How-to: Eye Enhancing Eyeshadow for Hazel Eyes!
How-to: Eye Enhancing Eyeshadow for Hazel Eyes!THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2012 Check out how our guest blogger, Rachel, got these gorgeous eye looks!! These Eye Enhancing Eyeshadow palettes are really fun. The color combinations aren't something I would have ever put together on my own. Pink, Purple and Blue are my all time favorite colors. Why haven't I put them together on my eye before now?! I've honestly never had Blue, Green or Purple on my eye before today. I have to say, I kinda like it. I actually really like the green look on me. The pigmentation on these were good. I used a dab of water on my brushes to make the colors stand out a little more. I used to never like the color of my eye. I always was frustrated because I didn't have completely brown eyes or completely green eyes or completely blue eyes. I had weird colored eyes with flecks of orange and gold. All of my friends were blond haired and blue eyed. I looked nothing like any of them. As I've gotten older I've really come to love the color of my eyes. Plus, Kelly Clarkson gave us hazel eyed girls some street cred. I think these colors really do a nice job of complementing and making my hazel eyes stand out. The shadows were nice and soft. They blended well and had a little fall out, which I think is normal. You can get 36 eye looks out of this palette. You can't beat that! Onto the swatching and eye looks!
Eye Look from Hazel Eyes 1: 1. Sweep the light pink shade all over your lid until you reach your crease with the Studio Eyeshadow "C" brush 2. Take the purple and put it into your crease and up onto your brow bone. Bring it down slightly onto the pink. I used the Essential Defining Eye brush to apply the purple 3. Take the navy blue and add it to the outer edge of your crease and bring it down slightly onto your upper lash line. I used the Studio Small Precision brush, because I wasn't sure how much navy blue I wanted it add. I could control the width of the navy blue better with that brush 4. Take your Flat Eyeliner brush and dab the navy blue onto your upper lash line as your eyeliner 5. Use your Flat Eyeliner brush with the purple color to line the lower lash line 6. I used e.l.f.'s Mascara Primer and let that dry for about 30 seconds and then I added my 3-in-1 Mascara! 7. Dunzo!
Onto palette #2 for Hazel (and green) eyes!
Eye Look from Hazel Eyes 2: 1. Use the very first glittery taupe color and use your Eyeshadow "C" brush to apply it all over your lid until you get to your crease 2. Take your green color and apply it to your crease with the Defining Eye brush 3. Take the 3rd color in the palette, the lighter taupe, and put that right in between the green and the dark taupe to blend the colors together and to help the transition not be so apparent 4. Take the same color and blend it above to green very, very slightly to make the edge of the green blend in better 5. Take your Flat Eyeliner brush and use the green to line both the upper and lower lash lines 6. Add your Mascara Primer and mascara! 7. Gorgeous!
What do you guys think? Which colors do you use to enhance your natural eye color?!

Matte EyeshadowWEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2011 Ever wondered what the benefits of matte eyeshadow are? Well, e.l.f. just came out with a whole line of studio matte eyeshadows!! The pigment-rich color delivers a vibrant effect while minimizing fine lines (shimmer shadows fall into the small crevices of wrinkles which accentuate and make them appear larger). The creamy soft texture blends in evenly for an all over matte look. This eyeshadow provides long lasting coverage and brilliant payoff for maximum performance. Perfect for wearing alone, contouring or using as a setting powder. Not to mention for $3 you get a Brush that’s included! To use, just apply all over the eyelid with an eyeshadow applicator or brush. You can wear alone or blend in with other shades for desired makeup effect. Have you tried matte eyeshadow?![]()

The 101 on Matte Eyeshadow!
The 101 on Matte Eyeshadow!MONDAY, JUNE 07, 2010 Everyone is always asking me questions about matte eyeshadow so I thought I would give you all a little 101 on matte eyeshadow. -Matte eyeshadow is color that is flat without anytime of light reflectors, shimmer, glitter, etc.
-Matte eyeshadow is great for those looking for highly pigmented color!
-Matte eyeshadow is great when used as a base or as a highlighter for concentrated color.
-Matte eyeshadow is ideal for aged skin because unlike shimmer or glitter eyeshadows that settle into small wrinkles and highlight aged areas, matte color just smoothes over.
e.l.f. has a variety of matte colors available, especially in our Mineral Eyeshadows! Try one today and see what you think! Do you prefer matte eyeshadow or shimmer?
