8 Ways to Stay Cute Traveling

Thursday, June 14, 2012

I'm finally going away in a couple of weeks on an anniversary trip with the hubby to Puerto Rico (yay!) and can't wait for the airplane funk that comes with it...not.

Here are a few tips on how to stay pretty throughout a rough flight:

1. Drink tons of water! Not only will it help hydrate your skin, but it'll keep you awake and feeling fresh.

2. Moisturizer is essential in keeping skin hydrated. Bring lip balm as well as a small tube for your face, and for your body.

3. Under Eye Concealer & Highlighter: apply it right before leaving to plan to look fresh and awake for any destination.

4. Face Wipes: these are great for extremely long flights. Use one before sleeping and upon awakening to stay fresh and clean.

5. Purell and Emergen-C: being constricted on a plane for hours means being surrounded by germs with no way out! Keep Purell on hand and use every few hours to keep hands clean. A mix of water and Emergen-C will fill you up with vitamins keeping you healthy and strong so you don't catch a cold.

6. Highlighting Cream: trade foundation in for a highlighter when traveling. Skin tends to get really dull and a slight shimmer will make you look awake and alive.

7. Oil Blotting Sheets: For your skin, and your hair! I keep them with me even when I'm not traveling to avoid unwanted oil.

8. Lip Gloss: go for a pink hue- it'll brighten up your entire face in no time at all.

What are your tips for staying pretty on an airplane?

I love to use a light mist on my face while traveling. It keeps my skin hydrated, and adds a subtle (yet very pretty) just-scrubbed sheen. :)

Keep a pack of gum in your bag, not only to keep your breath fresh, but also to help your ears adjust.

Bring your small makeup items with you on board, if you can, like your gloss or lip balm, elf shine sheets, lip stick, translucent powder.

I carry baby wipes and face wipes....a quick freshen up really makes a difference in how you feel and look.

A lot of girls from asian countries will use face masks on the plane!to stay hydrated. They look funny, but when they get off the plane they almost always look fabulous! Great post, thanks for writing it!

I love my powder compact. I just dab a bit of pressed powder on before getting off the plane. This reduces the look of oil and redness.

I hate how my hair gets flat and static on a plane, so I like to have my hair up in a messy bun.

Gum is definitely an essential to have. Lately I've been loving DIY skincare and on my next trip I would probably indulge in a yogurt mask the night before so that my skin was smooth and hydrated on the plane.

KISS-- Keep it simple sweetie! Sleep is a must. Sleep before and nap during the plane ride. But during your "awake time" stay happy and positive. I know you're excited so you must be grinning from ear to ear. Keep that beautiful smile on your face!

Moisturizer is a definite must have. Also, comfy slip-on shoes are best for long flights.

I always have a small brush and hairspray in my bag to take care of static as I get off the plane. And unscented lotion is a must- Sat next to someone who had a scent on that I was allergic to, made for a very bad flight for me. Be considerate to your seat mates!

I like to make sure I put sunscreen on before I travel. That way, I don't accidentally get burnt because I'm too jetlagged to remember my SPF 45!

If you direct your air to right in front of your face, it will make it so you always have freshly recycled air and you will not be breathing other's germs. :) I started doing this after I saw a segment Dr. Oz did on it and I haven't gotten sick while flying since.

On short trips, I like to carry oil blotting sheets and a tinted lip balm. But on longer trips, I carry powder, highlight, concealer, and anything else I think I need :)

When I made my flight to Germany, I carried a light weight blanket because the plane can be cold. I can't stand to be cold on an 8 hour flight.

Subscreen if you are traveling by plane! The UV rays are at their highest when you are flying at that altitude!
