how to: NATURAL NYMPH Every Day Makeup

Monday, November 19, 2012

Here's a quick pictorial on how to get that all natural look. It's perfect for work, or even for a night out if you don't wear a lot of makeup in general. Round of applause for Ioana for donating her time and face for the sake of this pictorial. Here's how:

Step 1: Prime the lids with our Eyelid Primer so the eyeshadow lasts all day.

Step 2: Using our Eyeshadow 'C' Brush apply our Mineral Eye Brightener in 'Buff' to the lids.

Step 3: Highlight the inner corners of the eyes with the white shade in our Baked Eyeshadow Palette in 'NYC'.

Step 4: Using our Angled Contour Brush and our Mineral Pressed Eyeshadow in 'What's Your Name', define the crease and blend until there are no harsh lines.

Step 5: Line the eyes using our Cream Eyeliner in 'Black' to make the eyes really pop. Don't wing out the line to keep the look natural.

Step 6: Coat lashes with 2-3 coats of our Mineral Infused Mascara.

Step 7: Cover up any dark circles with our Complete Coverage Concealer for a bright-eyed effect.

Step 8: Apply our Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 for natural coverage with our Stipple Brush.

Step 9: Brighten up your complexion by applying our Blush in 'Twinkle Pink' to the apples of the cheeks and blend back for a natural flush.

Step 10: Apply our Mineral Lipstick in 'Fiery Fuchsia' to the lips with our Retractable Lip Brush.

Step 11: Finish off the look by filling in eyebrows with our Eyebrow Kit!

This doesn't look like a natural look at all it looks very made up. I would of done things differently. You have to take into account the models coloring and hair color. She has hazel eyes which also plays the role in this. Skin tone as well. The heavy liner and the blue and the color of the blush is the right coloring for this moddel. You want a natural look not a made up one. Elf has a variety of products that could of accomplished this but wasn't used. I think the blue and the heavey liner and the cheek color along with the lipstip contrasted and didn't enhance this model Foundation she should of used a color that didn't bring out the yellow. With Strawberry Blonde or Red hair there is enough yellow that refracts onto the face so you want to counter act that. Second the blush made the model look like she was just spattered with bronzer. For her face I would of went with Elf Blush that counter acted the yellow again the Twinkle Pink didn't do it you might of used a mauve but not heavy handly. As for the eyes. Elf has numerous eyeshadows for a natural look I would of went with what brought out her eyes. Her eye shape is a bit larger and the way the makeup was done it didn't make her look like she had enough lid space. I would of went with a soft bisque- ish more beige for the eye then a brown which I could blend. I would of only lined half of the upper lid. I would of taken the brown eyeshadow and smudge just a little on the lower lid to line. I then would of used Elf mini mascara in a black/brown shade for the eyelashes thus not making her overly done. As for the eye brows there is a elf kit that you could use or use the light brown eye makeup to enhance the brows, since she pulls yellow in skin tone the elf concealer kit has green and other shades to counteract problems I would use just a dab of the green and then a light concealer under the eyes but elf makes a concealer with shimmer to conceal dark circles and I would do that. For the cheeks I would of used as I sad a light mauve lightly. I would of put it on the bone structure . The nose, I would of used a liner pencil lightly and placed a light mark on each side to contour the nose which then you would put foundation or concealer to camafloge the marks. You want to tone down the nose. Everything would of been done light handedly because to put heavy makeup up on is defeating the natural look. She could of even forgone the 2nd eyeshadow for just one that could sweep the lids be it a lighter brown,to pink or peach medium. As for the lips the way it stands now her lips look parched. First I would used a elf pencil liner in as close to nude as I could find to match her shade of lip. I would of outlined the lip and instead of downward at the creases I would feather upward. Also I would shade in the lips a bit so that the color is on the lips but takes out some of the lip lines she has. Also good for this is the lip primer by elf prior to the liner you could put on the primer then line the lips. So the fine lines on either side would not look like she has a handlebar mustache going for her. Then I would take a elf gloss that is sheer with color they have those in the lip gloss and the hyper shine. I would then do the bottom lip then put my lips together because you don't need to do anymore. This is what I would of done for this model for a natural look. Also I probably wouldn't used the cream liner a pencil would of given just as much coverage an more convient. For another natural look Simply she could of forgone the tinted foundation. And simply concealed under eyes a bit. Choosen a blush that doesn't pull yellow out of her like a mauve or a little darker pink/rose and then simply used the liner and lipgloss pencil. And used a blue eyeliner pencil or brown and lined her eyes, used some lenghthening mascara and and called it a day. In any account for a nautral look you don't want harsh heavy makeup the model shown has harsh looking makeup.

