When you're thinking about what makeup to strut at the office tomorrow, you may want to consider the findings in this recent study from the PLoS ONE journal. Twenty-five women of various races, ages 20-50, were photographed in four looks: bare-faced, natural, professional and glamorous, from no makeup to a lot of makeup. (picture below) 

Of the 149 adults respondents (41% were men), the "professional" look was deemed the winner within seconds. The professional look was also the winner when 119 respondents were given unlimited time to examine the image. What does being the winner entail, you ask? It means the respondents thought that the professional look was the most likeable and made the woman look the most competent, as compared to the other looks. Another interesting insight is that, the "glamorous" look was thought to make the woman look untrustworthy.
