The New French Mani

Friday, August 26, 2011

The French manicure is back and more chic than ever. Despite having a bad rep over the last few years, runways have taken the initiative at reinventing a classic. Start out by polishing the whole nail with our nail polish in Nude and let dry. Next, take Dark Navy and carefully polish just around the edge of the nail. Use a thin eyeliner brush if it’s easier. Fix up any mistakes with our easy to use Nail Polish Remover Pads and finish off the look with a Clear or Matte topcoat!

I have only done the traditional or added a little glitter but I love the idea of using bold colors for a modern look.

sounds alot better because it covers your whole nail instead of just the tip so it prevent past nail polishes to from showing

Love LOVE love! This modern take on the French classic is adorable! I've tried it a few times and really love every combination- matching or contrasting, bright, dark, jewel toned, pastel... always fresh or edgy. What else can I say? LOVE, and sure you will to!

I LOVE THESE!!! I would also love to see if you could maybe do a backwards french mani? With the lighter color at the cuticle?

I just tried ELF nail polishes for the first time. I will never go back. I base coated with bubble gum pink with chocolate tips! Such lush colors, and I haven't had any troubles with chipping! With such amazing colors the combinations are endless. What are you waiting for?

I love this look. I'll usually use two bright colors like blue n purple. I'll use blue as my main color w a purple strip for my nails and then switch it up for my toes using purple for the main color w a blue strip.

it looks really cool if you put a line of polka dots where the 2 colors meet. to do this you take an eyeliner brush and use the other end~not the brush end. you can put a little puddle of nail polish on a piece of paper (not a tissue) and dip the end in the nailpolish and dot it along the nail. it works best if you get a substantial amount of polish and let it drop the dot as opposed to pushing the color on. i really like the hot pink base with black tip and silver polka dots.

I don't know. I think I'm just not "into" the colored French manicures. Especially the dark base and light tip. I tend to wear sheer colors sometimes and the nail shows through for kind of a shadow French manicure and I'm not fond of that either. Not to say it's bad - just not something I want to wear for a week.

I didn't even know the french mani was "out" lol, I never stopped, its my "go to" nail style, I guess I sort of thought it was clean simple and essentially timeless :P hehe, but then again never been one to follow the 'latest' in fashion XD at least for the time being my nails will be 'in' buahahaa!
