Getting a Bikini Bod!

Obviously you can tell from this blog that I've been scouring the world wide web for bikinis! While I'm having no trouble finding bikinis that make my money burn holes in my pockets, I'm definitely having some anxiety about getting into one. At night I tend to make lists of all the things I need to do; Whether it be tomorrow, the next day, next week, or next month. Next month is OFFICIALLY here and it's time to kick start the diet/workout plan that's been on my list since January. Here are the resolutions for bikini season that I'm not mandating into my life. 

1. Juicing for lunch! 

The juicing sensation has been a trend for a while now! Problem: I eat little to no fruit! I know that it's so weird that I don't eat fruit, but I've been this way since I was a toddler! It really limits my choices as far as juicing goes. Fortunately, I'm obsessed with veggies. For the next month, I'm going to challenge myself to replace my usual lunch of a sandwich with a juice. Want to join me?! 

Here's my go to juice recipes: 

3 - 4 Kale Leaves

Handful of Spinach

Cucumber 

2 Celery Stalks 

1 - 2 Grapefruits (depending on how sweet and tart you want your juice) 

2. More YOGA! 

Yoga is my favorite form of exercise! I've definitely been slacking in my practice lately because my normal yoga buddy, Gina, has changed her yoga schedule. Elfettes, I am NO LONGER allowed to use that as an excuse. Going to yoga alone is fun and I will do it at least 4 times a week or I'm going to have to be forced to tell you all that I've failed. The elfettes collectively are my accountability. I go to this amazing studio in New York City, Yoga to the People. It's a donation based studio so you come and give what you can when you can. If you're low on funds one day, no problem. I usually give about $5.  Warning: classes are crowded, but they're very fulfilling! 

3. Other... 

While yoga is pretty much the only form of exercise that I enjoy, I think it's important to find at least ONE other form of exercise to cross train your body and work other muscles in other ways. On the days that I don't attend yoga, I'm going to elliptical for at least 30 minutes. Walking home from work is always an option as well! Anything to mix up your routine and spark movement is good! 

Okay elfettes, it's up to you to keep me motivated and accountable! Any suggestions on how I can be bikini ready in a month?!

My biggest tip weather your trying to get a bikini body or just dieting in general would be to watch what you drink, because you wont go far if your having tea with seven spoons of sugar or chugging milk by the carton ;) x

Definitely incorporate some strength training into your yoga & cardio, especially large muscle groups. That can ramp up your metabolism and give you more bang for your buck from the other parts of your regimen! Women's Health magazine online has some of the best workout tips I've seen, so you can put together a routine that works for you. Pinterest has been sparking my fitness fever lately too - both with great recipes AND great workouts!

Working out is a daily thing but it's hard to accomplish the nexy day when you're sore! My advice is warming up before you work out :) put on your favorite song and get to moving :) that way when you work out, you won't be as prone to getting sore the next day, thus being able to workout more! :D

If you throw an apple in your smoothie you'll up your fruit intake and most likely will not even notice it. A great quick workout that doesn't take much time: Set the treadmill to 20 minutes, warm up for two minutes, up the speed to as fast as you can handle for 30 seconds, reduce to a light jog for 90 seconds, repeat 8 times, cool down 2 minutes. Done! It's only 20 minutes and you'll feel great!

Are you juicing or using a blender? With a blender, you keep the fiber, which helps SOOO much. I need to add more fruits and veggies into my diet too - I'm think green smoothies may be the way to go!

I have been trying to get back into exercising and think that alternating your workout activities is a great way to go! Keeps things interesting as well as working your body differently.

Since your not a big fruit person, try subsituting yogurt for fruit and add veggies to it! It's thick and filling so you can stay full and content longer!

Those are some awesome ideas! This motivates me to make more time to working out. I've tried yoga only twice before and I love it! &&don't forget to also mix up your workouts so they won't become boring. Also listening to music always helps.

I stopped drinking alot of stuff (alcohol, soda, tea) I also walk my kids to school everyday now, and a fun addition, I play Freeze Tag with my kids everyday now. Good Luck!

I have been on the Gold Coast Diet and it has really helped me. It is all whole grain and high omega 3's. You eat lots of veggies and fruit and lean meat. Pretty much eating healthy and you feel better too. It will help with inflamation in your body.
