’t been that bad.  I’m in week 7 of training and just ran 11 miles on Saturday, a personal record first!  For me, I’ve been on a training schedule that works best for me and I run at a pace I’m comfortable at, it’s not a race for me but rather a victory run for myself that I complete without stopping!  My 10 minute miles is a comfortable pace that fuels me with the endurance to finish without killing myself.  I’ve also learned a few tricks, I love the Nike+ ipod, for $30 it updates you while you run in a cool app style function.  I also had a gait analysis and got proper foot gear so I run more aligned, definitely a must!  So ladies, what’s your personal bucket list goal this year?

I prefer power-walking in a park with hills, sometimes with small hand weights. Running seems to make my knees hurt more than anything.

I lost 20 lbs. working out at the school gym last semester. My bad eating habits crept back over the holidays though so my goal is to get back on track and lose another 10 to 20 lbs. by summer.

My goal this year is to drop the baby weight. 2 years is too long to be carrying an extra 20 pounds. We'll see where this goes.

I hear you Achelle! I'm running a half for the 3rd time in May, and it's still rough to train... I do 10 min miles too but it keeps me motivated and races are so fun! Running a full is on my bucket list for fall, but we'll see what happens :-) I'm not a natural runner but I truly enjoy it!

omg, congratulations to you! I started jogging two years ago every morning and I noticed how it changed my lifestlye. I started watching what I ate more carefully and I had more energy the rest of the day. My confidence also boost 100% so jogging is the best exercise to start if anyone wants to get in shape!! This year, I hope to get new bicycling gear ready for this spring! Minnesota has beautiful bike trails! :)

I have really been interested in running a marathon. I plan on training in the next coming weeks. i will start off slow since i have never ran one before. I have heard from friends that once you start running and get into it it really becomes enjoying and a way to run off the days stresses. hope it works for me!

I plan on increasing my biking capability. I love to bike around the city and am a great sprinter, but I want to be able to take longer rides in shorter amounts of time. I want to increase my distance average to 20-30 miles per day! (Not every day haha)

I'm the same way with running. I tend to have trouble breathing after running even just a little. I'm actually on week 4 of training for a 3 mile run; starting small. I've learned proper ways of breathing while running and good techniques. Running with music is a must.

I absolutely love running and normally run four miles a day, every day no matter what. But in December I started having knee problems and developed tendonitis because my right leg is a little bit shorter than my left, and my right knee was overcompensating for it. Where did you go to get your foot gear? I've tried going to Road Runner to get my running analyzed and it helped with my foot pain, but now I need to deal with the knee pain.

This is awesome! Your story totally motivates me, I'm not an avid runner but I do run here and there. I also believe it's good to not always try and compete to win, rather just finish your goal. My personal bucket list goal this year? I want to volunteer as much as I can, I want to help out at shelters, schools, and the community!

I am not a huge fan of running but love to workout! My bucket list is to start weight training with my husband and boys in our basement! It is a fun way to hang out with them and look cut in a bathing suit! Good luck on your race!
