Ever hear that expression ‘You Are What You Eat’? Well it holds true when dealing with your skin. Eating good foods will result in beautiful, healthy, glowing skin.

Omega 3 fish oils and fatty acids are beneficial to the elasticity and collagen growth in your skin- think salmon, walnuts, almonds etc. Green tea also hydrates, is full of antioxidants, and will help improve elasticity. Vitamin C plays a huge role is giving your skin a healthy glow and keeping skin firm because it is chock full of antioxidants- so citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits are great, as well as kiwi, broccoli and cauliflower.

Foods with Vitamin A help our bodies produce retinol which speeds up the process of cell restoration leaving your skin with younger and smoother looking skin cells. Foods high in Vitamin A include sweet potatoes, carrots, apricots, butternut squash, cantaloupe, and kale (leafy greens). The upside is, if you eat a ton of orange foods you may develop a natural glow or fake tan ;)

Water is actually the #1 skin saver here. Staying hydrated is so important to keeping your skin clear, moisturized, and smooth. When you don’t drink enough your skin get dull, thirsty, and dry. That ain’t pretty. Drink up!

All of these foods will make your skin glow. Most supplements that really work, contain the elements found in these foods, but it is much better to get the elements from the whole food. The foods come with the correct proportions of fiber, protein and water that will benefit your body the most. Of course, drinking water has great benefits. Just think-all the money that you save on supplements by eating these whole foods on a regular basis will allow you, elfettes, to expand your make-up collection....and of course don't forget to get enough sleep. Avocado and salmon have always been a favorite skin saver, but sweet potatoes was a bit of a surprise. Walnuts are awesome too. My little sister has severe acne and no product she has used ever worked to keep her acne under control. My sister started to eat walnuts as a snack every day and her face cleared up it was amazing. Thanks for the article!

Personally, I love Greek yogurt! Chobani yogurt is awesome, especially with fruit on the bottom. Raw spinach is also really good in salad.

I've really made a commitment to eating better since last year for my health and I think it definitely has an affect on my skin. I love having a blueberry & banana parfait for breakfast and I always take my Omega-3s.
