beauty how-to: SUNSET EYES

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Summer is almost over elfettes! It makes me sad! So I thought we should get our eyes packed full of sunset colors that remind us of this gorgeous weather and the beautiful sky. E.l.f. Cosmetics has so many sweet shades of eyeshadow and it was so hard to choose! Luckily I found an all-in-one Beauty Book, in "cool," to use for the shadows.

To keep your look on as long as possible, apply the e.l.f. Essential Eyelid Primer all over the lids and up to the brow. It has a light, skin-tone finish that can work under any color. Apply using the applicator and blend with the finger.

Using the e.l.f. Studio Lock and Seal, wet the bristles of the brush and pick up a golden shade from the Beauty Book. Pat the shadow on like a cream and it will become a "foiled" finish! You can use lock and seal with any metallic or satin shadows for easy application.

Now lets focus on blending in color. Pick up a light, lavender shade from the Beauty Book and gently begin to sweep into the crease. I used the Angled Studio Contour Brush for eye. This brush is great for deep set eyes— It applied color to the crease with ease.

The edge of the eye really makes this look pop! Pick up a deep purple or navy blue, (or both like I did), and begin to blend that deeper shade into a "V" shape at the edge of your lid. Using the e.l.f. Essential Eye Defining Brush, blend in the color. Layer as needed for more drama.

Apply a liner you love. I always love a line of liquid in black to complete the eyes, but feel free to substitute with a color to your liking! I've used the e.l.f. Studio Precision Liquid Liner. Pick your favorite e.l.f. Mascara and coat the lashes as desired. My favs are the Studio 3-in-one and the Essential Volumizing Mascara

This step is optional, but really helps to complete the eyes! Apply a purple shadow from the beauty book to your lower lash-line, OR use the e.l.f. Studio Eyeliner and Shadow Stick in Plum/Purple. I used BOTH for different shading and dimension. The Liner underneath, with the eyeshadow on top helps to secure your color and add vibrancy.

Try this look and let me know how it goes!
