Do or Don't: Orange Lips

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

Orange lips are a total DO! Celebrities have been rocking this bright lip all season long at the Golden Globes and MTV Movie Awards! This hue adds elegance and refined beauty to any nighttime look, plus it's the perfect alternative to the Winter berry lip. To successfully wear orange lips you have to apply with careful, precise application- we like to trace concealer around the edge of the lips for a crisp look. Try this daring look for yourself using our Matte Lip Color  in 'Coral' if you have a lighter skin tone, or 'Praline' if you have a darker skin tone. Not a fan of matte lips? Just apply our Essential Super Glossy Lip Shine in 'Honey Do' in Hoedhjskdj or our Mineral Lip Gloss  in 'Fierce'  to finish off your look. Our go-to product is our  Essential Lipstick  in 'Captivating' for a quick one step tangerine pout!

Will YOU rock the Orange lip this Spring/Summer?

I personally think that lip colors are made to enhance our natural colors, like light pink or red. Red can come off as a bright color, but it seems like the more natural option still. Lip glosses show off your natural color and lipsticks change your color to the eye of everyone else entirely. I will be rocking natural toned, shimmer glosses this summer; besides the occasional red lipstick for dinner out with the boyfriend!

I love it! I have always loved bright lipstick, red, pink, orange etc.. Lights up the face, and I do need that.

I will not be rocking the orange lip this summer. If you want to do an orangey color, try coral, which is a bit more natural looking than bright orange.

Orange lip color? Heck, yes! It is such a beautiful, bright, and happy color to wear. The shade can be warm or cool, so there is a color for everyone...it they want to be daring, and give it a try. I love to wear orange lipstick and then top it off with gloss...so nice!

I personally think it looks like they just drank kool-aid! When my kids lips are that color, I wash their face! It would be safe to say, I will not be wearing orange on my lips this summer.

I think you have to know your skin tone. Many don't look good in orange, like olive skin tones. Many women of color look fabulous in orange lips. I have pale skin, but warm undertones and corals, salmons, peaches, and yes even orange look good on me, but I can't wear any super intense colors. You have to know what you look good in. I am glad orange is 'in' because this means I will have more lip color options to choose from this season. I thin ELF carries far to many little girl pink colors. Not all of us look good in pink or cool reds.

As a Makeup Artist, as long as brights are chosen properly, the appropriate brightness for the skin tone, then all brights can be worn. Orange is becoming the new red trend and if its used properly then it can enhance a natural look.

I don't like orange lip colors. It looks too unnatural. The only picture above that looks good is Heidi. And I personally don't usually wear orange anything because I have red hair and lots of pink in my skin tone.

It's a beautiful look that offers a pop of bright color to a dull face. It's the new red with a trendy twist. I say go for it!

Yes I def will! Orange lips are the perfect pop of color for the summer! Most girls are probably as apprehensive about orange lipstick as when they dared to wear a red lippie for the first time. However, with proper consideration of skin color and tone while also keeping a neutral eye (notice the examples above), I know anyone can pull this great look!

I honestly think that "my lips but better" colours are my thing, and bold lips I find look weird on me,and other people. But it's their choose to wear it, but I find my lips draw less attention to me when I have the same colour of my lips but better, like nudes or pinks. :) Sometimes I go for sparkly lip glosses though, but maybe when I start to get older I will grow for reds or oranges. MAYBE. But for now, i'm sticking oh-naturalle.

I love orange lipstick! I wear it during any season, really. I think it's such a cool and bold color to try. It's unexpected, and orange is a color that, for me, represents my crazy and unique side. Different shades or hues work better with different skin tones, of course, but I always think it's worth a try!
