BACK
beauty how-to: EVENING EYES

Thursday, July 10, 2014

As they say— "the eyes are the windows to the soul," and these windows are flirty! I love using color to create a half-smoky effect because it can truly enhance the shape and beauty of your eyes. Did you know about e.l.f.'s AMAZING range of shadows and formulas? You just can't beat the quality and price on this look... it's a must try and is so much easier to create than you think!

STEP 1
Apply a
PRIMER to make sure all of your shadows stay on. Then pat on e.l.f. Essential Smudge Pot in "Pearls of Wisdom," using the "C" brush from the limited edition, LUXE BRUSH COLLECTION. This will create a strong, shimmering base over your lid! And c'mon... this look is a perfect excuse to use what’s inside of the clutch and then take it out for the night!

STEP 2
It’s our 10th BIRTHDAY...so of course I used the
Mineral Pressed Eyeshadow, in "Birthday Cake," over the entire lid. Again, just use your "C" brush to save time and create an even layer of color. This shadow has a sweet name and an even sweeter color!

STEP 3
Get creative with your makeup and use things for multiple purposes, like blush on the eyes. Try applying the
e.l.f. Studio Blush in "Pink Passion," in the crease of your eye to allow all of the colors to blend well. It will add a pretty pop of color under the deeper shades to come. Use the Angled Eye Brush from the clutch to apply.

STEP 4
Keeping with the mineral trend, I used
"Forest Frolic" and "Rockin Out" on the edge of the eyes. You can blend with the brush used in the previous step to allow the colors to mix well and save time! Begin with the lighter shade and then build up the corners of the eye with a darker shade.

STEP 5
At this point, define the eyes a bit more with some
e.l.f. Studio Precision Liner and then apply several, wet layers of Mascara

STEP 6
Finish off those gorgeous eyes with a bit of liner applied to your inner rim, on the lower part of your eye. I used a combination of the
e.l.f. Mineral Eye Liner's in "Metallic Purple" and "Black." Again, always start with the lighter color and then use the darker shade to define and add depth. Be generous with the lighter color!

ARTIST TIP
Ladies with mature skin who want some drama in the eyes- keep your shadows matte to avoid making texture look worse!

xoxo
Sonia
