Cara's Eyebrow Secrets!

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

Supermodel, street style icon, and all-around it-girl Cara Delevingne is probably best known on the fashion runway for her one defining feature: The eyebrows that are quickly changing the world! With fashion being so dominated by pencil-thin, stark brows, it's refreshing to see this more natural look, which is still dramatic enough for the runway! So, what's Cara's secret? Brow pencil? Cream?

Cara shared that she inherited her famously dark, thick brows from her 101 year-old grandmother, herself a former magazine model! While Cara's brows may be inborn, anyone can spruce up their own brows too! Avoid over-thinning brows by plucking only stray hairs, and fill in using an eyebrow pencil a shade or two darker than your natural brow color to maintain a natural look.

We at e.l.f. are loving this trend towards thicker, darker, natural-looking brows! Which do you prefer: thick brows, or thin brows?

I prefer them thicker, but with more shape than this young lady has. The way she has them make her eyes look smaller. Of course her look would not look very good on us older ladies. Brooke Sheilds gave us permission many years ago to have thicker brows...

Although, almost any brow shape or thickness can look good when done correctly on the correct "pallette", I prefer thicker brows. I absolutely loved Audrey Hepburn's thick brows in the 1950s. So lovely! :)

I prefer the thicker brows, they make you look more youthful and sexy. Never gets old.

i have my brows in between thick and thin for me it's perfect not to thick and not to thin. and i hardly ever use an eye brow pencil my look fine all natural i did however dye them red when i dyed my hair red and everyone thought i was a natural redhead. but my natural color is slightly auburn.

I hate her overly made-up eyebrows. She may say she inherited them, but look at the picture. It looks like she filled them in with a magic marker. That may be a great look on the runway, but in real life--not so much. Between her brows and think eyeliner, it makes her eyes look smaller. I am a redhead and while my eyebrows are medium full and have a nice natural shape, they are pale, so I have to use something to make them show up better. It is hard to find the right shade. Browns are too dark and well, too brown. Blonde just doesn't cut it. I have had to resort to experimenting with eyeshadows to get the right color for me.

I like more natural looks and thicker brows reflect that. Most people aren't born with super thin brows. Eyebrows frame the face so they should be natural, but groomed.

I'm sorry, but her eyebrows look ridiculous. Thicker, more natural brows are very nice looking, however; these are exaggerated. I'm an ordinary person. And if I were spotted on the streets with this look, I would get so much criticism. But since she's a super model, of course, she gets commended.

Her eyebrows are ridiculous! They look as if a 6 year old drew them on her with a crayon.

C'mon she looks like something from a horror flick. Full eyebrows are great but hers are too dark for her complexion and hair color. For the person who referred to Audrey Hepburn's eyebrows being thick, if you remember, her eyebrows matched her hair color.

I love thicker brows! ...But not hers. My eyebrows are like someone else that mentioned between thick and thin. I keep them groomed but have never been comfortable with thinning them out. This girl looks like a hot mess though. Love her cute little face, adorable make up, etc. But those eyebrows need to be tamed, not thickened even more. (Like she or someone did with coloring them in.)

I think this falls under the fable of the king's new cloths. If Susie Home Maker was walking down the street with her brows like this she would get totally laughed at. Only because this woman is somewhat of celebrity status via modeling is she complemented. NATURAL means your brows match your hair! Let's be honest, her brows are lingering on the Neanderthal level. She totally hast the right to groom herself as she wishes but just because she is a model does not mean her choices are perfect. And yes I agree with the others that mentioned Hepburn and Shields. Both of those ladies kept their hair natural, matching their brows, and for me that was a far more fresh look than this.
