Winter Hair Help!
Winter Hair Help!
MONDAY, MAY 17, 2010

I’m already pulling my hair out at how winter’s wreaking havoc on my hair…and spring’s nowhere in sight. Static? Please, let’s not even talk about it. I have thin, fine hair. Some days, there’s so much static, it’s a wonder I don’t find all those missing socks from the  laundry stuck to my head. (Wait. Let, me check. Phew! Nope… no socks.  At least not today!) Still, the static –and those fly-aways make me crazy. You ladies with thin hair know what I’m talking about. Our hair takes on a life of its own in winter. Maybe we can form a support group or something.  Oh, and then there’s hat-head. On super cold days, an oh-so-fashionable chapeau is great while you’re traveling TO work or shopping or wherever. It’s the ‘what happens when you get there’ that’s a nightmare. I’ve literally had people look at me with pity when the hat comes off. Let’s say I give ‘flat’ a whole new meaning. So, what’s a girl to do? GALTime.com style mavens Kerri Winick and Andrea Krivelow from CelebutanteSisters.com uncovered some hair-raising solutions for all of us from two celebrity stylists.

Summer Hair
Summer Hair
TUESDAY, MAY 04, 2010

We had the chance to sit down and discuss hair color with Ala Israel of Amoy Couture Salon. Ala states that in order to have a perfect summer color set in properly, we must first start healthy from the basics. Deep conditioning is key to restoring moisture and shine to colored hair and this will allow from the natural hair color to blend in.  Ala also states that the water we use on our hair is just as important as the products we use. Installing a water filter in our shower will keep our hair from becoming dull with the rust that is found in water pipes.

Also, for the summer, wetting out hair with bottled spring water helps us shield it from all of the harsh chemicals found in swimming pools. Starting from the basics is very important in having perfect color and hair for the summer. We need to keep the shine in our hair without over-drying it.

What is your summer hair look? Share any tips you may have for maintaining that perfect summer look.

Oscar Night Hairstyles
Oscar Night Hairstyles
SATURDAY, MARCH 13, 2010

Do you think that updo’s are classier than wearing your hair down?

At this year’s Oscars many starlets dared to wear their locks down, and for many of them that scored them best hair recognition. Sandra Bullock wore her hair down in a deepside part, drifting away completely from the usual pulled back updo.

Others, like Tina Fey, Jennifer Lopez, and Anna Kendrick decided to go with a nontraditional updo. Tina Fey had a half-up style that was wavy and truly beautiful. Jennifer Lopez dared to sport a messy bun style with some bright blonde streaks. Anna Kendrick wore her hair up, but had loose waves coming down from the front.

Some stars used their hair to compliment their bold makeup choices, and if you ask me, hair and makeup have to come in perfect harmony. Cameron Diaz’s blonde hair was parted into soft-swept waves that complimented her bright red-orange lipstick. Queen Latifah chose a sleek updo that made everyone’s eyes focus directly on her smoky eyes and flawless skin.

I personally love the waves that Cameron Diaz wore down but all of these women looked absolutely gorgeous in their unique hairstyle choice and in many cases the hair pulled the complete look together.

Who sported your favorite hair look on the red carpet? Was it a traditional do or a nontraditional one? I’m excited to hear what you think!