I adore the uses of the eyeshadow palette, and this really inspires me to get it! I think I would prefer a thinner line for the eyeliner and I would rather do the eyeliner in brown, however all in all I love this tutorial! I think it is very inspiring to see how you use your own products and still allow them to be versatile enough that we can adapt them to fit our personalities perfectly!

Though I may have done it differently, I love Elf for its natural shades.. since I tend to like my makeup to bring out natural beauty, I am very picky about my eye products. I love that elf supplys makeup thay can be work subtly or with a more brave, dark effect. It helps that the prices are out of this world when you're a nursing student, as well!! Thanks, Elf! -Cyndle Louise

For a natural look I still have to use foundation to even my skin tone but I only use a bit of light brown eyeshadow, skip the liner, clear mascara, and tinted lip treatment. No blush!

For a natural day look I use your moisturizer with spf. Use concealer on any areas needed. A neutral eyeshadow such as a vanilla or peach must be matte. Elf HD power over the top. A tad of mascara on the outside corner of my lashes, nude lip, light bronzer on cheeks. I am also a redhead. I don't agree with all of the makeup artists choices. No to the eyeshadow choice and brown eyeliner vs the black. I on my monitor she is looking a tad 'orangey' to me.

I like to use bronzer as contour, use a bit of highlighter on my cheek bones, and create contour in my crease.

My problem used to be that I'd try a natural look but then put on tons of eyeliner which just swallowed my face. Now I use darker eyeshadows on an angled brush to line my eyes, and it looks so much better. I don't think me face holds heavy makeup looks well.

I agree with some of the other comments as to not as natural with some of the colors that were chosen. I would have used more earth tones on her lids given her hair and eye colors. Then maybe a nice gloss with hint of pink to draw attention up to her eyes but giving a finished touch.

Brown eyeliner on top outer 1/3 of eye over champagne eyeshadow--for my eyes, looks natural but emphasizes them. Elf natural matte lip color finishes the look!

It looks okay, but since I have a darker skin tone, all this would do to me is make me look way too done up. I prefer using a gold palette or a purple palette. The purple especially since that doesn't wash my complexion out too much. I feel that the model could also have used some more foundation to create a smoother look. The eyes look a little too 'done'. Again perhaps using a more skin toned palette would make it seem more effortless. Hoping ELF will come up with models of different ethnicity just to see what styles suit different skin tones and face shapes :)

I guess I'm very "old school." Back in my modeling and actress days, we put on eye makeup after our face makeup, including the concealer around the eyes. It's rather common to do it in reverse now it seems. I suppose it makes it easy to start over if you make an unfixable mistake. However, when I do makeup for others, I still do it "old school." Also, I find this look far too sparkly to be natural. Pretty? Yes. Natural? Not at all.

Still No Order shipped they are taking about two weeks to ship an order. They cannot keep up. It is questionable that if you order now if you will get it by Christmas. Order today packs in 7 business days. and ships to west coast and it will never make it. Save your Christams order somewhere else. They do not answer their phone to cancel, they say there phones are broken. For a week???? Sure I believe you. I am sending a registered letter to cancel my order and I am stopping payment on my CC. If you ship the product anyway, it will be your problem. BAD BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE RUNNN while you can.
