How to: HD Blush!

Friday, October 12, 2012

A lot of you guys must be wondering how to use our all new HD Blushes! They're super pigmented and may have scared you away, but we created his how-to 'pictorial' to help you guys out. Here's how:

Step 1: Pump out a really small amount onto the back of your hand. A little goes a VERY long way with this blush.

Step 2: Swirl your Small Stipple Brush in the HD Blush making sure to coat all the bristles.

Step 3: This sounds counter-productive, but wipe off most of the product on a clean spot on the back of your hand until the color is sheered down, and there is only a tiny amount left of product on the brush.

Step 4: Swirl the color onto the apples of the cheeks as you would with a cream blush. If at first it looks too bright, wipe some more product off the brush.

Sep 5: If you prefer to use your fingers, dip two fingers into the blush and wipe of most of it until you have a sheer amount on your fingers.

Step 6: Tap the color onto the cheeks while blending for a natural, flushed effect.

Step 7. Viola!

We also made a 'What Not To Do' pictorial for you guys because we knew this HD Blush would be tricky.

Step 1: DO NOT straight up dip your brush in a ton of product. (Wipe some off of your hand or on a paper towel)

Step 2: DO NOT then apply all of that product straight to your face. You'll end up angry, like Elle here.

Step 3: If your applying the blush with your fingers, DO NOT dip your finger and the product and apply it straight to your face. Wipe some off first!

I love Headliner! It is that perfect pink color for my complexion. I use my elf Studio Stipple Brush to stipple it on and blend it out very well. Blending is key to this product! :)

I just got the HD blush last week in Diva! This tutorial is so helpful! It's such a fun product and I love the how you can build the color. I normally wear it to work. :) I love the bold color of diva, but I'd love to try it in Superstar.

My favorite HD blush right now is Superstar. After trial and error as describd above, I figured out that the above method was the best way to apply the HD blush. I am very satisfied with the lasting wear of the HD blush. Good product. I also have Encore which I am looking forward to wear for the fall/winter as it sheers out to a great shade.

Absolurteely love the HD blushes. After applying the elf tinted moistureizer in nude I dot a little of the headliner or supertar on my cheek bones and blend with my fingers in an upward and outward motion.it stays on all day and doent sweat off either. Since I'm acne prone (in my 30s) the viitamin E helps to moisturize and treat rather that irritate and dry out my skin like powerdered blushes have always done. Looking forward to trying out soe of the other colors too. ;-)

This blush is SUPER pigmented, so I've actually been dotting about a quarter of a pump on the back of my hand, dropping on a dot of face moisturizer to make the product more emollient and blendable, then applying with a brush. I've never had issues with makeup lasting on my face, so I don't use a primer and my color in Diva is still on my face when I get home from work. I can't wait to try some of the lighter colors as my skin loses color throughout fall.

I would love to see a pictorial on how to use stipple brushes. In this one it just looks like you guys wanted to add it in there and get another product spotlighted. You probably could have done the same thing sans brush and been fine.

Can't wait for mine to come, so excited about it. And this was really helpful, or probably I would have done a mess with it in my cheeks.

I got this in Headliner. I love it. But why wouldn't you just pump out less product instead of wiping it off and wasting it?

I love this blush! I purchased Showstopper and Superstar. Luckily, I applied them correctly lol. They are über pigmented but that's what I love about them...I wonder if they could be applied to the lips with lipgloss? I love the color that much I'd do that lol

I like to apply it on my lips and cheeks for a natural look and also sometimes it's a little too pigmented for me so i wet my brush with a mixing medium or just water and apply it. :)

I forgot to add my fave color and way of using them: I love Diva and Headliner and using the stippling method truly is the way to go with these blushes!

Put a dab on my cheeks, blend in with fingertips, and then lightly smudge those fingertips on where the sun would catch me to give me a nice glow! :D

I am loving the "what not to do" portion - it's the raw truth on how not to use the product, which seems to be the most common way people have been using these blushes ;) GREAT tutorial!!

"Viola!" made my day :D Allow me to add one more: DO NOT spread it on your hand - it stains like hell, use a makeup palette or plate or corner of your mirror instead. DO NOT apply blush so close to nose and mouth - keep it more on the sides: draw imaginary lines down from your irises and from the tip of your nose and do not apply any blush further from those borders
