how to: HUNTER GREEN HALF MOONS
how to: HUNTER GREEN HALF MOONS
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 01, 2012

Hey elfettes! This months color crush is hunter green! We thought it would be perfect to feature one of our new nail polish colors from our brand new holiday Nail Cube! The hunter green is the perfect hue and is super pigmented. We paired the look with our nail polish in 'Desert Haze'. Here's how:

Step 1: Apply one coat of our Nail Polish in 'Desert Haze' to the nails. Don't worry if it's a little sheer, you're only going to see the top part of the nail anyway.

Step 2: Drop a bit of the Hunter Green Polish on a piece of paper and dip in your Angled Eyeliner Brush.

Step 3: Trace out the half moon shape on your nails with the hunter green polish.

Step 4: Fill in the nails' bottom half with the hunter green Nail Polish.

Step 5: Finish with a clear topcoat and you're good to go!

How easy was that?

Patti, contributing elfette

Holidays are Sneaking Up Fast
Holidays are Sneaking Up Fast
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 05, 2009

Prior to Halloween I was at Target and they had Christmas stuff, yes Christmas stuff! It’s hard to believe that the holidays will be here before we know it.  Another thing Target recently started carrying is e.l.f. cosmetics!  This value brand is at the same low price points as online without having to pay shipping!  I am all about getting quality products at super low prices!
Do you ever find yourself in a pinch for a quick gift for the dance teacher, piano teacher, mailwoman, grab bag, and so on?  Why not give them e.l.f. from Target!  Stock up on neutral shades of lip gloss, nail polish, eye shadow and mascara, buy a 12 pack of small gift bags for $1.99 and you can have a great gift for under $5! Some of my picks are the Brightening Eye Color in Nouveau Neutrals, Hypershine Gloss in Honey and Coral  Nail Polish .   I can’t wait to put my bags together for everyone on my list, who doesn’t love some pampering with new make-up.  I am also hoping to introduce e.l.f. to some people who may not know about them yet, I’m sure once I do they will love it as much as I do.

Have you tried e.l.f.?  What are your favorite shades?

Glamming it Up with Metallic Nails
Glamming it Up with Metallic Nails
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2009

I know Minx nail art coverings are all the rage right now, but I personally can't get to the salon every 2-3 weeks. Besides, everyone I know who has gotten them says they really start to peel off after a week or so, especially if you do a lot with your hands and are hard on your nails. At $35-$55 a pop, that really adds up. Since I am so busy, I go for a monthly mani/pedi and then do my own polish changes in between. To me there is something relaxing about painting my own nails. I actually enjoy it. However, when I saw some of the metallic Minx options, I was in love.

Now I know metallic polish has been trendy for over a year, but it's back again for Fall '09 which is great news for us late adapters. Keep in mind the metallic nail should not be too long. A shorter nail works best.

So I decided to find the perfect metallic nail color...for me. What I discovered was a whole new world of chic and interesting options.

Personal favorite and the one I wear all the time is Essie's silver Steel-ing the Scene

Others are:

Essie's Gold, OPI's Curry Dont Be Late, Lippmann Collection's Marquee Moon, Sephora's Metallic Nail Polish Collection, Revlon's Silver Screen 918, Rescue Beauty Lounge's Look Rich be Cheap.
