Blood for Beauty?

KIMKARDASHIAN VIA INSTAGRAM

It may just be us, but pop culture's Vampire obsession may be going a little too far. On a recent episode of Kourtney and Kim take Miami, Kim goes to the Miami Institute for Age Management for a Vampire Facelift (trademarked by Dr. Charles Runels from Alabama), which goes a little something like this:

[The doctor] draws blood from the patient’s arm with a needle and separates the platelets into a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) using a centrifuge.

The plasma is then combined with Restylane or Juvederm, and then injected into the face to stimulate collagen production to create new skin and to remove fine lines and acne scars. (NY Daily News)

E! News

Supposedly played up for the cameras, Kim screams from the pain caused by the Dermapen, a device that uses nine tiny motorized needles to cause puncture wounds in the skin before applying the platelet-rich plasma mixture.

Makes you want to run straight to the spa to get one, right? Make sure you bring your checkbook! A procedure like this runs around $1200-1500 for a 45 minute treatment that will leave your skin looking younger for 4-6 months.

What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

For me, no. But, everyone wants to look and feel younger and whatever you want to do to achieve that, then more power to you. But, that is a but extreme for my tastes. Lol.

oh, HELL NO would I put myself through something like that...I'd rather have wrinkles and be proud of them! Of course, this IS Kim Kardashian who just proves that you can be filthy rich and still be stupid.

That is disgustingly gross, and a lot of pain to go through for something that isn't permanent. Seems like it would be unhealthy also.

No way!! This is just to much. Kim has to much money and to much time on her hands. There are so many other and better ways to get the same results. This is just to weird.

I almost unsubscribed because of getting this email. Please stop giving this trashy, no-talent idiot any more exposure than she already gets. And she's already exposed EVERYTHING. She makes me vomit.

I think that if your blood provided an individual with youth then he or she would not have to take it out of various areas of the body to re-inject the same into his or her face because the same blood is already flowing through his or her veins. What is the difference in having it already in your body or injecting it into your face. I think this is silly.

Gross and disgusting. We aren't made to look 20 forever. If you have that kind of money to do that to your face, better to make a donation to feed hungry people or buy some textbooks for kids who don't have any or help clean up someone's water supply. blech!

I personally would not do this, it seems like another gimmick to get people to spend money. I suppose if you are a millionaire you can spend money on anything. I wonder if this is done too often will it leave some scarring on the skin as it ages and gets thinner. I rather be a vegan, drink lots of water and get plenty of sleep. I sleep on my back -this reduces wrinkles on the face. because sleeping on the side promotes crows feet and deeper laugh lines.

Kim is only in her early 30s. I don't get it. I think with a good skim regime, not smoking or tanning, taking care of yourself.. you should be able to keep your skin youthful and healthy.
