Minimize the Appearance of Pores!

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

Oh pores, just when you think they're gone for good, they're back in no time! Fret not ladies, here at e.l.f. we have the solution:

1. Cleanse: Pores appear larger on our skin when they're filled with dirt and oil. Clean out the culprit by cleansing before bed and when you wake up (try our Mineral Face Cleanser). Exfoliating will also do the trick, especially when concentrating on specific pore areas (nose, cheeks, and chin).

2. Moisturize: Moisturizer keeps oil at bay on the skin, which in turn keeps pores clean and small. Do not skip this step! Like I always say, even if you have oily skin there is a moisturizer out there for you.

3. Prime: Primer might just be the best invention since sliced bread. Whether you decide to wear foundation or not, primer will be your best friend. Primer is developed to combat against excess oil, enlarged pores and fine lines. The clear skin primer can be worn under foundation for long lasting makeup or even alone to fill in pores! (Try our Mineral Face Primer).

4. Powder: Using a High Definition Powder will set your primer into place, absorb any last bit of oil, and will create a flawless "soft focus" effect to the skin! High Definition Powder is also translucent so it will not change the color of your skin or foundation (Try our High Definition Powder).

What are YOUR tips and tricks to minimizing pores?

I love elf's face primer, it works just as great as others but for only $6! I also use a Rx strength retinol cream a couple nights a week. I haven't tried the high definition powder yet but based on the reviews looks like it would be worth a shot. Thanks for the tips!!

Elf's primer and high definition powder are awesome. They make a real difference in the appearance of your skin and the prices are great. I even mix the primer with a little concealer to cover under eye darkness.

I use a toner after I wash my face helps make the pores stay small. And weekly nose strips.

I have bad allergies, so during allergy season I always make sure to rinse off my face before bed, and I change the pillow case more frequently to avoid irritating my face (and pores!) with pollen. I also like to use a face mask once a week to keep my skin really healthy!

I have ALWAYS had large pores and I hate it! I have never been able to disguise this fact either so i basically just gave up! Due to my oily skin, which has subsided a bit since my HS years I was never one to wear foundation or even moisturizer! However products have changed over the past 30+ yrs n I'm sure there are great moisturizers on the market for oily/combo skin and I'm sure they come w a hefty price as well. I' going to take the tips 2 and 3 for a try as I already do 1 and 4. I must say that the ELF HD Powder does conceal them a tiny bit if I take the smallest amt possible on the puff that comes w the HD powder and press the powder into the area around my nose where my pores r the largest n then take my ELF powder brush n swipe away any excess very litely so I dont destroy what Ive just accomplished. Now that summer is basically over Im ready to give these addtn'l steps a whirl!! Thanks ELF!! Love you guys AND ur budget conscience products! They r great w/out paying the great big price cor them!!!

To minimize my pores, I use natural honey and egg whites. I It sounds disgusting, but it really works! Mix it into a paste, and wear it as a facial mask for 15 minutes. All the dirt from your pores actually comes up. Use it every day, once or twice a day!

Keep pores clean using a salicylic acid based cleanser and overnight treatment, a weekly mask that contains sulphur, charcoal and or kaolin. Then for makeup I use a primer and loose powder that's micro fine like High Definition loose powder

The primer is silky and makes a great base- the pump is a bit defective though. I also love the high def powder, it is also really silky- I apply it with the fan brush after all my make-up is on. It might look a little whitish at first, but quickly melts into the skin. I have sensitive skin so I exfoliate with a special cloth that is sort of micro-fiber and smooth, rather than use a scrubby exfoliating product.

I take a washcloth every once and a while and get warm (as hot as my skin can tolerate) water on it. Then i lay down with the cloth over my face for 5 minutes. the heat opens up my pores so i can clean them better. Then I use witch hazel and sometimes pore strips. All of this in conjunction works amazingly!
