Go Glam in Grey
Go Glam in GreySATURDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2009 I’m already stressing out about the holidays. Decorations up? Got that one covered. Holiday cards ordered? Oops! Not yet. Presents bought? Hhhmm…not sure how I’ll ever motor through the entire list. Whatever. What I’m really worried about: What will I wear? I’ve started canvassing my closet, admittedly seeing what will fit. (Darn, why didn’t I lose those 10 pounds in October and November?!) No worries, I’ll turn to the good ‘ol standby… my little black dress, right?? NO??!! Apparently not. According to the GALTime.com style experts from Celebutante Sisters, it’s no longer about the LBD, or little black dress. No, ladies. This year, you should be glammin’ it up in grey! Want some style tips on how to pull it off, no matter what your style? READ this… Charlene Bert and Susan Krivelow are co-founders of GALTime.com. Glossing Over the Holidays
Glossing Over the HolidaysTHURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2009 You may think of ornaments, trees and family gatherings. But when I think of the holidays, I think: lip gloss. Every year I look forward to the holiday season as my chance to stock up on the stuff. I’m a bit of a lip gloss freak. A collector. A connoisseur. As such I enjoy a nice melon flavored balm in the heat of summer. But it’s the winter glosses that I want to snuggle with up for a nice cozy snogfest. For starters there is the palette. No wimpy shades here. In the washed out grey of winter we’re all thirsting for color. Reds, burgundies, browns, purples. Frosty or a sheer stain, the pots, tubes, and tins at every checkout register catch my eye. It’s not just the colors that make my mouth water. The scents and flavors of winter glosses are almost as rich as the holiday treats that threaten to adhere to my thighs. You know the phrase “A moment on the lips, forever on the hips?” Well… this does not apply to lip gloss. And so I indulge. I indulge in pumpkin lattes and peppermint sticks, snickerdoodles, and cinnamon buns. How can I resist the allure of sugar plums and hot cocoa that won’t make me gain an ounce? I’m not sure who invented the tradition of stuffing stockings with lip gloss. I just know one thing: I could kiss them! Holiday Trends by The Makeup Room
Holiday Trends by The Makeup RoomTUESDAY, DECEMBER 08, 2009 OK, I've done the research, checked out the clothing racks, combed makeup counters and came up with yet another perfect black dress, dark hose, and 3" pumps. Now it’s time to dazzle my boyfriend with my makeup, and feel great because I look great! And what’s my makeup secret tool? Palettes! Love holiday palettes! There's a plethora of colors and textures to choose from in shimmer, glimmer, frosty ice, and matte. Each has its own magical story, with soft light blues, lots of bronze, gold, silver and matte dark shades to create a smoky eye. Use black pencils for liner and set it with dark shadows either in brown, black, deep blue, bronze, purple or green... whatever works for the color scheme of choice. Try a bright eye, sultry and imaginative, with an addition of extra mascara and fake lashes on the top lashline. When it comes to lashes, they are still hot in spectacular colors, with glitter, sequins, and feathers adorning your lids and making application easy with cool applicators that hold the entire lash allowing you to press right into your (already lined) lash line. Your lips? Red, baby red! In matte, satins, creams and glosses. If your skin has a red undertone, use a berry red. Complexions with yellow undertone may look better with a bronze red or a fire engine red tone. Hint: add a drop of powder to the lips. Apply lipstick and blot. Then add another coat of lip color. Speaking of reds, with my light skin and red undertone even with auburn hair a berry red looks best. So, what are you wearing and how are you going to pull it off with makeup for the holidays? Send your ideas and take a picture! READ MORE... ![]() RECENT COMMENT "Very helpful information! Thanks :)..." ![]() 2 COMMENTS ![]() ADD A COMMENT TELL A FRIEND PRINT THIS

Christmas Customer Nightmares
Christmas Customer NightmaresTUESDAY, DECEMBER 01, 2009 Last month I talked about crazy in-laws at Thanksgiving. Now lemme tell you about unappealing customers at Christmas. I worked in the lingerie section of a major department store on Christmas Eve. We had the standard bras, underwear, nightgowns and robes, but in the back was a tacky little rack filled with icky scratchy underthings that just looked so uncomfortable that OF COURSE you would immediately want them off your body to save you from the chafing. They were in the colors of "I will rub off on your skin red," "I will dye all your laundry black," and "I will yellow by next week white." This rather rough, unsavory looking character comes up to the register with one of these items in his hand. You know the type, the guy who thinks yelling out his rusty truck window, "Hey hos" is a great pick up line. I start ringing it up, one eye on the clock that was counting down the last 15 minutes of the shift when his words broke through: "Ah though' 'bout buyin' two o' these." I really didn't have any reply. "This'n mahght git all tore up." And I REALLY didn't have any reply! What would YOU do if someone gave you lingerie like this for a present?
