I love most e.l.f. products, but was very disappointed in this. I bought mystic moss and tropical teal. Right away I noticed the teal was just an average green, a little bit of a let-down, but no big deal. When I tried to use the product I was dumbfounded by how washed out the color was. For a product called "pigment eyeshadow," I was expecting dramatic color, but it turned out to be the most poorly pigmented eyeshadow I have ever used. You can barely see it at all. I'm not accustomed to expensive brands either. If you use a really sticky primer, it has a nice effect, but if not, it is pretty much useless.

I LOVE e.l.f. cosmetics eye shadows but until today, I never ventured beyond using them from palettes. I am not a huge loose pigment girl but since my first visit to a MAC store, I decided I might as well see how these work.

As the title suggests, I bought two Studio Pigment Eyeshadows in Golden Goddess and Tropical Teal. My first swatch of Golden Goddess had me falling in love with the product. Just a little glitz on my hand without a primer had me scrambling to unwrap Tropical teal to see how it measured up. Tropical Teal barely showed up on my pasty white hands so I moved on to my primer to see how well I could get it to show before I deemed it a complete waste of my time.

With my Mac painterly pot primer, these pigments work wonders in color. Gold and teal seem to be uncontainable in their shimmery glamour. They are gorgeous and go well with many of my other shadows. They blend if you know how and I absolutely love the packaging they came in.

Saying that I loved the packaging does not seem to cover it all. The outer box I purchased it in was a flimsy cardboard thing that made my life difficult with all of its bent over flaps that apparently required some sort of password to release the prize inside. Once that foe was vanquished, however, I could not get enough of what this shadow was kept in. The gorgeous colors were housed in their own little glass and plastic square jars that make me want to buy more shadows just to have a bigger collection of the containers. Many reviews I read for this product said how hard it was to close these little devious creatures but I find a soft touch is the best way to coax them into doing what you want. I other words, if you do not try to force the buggers closed, they will close, just go gently and screw them on straight. That being said there is more to this package than just the shadow pot. Yes, there is a BRUSH applicator that had me dancing for joy because this is another makeup lover who hates sponge eye shadow applicators. These brushes are tiny to say the very least. I am quite new to the brush world but they are not even close to the best I have seen but do not mistake me, they get the job done. I would even recommend them for detail work such as lining the eyes.

Warning: If you tend to touch your eyes throughout the day, the pigment will get all over the place even if you use a good primer. You can try dabbing them with tissue to remove excess powder but I do not find this a problem for me unless I sleep with them on. Also, if you have trouble with fall out, try tapping the brush on the side of the pot, it may knock a lot of the pigment back off but you can always build it up slowly and avoid a hassle this way.

So as an overview, the pigmentation does not pay off without a good primer. Once on with a primer, this product will have a hell of a time disappearing. These cases look professional and can survive me dropping them on the tile floor of my bathroom at least once (Sorry Tropical Teal). And the two I got are super sparkly upon application but may lose that shimmer depending of the harshness of weather conditions.

I ordered 'innocent ivory' because it looked really white and sparkly, which I normally use, however I received a nude coloured shadow, which I was okay with. The container was difficult to open, the brush was absolutely useless, you have to use a lot to make it even show up slightly, and it's so pigmented it was basically straight purple sparkles.

If I wanted purple, I would have ordered purple.

I got this in Golden Goddess and it's really great! It's perfect for an accent color or just by itself. I will definitely be buying more in the near future!

I purchased two golden goddess and baked brown. i thought the colors were real pretty but way to shimmery. There was also a on of fallout. but other than that great if you're into all the shimmery. should have stuck with matte.

I had bought tropical teal thinking it was a bright blue aquamarine color but its a dark teal color. I was hoping for a bright color like the swatch above suggested, ELF I have a suggestion....maybe you can come out with a bright blue pigment shadow and name it cancun lagoon or something ;)

I purchased Gloden Goddess and Naturally nude. GG was super pigmented, EXACTLY what I was looking for! Blends nicely, would reccomend using a primer first as it does fade as the day goes on without primer. Naturally Nude is not nude at all! It looks a lot like the GG actually with just a hint more of brown. I won't be able to use it as the base I was hoping to, but it will be a nice crease color.

I ordered the mystic moss and the color that came to me was a dirty bronze color and definitely not green of any sort. I thought maybe it was the container making it look dark, but I put it on. There is a hint of green and when paired with green eyeliner looks okay, just not the bright green pictured. Other then that, the shadow goes on smooth and blends very nicely. I also ordered purple, and it is a true purple.

Not as light as it shows. More of a dark mossy green with gold flakes but still very beautiful!
