Jennifer Aniston's Tattoo

Apparently Jennifer Aniston’s love of dogs extends past her role in Marley & Me. Her recently deceased terrier, Norman, now has his name tattooed on the inside of her foot. Despite this being sweet, in a strange sort of way, tattoo expert, Ami James, disagrees with the placement of the tattoo. Feet are always exposed and exfoliated, so tattoos don’t do so well down there. Would you get a tattoo of your pets name?

I personally would rather have a tattoo in a subtle spot, and since the ink goes deep into the skin, I'd think it would take a loooong time for it to show signs of "wear."

Being a dog owner, the love you feel for a pet is much like the love you have for a child, so I can see why Jennifer felt this was a touching tribute. I think the placement of the tat is greatly influenced by her career, discreet yet visible when she chooses to let it be viewed. Although I wouldn't personally want one on my foot, as it would need to be touched up regularly, and from what I hear is a tender area, the location places her in control of the tat rather than the tat controlling her. Mature choice I would say.

I don't think I would get a tattoo of my pet's name, because it will stay there forever. I recently lost a pet that i loved very much, but i think getting a tattoo is a little extreme. Also, if the name of the pet was Bubbles or something like that, it would be really weird to be tattooed onto you.

I have a tattoo around my wrist that includes the name of my son and 5 cats (past and present). At first glance it looks like I'm wearing a bracelet, and most people don't see that its a tattoo until they look really hard. I have never regretted it, and I will get another to include any future pets too.

I totally support Jenn's decision to have her dearly departed dog's name tatooed on her body. For many people, pets are like members of our families. And, once they are gone, there's nothing wrong with choosing to cherish their memory in one's own special way.

My sister has a toy chihuahua and my mom swears I treat her like she's my 'niece'. And I'm not an 'animal lover' in any sense of the word. I've never had a pet of my own and I'm in my 30's. But I understand Jen's decision. Pets can truly become part of the family.

When my first dog died I was devastated. We got her cremated and the pet crematorium does a plaster impression of the pet's paw to give to the owner when they pick up the ashes. I took that little plaster dish to my tattoo artist and he replicated it exactly for me in a black and grey tattoo on the outside of my right calf, she was always by my side there and now always will be. When my rabbits died I had a tattoo artist copy a necklace charm I have of two bunnies (everyone says they look like Peeps) on the inside of my lower left arm where i I always carried them, along with a banner that says "You're no bunny til some bunny loves you." I love my pets a lot and I fully support getting a tattoo to commemorate that special bond between human and animal.

I have no clue if this is what it is in her case, but there are a lot of times when a pet has been in the family for many years, and someone in that family has died and the dog being there for you through that seems to make you more attached to them. so there could be a more symbolic meaning to the tattoo than just the dog itself.

I think getting a tattoo of your animal's name is a little over the top. I know some people treat thier pets like family but I mean a tattoo. Some people just have to much money and time on thier hands. She's not the only one out there that has done this.

Absolutely!!My sister and I just recently lost a very, special kitty. We have been seriously considering getting a tattoo as a remembrance to our wonderful "Possum" who we miss terribly. We should also remember that we all love and grief in different ways. So what may seem as "strange" to some,to others it is just a way to show your love and I don't think there is anything wrong showing LOVE!! P.S. adopt and your heart will be filled with an unconditional love unlike any other.

I definitely would! It is a little extreme, but the love I have for my dogs are just as passionate. They are great companions and I believe should be remembered in special ways.
