Are Ponytails the New Black?
Are Ponytails the New Black?
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2009

I ate dinner recently at a very trendy new restaurant in New York City with a couple of girlfriends. The bar was packed and we had a long wait for our table. My two friends are divorced and were looking around at the men. And I couldn’t help noticing the women. Tons of women wearing ponytails out for dinner! This was surprising. I wear my hair in a ponytail for exactly two occasions: to exercise and to go to sleep at night after I have blow dried my hair. I would never dream of wearing my hair pulled back to go out at night. But the women looked great and were sporting their ponytails in all different ways. The looks ranged from older women with shorter hair severely pulled back with only an elastic holding it together; to twenty-somethings with messy ponytails carelessly tied up with a clip; to the more carefully done looks with the ponytail holder fastened perfectly at the nape of the neck.
Most looked sexy and gorgeous and it made me want to try it for myself which I will once I get down a technique that looks ready for a night out instead of a morning at Spin class.
Have you worn your hair in a ponytail to go out at night? Is it because you didn’t have time to do your hair or because you love the look? Any tips on how to make one that looks fantastic?

Finding Your Personal Soduko
Finding Your Personal Soduko
MONDAY, JULY 27, 2009

I've never got into Sudoku but I know so many people who have. I think the main reason it appeals to many is the opportunity to switch off,
to forget about what you have been doing and focus on something completely different. Not to mention that it seems like a good brain exercise.
Being a business owner, I do make sure I always keep busy with activities and events not related to by business.

I decided to learn how to sail and joined the Manhattan Sailing Club. I immediately got the bug  - I love how detached from the reality and relaxed sailing makes me feel.
Recently, I also got a new camera, Nikon D90 and started taking photos. I call all these fun activities, so different from what I do for a living, my "personal Sudoku" - whether I sail or take photos, my brain just relaxes and recharges. It's getting ready for all the daily challenges of running a business.

How about you, do you have a personal Sudoku? (and no, watching TV doesn't count) - whether it is refreshing your tennis skills or getting a pair of rollerblades, starting to run or learning something new - new language, creative writing or how to apply makeup, find your "personal Sudoku" this summer.

When not working, Anna loves hanging out with friends and taking advantage of all the things New York.  Her new passions are sailing and photography.
