Sulfer
SulferWEDNESDAY, MARCH 09, 2011 If you suffer from acne, cystic acne, or pimples, you should be very familiar with the correct way to hide your blemishes. Look for makeup with blemish-fighting properties and when you’re not covering up, you should treat. At the top of your shopping list should be topical treatment products containing sulfur. Sulfur absorbs quickly into the skin and won’t cause any irritation or redness. It usually works as fast, if not faster than other ingredients more common for anti-acne. Sulfur is also great because it layers with makeup, moisturizers, and pretty much anything else you put on top of it without any peeling. In general, products with 4% to 8% sulfur are the best for your skin. You can also mix sulfur treatment products with your daily moisturizer to add an extra bit of help to your daily routine and apply your makeup on top. Your makeup will look great, you won’t have any flaking, and you’ll be treating your skin all at the same time.

Problem: Pillow Acne
Problem: Pillow AcneWEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 02, 2009 Problem: Pillow Acne. Yes it’s true. If you don’t take off your make-up or cleanse your skin thoroughly before bed, you could experience breakouts. Solution: Use only cotton fiber sheets. Cotton fibers help to soak up excess oil and debris that can be left behind by other linen fabrics. Flip your pillow every other night and spray anti-bacterial spray (for skin) are great to be use opposite the side you are sleeping on (so it has time to work). Diet and Skincare Correlation
Diet and Skincare CorrelationWEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2009 Have you ever thought about tweaking and enhancing your diet to address common skincare and beauty woes such as acne, rosacea, or dryness?
Anti-Inflammatory foods can actually help the look of swollen and red areas of the skin.Walnuts, walnuts, flaxseed, and olive oil are all foods that contain high amounts of omega 3’s which are powerful anti-inflammatory agents.
Recent studies link dairy products with mild to severe cases of acne. If you’re an acne sufferer, it may be time to switch to soy. You can also add more calcium to your diet through leafy greens and beans. Selenium is another super-food your skin needs to thrive. Whole wheat breads, turkey, tuna and brazil nuts are all great sources of selenium. Although everyone knows water is needed for beautiful skin, not everyone knows how much they should drink. A half-gallon/8 glasses a day is a minimum that everyone should be drinking. You can add extra benefits to your water by adding crushed vitamins and dissolving them before drinking. This will make the vitamins bio-available, and your skin will show the benefits. Diet foods shouldn’t be just about what you take in, but what you put on. I always encourage my celebrity clients to look for products with naturally derived ingredients. You can do this on the cheap at home with an easy skin-polishing slough: mix 3/4 cup dry oatmeal with ½ cup honey. Rub on face and body for a few minutes and rinse off in the shower. You’re skin will glow and your wallet will shine!
