Christina Fights Back

Thursday, October 04, 2012

For anyone that watches NBC's popular show, The Voice, it's clear that celebrity judge, Christina Aguilera, has some pretty strong opinions. While she is she taking Season 4 off to focus on her new alubm, Lotus (set for release on November 13th), she now turns her battle effort from Adam Levine to her label company.

Aguilera has had that blonde haired blue eyes look from the beginning, despite her Ecuadorian heritage, along with an extremely petite frame. While Christina's weight has long been a favored topic of the media, she's not at all ashamed of her new, voluptuous figure. She's been pressured to be "toothpick thin" for the majority of her music career, but now she's staying just the way she is. Her record company fought with her and called an "emergency meeting" about the need to maintain her skinny appearance during her Stripped (2002) and Back to Basics (2006) tours. But for her new album, Lotus, she is standing firm and told her label that her body weight was not up for discussion.

"I told them during this Lotus recording, 'You are working with a fat girl. Know it now and get over it," she said. "My body can't put anyone in jeopardy of not making money anymore--my body is just not on the table that way anymore. (Huffington Post

So far the label hasn't demanded she alter her appearance and her new album is set to release on November 13th. We're proud of Christina for sticking up for new full figure and we can't wait to hear the new songs!

What's your take on Christina's body image for her new album? Tell us!

I feel the same way she does. I was pencil thin in my teens and 20's but after two children, there is no way to go back to that. Why can't Christina be our modern-day Marilyn Monroe? I love curves and I love rockin' mine! You go Christina! I like you just the way you are!

I have always liked Christina. And now I admire her. Not every star or musician is skinny as a pole. She's a mommy. Her body has changed. And it's not like she's fat. She's curvy, which a lot of men find remarkably gorgeous. Good for her for setting a good example.

Firstly, it is DISGUSTING that the record company has the gall to consider that an issue. Makes me sick. Secondly, she looks beautiful! Everyone was pencil thin in their teens/high school, myself included. It's not realistic to maintain that as we get older. I am now in my mid-twenties and have gained about 20 lbs since high school, and couldn't be happier (neither could my boyfriend!). Good for her. Remember when music was about MUSIC...?

As a women who was severely overweight, I closely understand this is issue but I also understand that in any arena, we must always put our best forward and unfortunately, it is not just a matter of aesthetics. People view people that are overweight as unhealthy not "curvy" and since she has chosen to be in the public eye, I personally think she should be careful and present the healthiest image possible. Again, I speak from personal experience and I know for a fact that being overweight is not healthy, it is not being happy and it is certainly not even slightly attractive. Please, please don't shoot back at me with "being curvy (overweight) is a healthy image"...IT IS NOT!

I've always loved Christina and even more now. I admire her. In this day and age people usually don't feel great in their own skin, what with all the images in the media of what is suppose to be considered beautiful. Good for her! Plus we should focused on her music not her weight.

I say, you go girl, Christina! This new stance of her indicates, in my opinion, that she is taking charge of her life. She is a true beauty--inside and out, not to mention a gifted artist. I love, love to hear her laugh. My only suggestion is that she darken her hair a few shades.
