The Perfect Holidates This Winter!

Thursday, December 01, 2011

Living in New York, I've been forced to acclimate myself to frigid winter weather, which isn't easy for a native southerner like me. I find it so difficult to leave the apartment when it's unbearably cold outside! When you're dating someone that could definitely be a #dealbreaker! Noone wants to sit in the house with you and watch another Sex and the City marathon on E! In order to snap out of the winter self-inflicted hybernation, I've put together a list of dates that will surely transport you to a winter wonderland!

1. Skiing, snowboarding, snow-tubing -

This is an obvious choice! My boyfriend who is a skiing savant is actually making it his winter mission to teach me how to ski. While this can be difficlt no matter either experience level, it will be a great bonding experience!! Definitely a way to show your fun, fearless and free side to your guy!

2. Hockey Games -

By far one of the most entertaining sporting events that you can attend, hockey, is a winter sport that packs in a big punch! LITERALLY! Between the fights and the passionate fans, who actually are known to get in scuffles themselves, you won't be bored for one second! Here in NYC, we have the Rangers and the Islanders, but there are tons of NHL and minor league teams all over the country. Where I'm from in North Carolina we have two teams the NHL Carolina Hurricanes and the Charlotte Checkers! Be sure to google the closest hockey team to you! You boyfriend will be pleasantly surprised with this date idea! Sidenote: Be sure to dress warm because it gets chilly in their arenas!

3. Wine Bar -

Wine bars are dark and perfect for romance! This winter definitely put on some cute leggining, a chunky sweather and some cute booties and cozy up next to your date with a glass of red wine. Spice things up by asking the sommelier of a complex red with spicy notes to be sure that you stay warm! My favorite is a good Cabernet! This look that LC (I know, so Laguna to call her that) is wearing is perfect!

4. Holiday Lights Tour -

Usually in every community there's a neighborhood that is known for their over-the-top lights during the holiday season! I'm sure you can find some Griswold's around your neck of the woods somewhere!

What are your holidate ideas, elfettes?!

I just thought I'd post a comment here although it has nothing to do with the aforementioned blogs. Today was my 2nd time purchasing ELF at Target. I just can not believe the quality/price this line affords anyone. Now, I could see it possible if the product wasn't worth the ink printed on the packaging, but this stuff is Unbelievable! I've worked within the cosmetic field since '77. Yes, more years than I care to admit to, but that's not the point here. In this time of money recession Elf becomes singly the only cosmetics I'm aware of (at least for myself) where one doesn't have to feel guilty buying products which #1) one could probably do without if one truly measured what is necessary in life. #2) there were less expensive alternatives. #3) that ELF wasn't up to snuff, as they say. #4) that the product was not fashionable or up to trends. #5) ELF was not comparable/relevant to what other more expensive lines (drugstore or department store)offered. I could think of more, but you get the idea. I had no idea this line existed in a little corner of my local Target and that I didn't know about it! I'm certainly happy that I found what seems to be an illusion in this world of over-priced everything, especially within the cosmetic world, my forte. I know the true value of life does not rely on what one looks like and it is the person's inner beauty, light, heart, loving and unselfishness toward others and one's self, the seeking out of one's true authenticity. However, that said there is nothing like a little treat to lift one's mood (I'll leave "spirit" off this cliche.) To be able to do that, even impulsively, can be just the thing one would like (I'll also leave "need" from this sentence.) I have so far bought 5 items. 3 my 1st purchase and 2 on this 2nd. I really hadn't gone to Target for either (as I said I had just discovered ELF the 1st purchase.) This time I needed some household/laundry items (boring) and decided to check back at ELF. The 2 items I purchased turned my dreary need for going to Target in the first place into a much more fun experience and all for the price of $2.00 extra I spent on ELF which I just got home, ripped open the 2 items and applied them immediately. They went on great, did what I wanted them to do and in the process made me look better. You know what they say "when you look better you feel better" even if it's momentary and washes off this evening. I still will get the same effect tomorrow when I reapply, but get to do so without having to feel guilty buying something so superfluous. Thanks Elf. I'm looking forward to trying more of your product line.

Believe it or not, I just learned about your makeup products just recently through Taaz.com. There was a great deal on there so I clicked on it to learn more about your makeup. :)

Wow, I just found this website yesterday through another site and I am impressed! I don't usually write reviews at all! I finished up my Christmas stuff for my precious daughter and myself. As a young mother my daughter does not have much time or money to take care of herself! So glad I found this site. I never knew ELF had so much! Wow! I will be back. Keep the specials/and/or sales coming please. Can't wait to see my family when they come in for Christmas! And I have enough gifts now! Times are tough. Thank you! Will be telling more people about your site and can't wait to come back and read a lot more here after Christmas. Too busy now but I keep taking a peek lol. Love this site!
