Zoey's Spring Smoky Eye!
Zoey's Spring Smoky Eye!
TUESDAY, MAY 06, 2014

Getting dramatic makeup just right for spring, when everything is meant to be all dewy and fresh, can be a challenge. While we loved this fresh-faced red carpet look we saw last week, dramatic makeup is a red carpet staple. That's why we LOVED Zoey Deutch's recent red carpet smoky eye. This look amps up the drama, while keeping it toally springy and fresh.

Zoey just opted for one bright eyeshadow color, a strong trend you know we LOVE here at e.l.f. Her dewy skin, pale lip, natural brows, and lack of eyeliner make this look flirty and fresh, giving the red carpet drama without overwhelming. Just a few coats of mascara, to provide fabulously flirty lashes, is all the finishing touch you need!

Would you try a smoky eye for spring?

Sara

Makeup Sponges
Makeup Sponges
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16, 2011

If you have a choice between using a sponge or your fingers to apply your makeup, sponges are better because fingers that haven’t been properly cleansed with good old fashioned soap and water can transfer bacteria, oils, and other free radicals a lot quicker than sponges will. However, when it comes to sponges a lot of women make a very common mistake and use the same one over and over until all of the “clean” sides are used up. They'll continue to dip it back into their concealer every day until all the surfaces are utilized. Yuck!

The truth is, after you use a sponge once, the next time you go to use another side for an application, the formulation and the bacteria has already leaked through and tainted the other surface you haven't used yet. So you need to throw it away as soon as you're done using it once to avoid contaminating your skin.

Alpine Strawberry

Crushed alpine strawberries and baking soda helps remove stains from and whiten teeth. Leaves from the alpine strawberry plant contain large amounts of vitamin C; adding them to herbal teas for flavor makes them more palatable. Juice from the fruits also gets used to lighten or bleach age or liver spots on the skin.

Change your loofah
Change your loofah
FRIDAY, JUNE 18, 2010

Do you know that you could be washing yourself with mold and bacteria? It’s important to switch out your loofah every 3-4 weeks to prevent bacteria and mold growth which can cause rashes like folliculitis which is an infection of the hair follicles (you should toss a synthetic mesh bath pouf, which is more resistant to bacteria, after eight weeks). To keep your bath sponge lasting longer make sure to ring out the sponge of any excess water and hang in a ventilated area, you can also soak the sponge in bleach regularly to kill bacteria.   By regularly cleaning and replacing your bath sponge you can keep germs from spreading in your bathroom and on your body!
