Makeup Sponges
Makeup SpongesWEDNESDAY, MARCH 16, 2011 If you have a choice between using a sponge or your fingers to apply your makeup, sponges are better because fingers that haven’t been properly cleansed with good old fashioned soap and water can transfer bacteria, oils, and other free radicals a lot quicker than sponges will. However, when it comes to sponges a lot of women make a very common mistake and use the same one over and over until all of the “clean” sides are used up. They'll continue to dip it back into their concealer every day until all the surfaces are utilized. Yuck! The truth is, after you use a sponge once, the next time you go to use another side for an application, the formulation and the bacteria has already leaked through and tainted the other surface you haven't used yet. So you need to throw it away as soon as you're done using it once to avoid contaminating your skin.

Change your loofah
Change your loofahFRIDAY, JUNE 18, 2010 Do you know that you could be washing yourself with mold and bacteria? It’s important to switch out your loofah every 3-4 weeks to prevent bacteria and mold growth which can cause rashes like folliculitis which is an infection of the hair follicles (you should toss a synthetic mesh bath pouf, which is more resistant to bacteria, after eight weeks). To keep your bath sponge lasting longer make sure to ring out the sponge of any excess water and hang in a ventilated area, you can also soak the sponge in bleach regularly to kill bacteria. By regularly cleaning and replacing your bath sponge you can keep germs from spreading in your bathroom and on your body! ![]() {Achelle is the Creative Director, Brand Ambassador and official Makeup Artist for e.l.f. cosmetics}

The 101 on Matte Eyeshadow!
The 101 on Matte Eyeshadow!MONDAY, JUNE 07, 2010 Everyone is always asking me questions about matte eyeshadow so I thought I would give you all a little 101 on matte eyeshadow. -Matte eyeshadow is color that is flat without anytime of light reflectors, shimmer, glitter, etc.
-Matte eyeshadow is great for those looking for highly pigmented color!
-Matte eyeshadow is great when used as a base or as a highlighter for concentrated color.
-Matte eyeshadow is ideal for aged skin because unlike shimmer or glitter eyeshadows that settle into small wrinkles and highlight aged areas, matte color just smoothes over.
e.l.f. has a variety of matte colors available, especially in our Mineral Eyeshadows! Try one today and see what you think! Do you prefer matte eyeshadow or shimmer?
